RESUMO

Printable mesoscopic perovskite solar cells (p-MPSCs) do not require the added hole-transport layer needed in traditional p-n junctions but have also exhibited lower power conversion efficiencies of about 19%. We performed device simulation and carrier dynamics analysis to design a p-MPSC with mesoporous layers of semiconducting titanium dioxide, insulating zirconium dioxide, and conducting carbon infiltrated with perovskite that enabled three-dimensional injection of photoexcited electrons into titanium dioxide for collection at a transparent conductor layer. Holes underwent long-distance diffusion toward the carbon back electrode, and this carrier separation reduced recombination at the back contact. Nonradiative recombination at the bulk titanium dioxide/perovskite interface was reduced by ammonium phosphate modification. The resulting p-MPSCs achieved a power conversion efficiency of 22.2% and maintained 97% of their initial efficiency after 750 hours of maximum power point tracking at 55 ± 5°C.

RESUMO

In this paper, an active terahertz modulator based on optically controlled organometal halide perovskite MAPbI2Br is proposed. The terahertz wave time-domain transmission of the MAPbI2Br/Al2O3 sample was measured by a terahertz time-domain spectrometer. Experimental results indicate that the MAPbI2Br/Al2O3 sample showed an obvious optical-power-dependent modulation effect on transmission of the terahertz wave; the maximum modulation depth of the modulator can reach 59.99% at 0.3 THz when the external pump optical power is up to 1500 mW.

RESUMO

Active control of terahertz waves is a critical application for terahertz devices. Silicon is widely used in large-scale integrated circuit and optoelectronic devices, and also shows great potential in the terahertz field. In this paper, a p-Si hybrid metasurface device is proposed and its terahertz characteristics under avalanche breakdown effect is investigated. In the study, a plasmon-induced transparency (PIT) effect caused by the near-field coupling of the bright mode and the dark mode is observed in the transmission spectrum. Due to avalanche breakdown effect, the resonance of the PIT metamaterial disappears as the current increased. Carriers existed in the interface between the metasurface and substrate result to a dipole resonance suppression. When the current continues increasing, the maximal modulation depth can reach up to 99.9%, caused by the avalanche effect of p-Si. Experimental results demonstrate that the avalanche breakdown p-Si can achieve a performance modulation depth, bringing much more possibilities for terahertz devices.

RESUMO

We theoretically and experimentally study a terahertz metamaterial based on a hybrid metamaterial/BFO/Si structure, where the BFO thin films are annealed and unannealed, respectively. Due to the interaction or hybridization of two resonators, an obvious plasma-induced transparency effect can be obtained in the transmission spectra. With increasing the external optical pumping power, the transparency peak modulation depth of the annealed hybrid sample is about 45% while the unannealed hybrid sample is almost zero. The annealing treatment has a significant effect on the modulation through investigating the photoconductivity of the BFO thin films. The photogenerated carriers suppress the resonances of the two bright modes, thus the transparency peak of the metamaterial is disappeared. This work is a further step forward in practical applications of BFO-based terahertz functional devices and a path for exploration of multiferroic material BiFeO3 in the terahertz range.

RESUMO

This paper presents the gradient-guided image super-resolution reconstruction for terahertz imaging to improve the image quality, taking advantage of super-resolution reconstruction based on adaptive super-pixel gradient field transform. Moreover, spatial entropy-based enhancement and a bilateral filter are introduced to ensure better performance of the reconstruction. Furthermore, we compare the performance of reconstruction operated on terahertz images with frequencies of 0.1 THz, 0.3 THz, 0.5 THz, and 0.7 THz. Experimental results demonstrate that this method successfully improves the image quality and reconstruct high-resolution images from low-resolution images with the peak signal-to-noise ratio and structural similarity index improved. In addition, the signal frequency and intensity are demonstrated to affect the performance of reconstruction.

RESUMO

Active control of terahertz waves is critical to the development of terahertz devices. Two-dimensional materials with excellent optical properties provide more choices for opto-electrical devices due to the advancement in their preparation technology. We proposed a hybrid structure of a metamaterial/monolayer MoS2/Si and investigated its optical properties in the terahertz range. The plasmon-induced transparency (PIT) effect was observed in the transmission spectra, resulting from the near-field coupling of two bright modes. According to the simulated results, this phenomenon confirmed its dependency on the length of the cutwire and the distance between DSSRs. Furthermore, an external optical field supported by a 1064 nm laser could exert a switch effect on the sample. The resonances of the PIT metamaterial disappeared when the optical power was further increased, as the excited carriers in the MoS2/Si substrate blocked the coupling effect. In addition, the experimental results indicated that the PIT metamaterial enhanced the interaction of infrared light with the monolayer MoS2/Si substrate.

RESUMO

An active multifunctional terahertz modulator based on plasmon-induced transparency (PIT) metasurface under the effect of external infrared light was investigated theoretically and experimentally. A distinct transparency window, which resulted from the near-field coupling between two resonators, could be observed in the transmission spectra. Experimental results showed a phenomenon infrared light induced blue shift on the both resonator with increasing optical powers. When the optical power was tuned from 0 mW to 400 mW, the amplitude tunability of transmission at transparency window reached to 34.01%, much larger than that at the two resonance frequencies. Moreover, the phase tunability of the transmission at 0.98 THz reached to 31.35%. Meanwhile, the amplitude variation was limited to 10%. Furthermore, a coupled Lorentz oscillator model was adopted to analyze the near-field interaction of the resonances. Experimental results were in good agreement with the analytical fitting results.

RESUMO

The characteristics of the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) analog exposed under different illumination powers have been investigated theoretically and experimentally. The EIT analog is composed of a fixed aluminum structure fabricated on the silicon substrate. It was found that the resonance degree of the transparent window displayed a decreasing trend, and a blueshift phenomenon emerged by increasing the powers of the laser. Similarly, the properties of the time delay under different illumination powers have also been researched. The realization of the tuning effect may provide a possible choice for the modulation of the slow light devices.

RESUMO

The transmission and dielectric spectra of ferroelectric STO/PT superlattice on Si substrate under simultaneous external optical and electric field were investigated and compared at room temperature. Results found that when with an optical field, the electric field realized an effective modulation on the transmission, which displayed a diode property. In addition, a comprehensive model combined with Debye relaxation and Lorentz model was used to analyze the dielectric spectra, variation of the soft mode with external field was put emphasis on exploring.

RESUMO

The dielectric properties of 0.6CaTiO3-0.4NdAlO3 ceramics under external optical fields were investigated by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy in a frequency range of 0.2 THz to 1 THz at room temperature. It could be found that the variation of the real part of complex permittivity is approximately 0.31 in the frequency range of 0.2 THz to 1 THz. However the imaginary part of the dielectric constant does not change appreciably with the external optical field. The micromechanism of these results was attributed to the built-in electric field caused by the excited free carriers in the ceramics.

RESUMO

A plasmon-induced polarization conversion (PIPC) structure based on periodically patterned graphene was demonstrated in the THz regime. By varying the Fermi level of two connected T-shape graphene strips through the electrostatic gating, the peak frequency and the group index in the transparency window can be tuned, which is good agreement with the coupled Lorentz oscillator model. Due to interference between two polarization selective graphene plasmonic resonances coexisting in the planar metamaterial, polarization conversion can be achieved. The linearly polarized THz wave can be converted to elliptically and right circularly polarized THz wave through varying the relaxation time of electrons in graphene. This novel chip-scale active terahertz device promises essential application opportunities in terahertz sensing and terahertz communications.

RESUMO

The dielectric spectra of single-layer PbTiO3 (PT), single-layer PbZrxTi1-xO3 (PZT) and multilayer PZT/PT thin films under an external optical field were investigated at room temperature by time-domain terahertz (THz) spectroscopy. Results showed that the real part of permittivity increased upon application of an external optical field, which could be interpreted as hardening of the soft mode and increasing of the damping coefficient and oscillator strength. Furthermore, the central mode was observed in the three films. Among the dielectric property of the three thin films studied, the tunability of the PZT/PT superlattice was the largest.

RESUMO

In this paper, a dual-band perfect absorber, composed of a periodically patterned elliptical nanodisk graphene structure and a metal ground plane spaced by a thin SiO(2) dielectric layer, is proposed and investigated. Numerical results reveal that the absorption spectrum of the graphene-based structure displays two perfect absorption peaks in the terahertz band, corresponding to the absorption value of 99% at 35µm and 97%at 59µm, respectively. And the resonance frequency of the absorber can be tunned by controlling the Fermi level of graphene layer. Further more, it is insensitive to the polarization and remains very high over a wide angular range of incidence around ±60(0). Compared with the previous graphene dual-band perfect absorption, our absorber only has one shape which can greatly simplify the manufacturing process.

RESUMO

The dielectric properties of 1050 °C/12h sintered CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO) ceramics have been investigated by using terahertz time domain spectroscopy in the frequency range of 0.2-1.6 THz at room temperature. When applying an external optical field, an obvious variation of dielectric constant was observed and reached up to 7%. However, the dielectric loss does not change appreciably. From the results, we found the change of refractive index has a linear relationship on scale with the applied light intensity. These findings were attributed to the change of spontaneous polarization in the ceramic caused by the excited free carriers.

RESUMO

In a holographic photopolymer system, the storage properties were often limited due to the attenuation in depth of light during the recording step. To obtain smaller values of the depth attenuation profiles in 1 mm thick polyvinyl alcohol/acrylamide (PVA/acrylamide) photopolymers, we used a triangle prism, sitting one face tilted at 13.7 degrees to the axis within the focus of a lens, to modulate the distribution of recording beams. Doing this permitted larger refractive index modulation depth to be achieved, and larger dynamic range (M#=9.2) was obtained in the PVA/acrylamide photopolymers.
