RESUMO

16 tumours developing mainly in the adult patients are studied histologically. Several morphological variants and transitional forms are distinguished, their characteristics are presented.

RESUMO

There have been experimentally studied the antibacterial properties of the preparation "gentacycol" developed in the research institute of antibiotics. Its effective agent is gentamycin and as the matrix of a carrier modified collagen is used. It is indicated that in vitro and at implantation in preliminary infected ordinary and gunshot osseous wounds in rabbits and dogs gentacycol inhibits the growth of aerobic and, that is especially important, anaerobic microflora, limits the development of inflammatory Process and stimulates, to a certain extent, reparative osteogenesis. The obtained data allows to recommend gentacycol application for prophylaxis of wound infection in treatment of gunshot limb bone injuries.

RESUMO

A procedure based on multifactorial evaluation of the most important clinical and X-ray signs was suggested to differentiate between secondary bone chondrosarcoma and such benign lesions as chondroma and osteochondrous exostosis. The analysis included 100 patients with secondary bone chondrosarcoma and 36 of those with benign lesions. The study used complex parameters derived from two, three or four simple ones. The method described assured a 95% credibility of differential diagnosis.

RESUMO

A retrospective study of 42 patients with bone fibrosarcoma was carried out. A new highly informative index--tumor growth rate--is suggested. It is a ratio of tumor maximum diameter to case history length (Rtg = L, CM/t, month). Three histologically-identified grades of fibrosarcoma malignity are discussed. They are based on the variation in metastasis development and survival rates. As a result of mathematical treatment of the findings, 8 characteristics of bone fibrosarcoma were identified which influenced prognosis. A multi-factorial analysis of the data was undertaken using said characteristics. Indexes were calculated for each characteristic and tabulated to prognosticate 3-year survival of patients with fibrosarcoma of the bone.

RESUMO

Data on the macroscopic features and histological structure of clear-cell chondrosarcoma of the bone obtained in studies on 15 tumors are presented. The most typical element of the histological picture consists of peculiar "clear" cells containing glycogen inclusions. The tumor cells produce interstitial cartilage substance and osteoid as well as primitive slightly atypical bone structures. Electron microscopic examinations performed in 5 tumors revealed "clear" cells, the cells of the type occurring in chondrosarcomas and chondroblastomas, and multinuclear giant cells. Morphological features of the clear-cell chondrosarcomas allow them to be considered as a special type of malignant bone tumors. They differ from the known kinds of chondrosarcomas and somewhat resemble chondroblastomas and chondroblastic osteogenic sarcomas. The possibility of secondary origin of the tumor on the basis of malignization of chondroblastoma is discussed.
