AIM: To investigate underlying factors for previously reported shortcomings in child health centres' (CHC) referral process of boys with undescended testicles. METHODS: A total of 386 physicians working at Swedish CHCs were surveyed regarding their knowledge about undescended testicles and their clinical management. Multivariate regression analyses were performed to identify risk factors of non-adherence to guidelines and self-reported lack of clinical skills. RESULTS: The overall knowledge of the health benefits of undescended testicle surgery was high (89%), while two-thirds were unaware of surgery being recommended <1 year of age. One-fifth of respondents had never received guidance on examination techniques. Male gender (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 0.51, 95% confidence interval [95% CI] 0.31-0.86), education in paediatrics (aOR 0.37, 95% CI 0.18-0.76) and more experience (aOR 0.02, 95% CI 0.01-0.09) significantly decreased the risk of unfamiliarity with examinations. More experience decreased the risk of stating the incorrect indications for undescended testicle surgery (aOR 0.17, 95% CI 0.03-0.95) and finding examinations difficult (aOR 0.22, 95% CI 0.07-0.72). Medical education outside Nordic countries was a risk factor for unawareness of guidelines (aOR 2.06, 95% CI 1.21-3.51). CONCLUSION: The knowledge and confidence level of the study population varied widely. The results indicate a need for further theoretical and practical education among Swedish CHC physicians.

Electric drones as an autonomous mode of transport are scaling up to transform last-mile goods delivery, raising an urgent need for assessing impacts of drone transport from a systems perspective. In this paper, we conduct systems analyses to assess the environmental, economic, and delivery time impact of large drones for delivery scenarios to pick-up centers between mid-size cities predominantly in rural areas, and deliveries within city limits compared with electric and diesel trucks. Results show that large drones have lower emissions than diesel trucks for deliveries in rural areas and that drones don't compete with electric trucks, mainly due to the high energy demand required for take-off and landing for each delivery. Furthermore, we show that electric drones are an economically more cost-effective option than road-bound transport modes such as diesel and electric trucks due to the high degree of automation, and also provide the fastest delivery times. Our analysis provides unique insights that drones can address rapid electrification and emergency applications due to low costs, high flexibility, and fast operations. However, for regulators and practitioners to realize it as an emission-friendly option it is necessary to determine the optimal size of drones, particularly for use cases in urban areas, avoid very low landings for deliveries, and have home deliveries instead of pick-up points.

Climate change is an increasing problem, with more extreme weather conditions and rising temperatures. To fulfill the temperature goals of the Paris agreement a societal change is needed, a change that requires a shift of lifestyle from all of us. If we want to change our behaviors to more sustainable ones, we need to sacrifice substantial things today to improve a future, which often seems distant and abstract. People with high level of self-control have been shown to have a better ability to visualize future events, which makes self-control an interesting trait to look at in relation to pro-environmental behavior. The aim of this study was to examine how self-control correlates with environmental well-being and environmental behavior. An internet-based survey was sent to a representative Swedish sample (n = 602). The respondents were asked to fill out a newly developed scale measuring their anxiety and security regarding environmental matters (environmental wellbeing), as well as indicate how often they engage in six different pro-environmental behaviors (e.g., turning lights off when leaving the room). Additionally, data on the respondents' gender, age, political orientation, and self-control was collected. Our results suggest a positive correlation between self-control and environmental wellbeing and a weaker, but still positive, correlation between self-control and some pro-environmental behaviors. Additionally, respondents who identified themselves as politically left had lower environmental wellbeing, while men had higher environmental wellbeing, but behaved less environmentally friendly. Thus, our results suggest that political orientation was a better predictor of sound environmental behavior than subjective self-control was.
