BACKGROUND Cryptococcosis is an opportunistic fungal infection that typically occurs in patients with compromised immune systems, primarily affecting the respiratory and central nervous systems. However, cryptococcal osteomyelitis is a rare manifestation of cryptococcal infection, characterized by nonspecific clinical features. Here, we present a case of vertebral cryptococcal osteomyelitis in a middle-aged woman and discuss diagnostic approaches. CASE REPORT A 56-year-old woman presented with lower back pain and limited mobility, without fever, and with a history of pulmonary tuberculosis. Physical examination revealed enlarged lymph nodes and tenderness in the thoracic vertebrae. A computed tomography-guided biopsy confirmed granulomatous inflammation caused by Cryptococcus, with abundant 10 µm spherical microbial spores. After 4 weeks of treatment with amphotericin B and fluconazole, symptoms and lesions improved. Upon discharge, the patient was prescribed oral fluconazole. Follow-up examinations showed a stable condition and a negative serum cryptococcal capsular polysaccharide antigen test. CONCLUSIONS Given the rarity and lack of specificity of clinical features of cryptococcal spondylitis, clinicians encountering similar presentations should consider tuberculous spondylitis and spinal tumors as differential diagnoses. Additionally, tissue biopsy of the affected vertebral bodies should be performed early to establish the type of vertebral infection, aiding in diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Chinese herb pairs are the most basic and compressed examples of Chinese herbal combinations and can be used to effectively explain the fundamental concepts of traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions. These pairings have gained significant interest due to their subtle therapeutic benefits, minimal side effects, and efficacy in treating complicated chronic conditions. The Banxia-Xiakucao Chinese herb pair (BXHP) consists of Pinellia ternata (Thunb.) Breit. (Banxia) and Prunella vulgaris L. (Xiakucao). This formula was documented in The Medical Classic of the Yellow Emperor approximately 2000 years ago,and clinical research has demonstrated that BXHP effectively treats insomnia AIM OF THE STUDY: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and therapeutic mechanism of the BXHP through a comprehensive strategy involving network pharmacology, molecular docking, transcriptomics, and molecular biology experimental validation. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The composition of BXHP was characterized using the UPLC-Q-TOF-MS. The active compounds were screened to find drug-likeness compounds by analyzing the ADME data. To predict the molecular mechanism of BXHP in sleep deprivation (SD) by network pharmacology and molecular docking. We established a rat model of SD and the in vivo efficacy of BXHP was verified through the pentobarbital sodium righting reflex test, behavioral assays, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, transmission electron microscopy, HE staining, and Nissl staining, and the underlying molecular mechanism of BXHP in SD was revealed through transcriptomic and bioinformatic analyses in conjunction with quantitative real-time PCR, Western blot, and immunofluorescence staining. RESULTS: In the present study, we showed for the first time that BXHP reduced sleep latency, prolongs sleep duration, and improves anxiety; lowered serum CORT, IL6, TNF-α and MDA levels; decreased hypothalamic Glu levels; and elevated hypothalamic GABA and 5-HT levels in SD rats. We found 16 active compounds that acted on 583 targets, 145 of which are related to SD. By modularly dissecting the PPI network, we discovered three critical targets, Akt1, CREB1, and PRKACA, all of which play important roles in the effects of BXHP on SD. Molecular docking resulted in the identification of 16 active compounds that strongly bind to key targets. The results of GO and KEGG enrichment analyses of network pharmacology and transcriptomics focused on both the regulation of circadian rhythm and the cAMP signaling pathway, which strongly demonstrated that BXHP affects SD via the cAMP-PKA-CREB-Circadian rhythm pathway. Molecular biology experiments verified this hypothesis. Following BXHP administration, PKA and CREB phosphorylation levels were elevated in SD rats, the cAMP-PKA-CREB signaling pathway was activated, the expression levels of the biological clock genes CLOCK, p-BMAL1/BMAL1, and PER3 were increased, and the rhythmicity of the biological clock was improved. CONCLUSIONS: The active compounds in BXHP can activate the cAMP-PKA-CREB-Circadian rhythm pathway, improve the rhythmicity of the biological clock, promote sleep and ameliorate anxiety, which suggests that BXHP improves SD through a multicomponent, multitarget, multipathway mechanism. This study is important for the development of herbal medicines and clinical therapies for improving sleep deprivation.

Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a wide bandgap semiconductor that holds significant potential for various applications. However, most of the native point defects in ZnO like Zn interstitials typically cause an n-type conductivity. Consequently, achieving p-type doping in ZnO is challenging but crucial for comprehensive applications in the field of optoelectronics. In this work, we investigated the electrical and optical properties of ex situ doped p-type ZnO films. The p-type conductivity has been realized by ion implantation of group V elements followed by rapid thermal annealing (RTA) for 60 s or flash lamp annealing (FLA) on the millisecond time scale in nitrogen or oxygen ambience. The phosphorus (P)-doped ZnO films exhibit stable p-type doping with a hole concentration in the range of 1014 to 1018 cm-3, while antimony (Sb) implantation produces only n-type layers independently of the annealing procedure. Microstructural studies of Sb-doped ZnO show the formation of metallic clusters after ms range annealing and SbZn-oxides after RTA.

In this work, to enhance the fluorescence quantum yield of carbon dots (CDs), a novel metal-enhanced fluorescence (MEF) structure was designed by decorating CDs on silver nanoparticle (AgNPs) film. The glass slide-AgNPs (GS-AgNPs) structure was fabricated using the electrostatic adsorption method, and the AgNPs-CDs structures were prepared by the direct drying method, which then formed the GS-AgNPs-CDs composite structure. In this structure, the MEF effect was found to be size dependent by changing the 5 types of AgNPs with different sizes. And the MEF effect also decreased as the distance between the AgNPs and CDs increased by using polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) to separate the AgNPs and CDs. This hybrid structure can be used as a fluorescence detection platform and the recorded fluorescence intensity of GS-AgNPs 428 nm-CDs achieved a maximum enhancement factor (EF) of 31.72. Considering the high enhancement factor, this system may become promising to find potential applications in biochemical assay fields.

Sesame leaves contain rich phenolic acids and flavonoids. However, their potential in nanozyme synthesis has not been investigated yet. Herein, we report the preparation of flavonoid-rich sesame leaf extract (SLE), composition identification, and its use in the construction of iron (Fe)-based nanozymes (Fe-SLE CPNs). SLE was obtained with an extraction yield of ∼14.5% with a total flavonoid content (TFC) of ∼850.85 mg RE/g. There were 83 flavonoid compounds in SLE, primarily including scutellarin, apigenin-7-glucuronid, narcissin, and hyperoside. Fe-SLE CPNs exhibited nanodot morphology with a hydrodynamic size of 79.34 nm and good stability in various physiological solutions, pH levels, and temperatures. The Fe-SLE CPNs were more efficient in the scavenging ability of reactive oxygen species (ROS) than SLE alone. Furthermore, a stronger anti-inflammatory effect of the Fe-SLE CPNs was shown by modulating the MyD88-NF-κB-MAPK signaling pathways. These findings imply that SLE-based nanozymes hold great potential for diverse applications.

Background: Patients with lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) often develop a poor prognosis. Currently, researches on prognostic and immunotherapeutic capacity of aneuploidy-related genes in LUAD are limited. Methods: Genes related to aneuploidy were screened based on bulk RNA sequencing data from public databases using Spearman method. Next, univariate Cox and Lasso regression analyses were performed to establish an aneuploidy-related riskscore (ARS) model. Results derived from bioinformatics analysis were further validated using cellular experiments. In addition, typical LUAD cells were identified by subtype clustering, followed by SCENIC and intercellular communication analyses. Finally, ESTIMATE, ssGSEA and CIBERSORT algorithms were employed to analyze the potential relationship between ARS and tumor immune environment. Results: A five-gene ARS signature was developed. These genes were abnormally high-expressed in LUAD cell lines, and in particular the high expression of CKS1B promoted the proliferative, migratory and invasive phenotypes of LUAD cell lines. Low ARS group had longer overall survival time, higher degrees of inflammatory infiltration, and could benefit more from receiving immunotherapy. Patients in low ASR group responded more actively to traditional chemotherapy drugs (Erlotinib and Roscovitine). The scRNA-seq analysis annotated 17 cell subpopulations into seven cell clusters. Core transcription factors (TFs) such as CREB3L1 and CEBPD were enriched in high ARS cell group, while TFs such as BCLAF1 and UQCRB were enriched in low ARS cell group. CellChat analysis revealed that high ARS cell groups communicated with immune cells via SPP1 (ITGA4-ITGB1) and MK (MDK-NCl) signaling pathways. Conclusion: In this research, integrative analysis based on the ARS model provided a potential direction for improving the diagnosis and treatment of LUAD.

Enzyme-induced in-situ fluorescence is crucial for the development of biosensing mechanisms and correlative spectroscopic analysis. Inspired by simple p-aminophenol (AP)-controlled synthesis and the specific catalytic reaction of 4-aminophenyl phosphate (APP) triggered by alkaline phosphatase (ALP), our research proposed a strategy to prepare carbon dots (CDs) as fluorescent signals for ALP detection using AP and 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APTMS) as the precursors. The further constructed ratiometric fluorescence sensor reduced the detection limit of ALP to 0.075 µU/mL by a significant margin. Considering the need for point-of-care testing (POCT), we chose agarose for the preparation of portable hydrogel sensors so that even untrained personnel can quickly achieve semi-quantitative visual detection of ALP using colorimetric cards. These results demonstrate the practical applicability of ratiometric fluorescence sensing hydrogel pillar arrays, which are important for high-sensitivity, visualization, and portable rapid enzyme activity assays.

Exposure to environmental carcinogens is a significant contributor to cancer development, with genetic and epigenetic alterations playing pivotal roles in the carcinogenic process. However, the interplay between epigenetic regulation and genetic changes in carcinogenesis has yet to receive comprehensive attention. This study investigates the impact of continuous exposure to the tobacco-specific carcinogen 4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK) on bronchial epithelial cells, leading to malignant transformation. Our findings reveal the down-regulation of the tumor suppressor-like circular RNA circNIPBL during oncogenic processes concomitant with the accumulation of the TP53-H179R, a single nucleotide variant. Diminished circNIPBL expression enhances the proliferative, distant metastatic, and tumor-forming capabilities of NNK-induced cancerous cells and lung cancer cell lines (A549, H1299), while also promoting the accumulation of TP53-H179R during NNK-induced carcinogenesis. Mechanistic investigations demonstrate that circNIPBL interacts with HSP90α to regulate the translocation of AHR into the nucleus, which may be a potential regulatory mechanism for NNK-induced carcinogenesis and TP53-H179R accumulation. This study introduces a novel perspective on the interplay between genetic alterations and epigenetic regulation in chemical carcinogenesis, which provides novel insight into the etiology of cancer.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the performance of multi-pool Chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) MRI in prediction of glioma grade, isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutation, alpha-thalassemia/mental retardation syndrome X-linked (ATRX) loss and Ki-67 labeling index (LI), based on the fifth edition of the World Health Organization classification of central nervous system tumors (WHO CNS5). METHODS: 95 patients with adult-type diffuse gliomas were analyzed. The amide, direct water saturation (DS), nuclear Overhauser enhancement (NOE), semi-solid magnetization transfer (MT) and amine signals were derived using Lorentzian fitting, and asymmetry-based amide proton transfer-weighted (APTwasym) signal was calculated. The mean value of tumor region was measured and intergroup differences were estimated using student-t test. The receiver operating curve (ROC) and area under the curve (AUC) analysis were used to evaluate the diagnostic performance of signals and their combinations. Spearman correlation analysis was performed to evaluate tumor proliferation. RESULTS: The amide and DS signals were significantly higher in high-grade gliomas compared to low-grade gliomas, as well as in IDH-wildtype gliomas compared to IDH-mutant gliomas (all p < 0.001). The DS, MT and amine signals showed significantly differences between ATRX loss and retention in grade 2/3 IDH-mutant gliomas (all p < 0.05). The combination of signals showed the highest AUC in prediction of grade (0.857), IDH mutation (0.814) and ATRX loss (0.769). Additionally, the amide and DS signals were positively correlated with Ki-67 LI (both p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: Multi-pool CEST MRI demonstrated good potential to predict glioma grade, IDH mutation, ATRX loss and Ki-67 LI.

Optically pumped magnetometers (OPMs) have become a favorable tool for magnetoencephalography (MEG) measurement, offering a non-invasive method of measurement. OPMs do not require cryogenic environments, sensors can be more closely aligned with the brain. We employed a passive single-stimulus paradigm in conjunction with OPMs with a sensitivity of 20 fT/ Hz to investigate the auditory response of rats to inter-stimulus interval (ISI) and frequencies, recording the rat auditory event-related magnetic fields (ERMFs). Our findings include: (1) Auditory evoked fields can be detected non-invasively by OPMs; (2) The amplitude of the rat auditory ERMFs varies with changes in ISI, with more pronounced amplitude changes observed after 5 s; (3) When the sound stimulus frequency is altered at the same ISI, the amplitude of the rats ERMFs changes with frequency, indicating significant differences in attention. Our method offers a valuable tool for the clinical application of a single stimulus paradigm and opens up a new avenue for research on the brain magnetic field detections.

Microbial fuel cells (MFCs), known for their low energy consumption, high efficiency, and environmental friendliness, have been widely utilized for removing antibiotics from wastewater. Compared to conventional wastewater treatment methods, MFCs produce less sludge while exhibiting superior antibiotic removal capacity, effectively reducing the spread of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs). This study investigates 1) the mechanisms of ARGs generation and proliferation in MFCs; 2) the influencing factors on the fate and removal of antibiotics and ARGs; and 3) the fate and mitigation of ARGs in MFC and MFC-coupled systems. It is indicated that high removal efficiency of antibiotics and minimal amount of sludge production contribute the mitigation of ARGs in MFCs. Influencing factors, such as cathode potential, electrode materials, salinity, initial antibiotic concentration, and additional additives, can lead to the selection of tolerant microbial communities, thereby affecting the abundance of ARGs carried by various microbial hosts. Integrating MFCs with other wastewater treatment systems can synergistically enhance their performance, thereby improving the overall removal efficiency of ARGs. Moreover, challenges and future directions for mitigating the spread of ARGs using MFCs are suggested.

Lead and its compounds can have cumulative harmful effects on the nervous, cardiovascular, and other systems, and especially affect the brain development of children. We collected 4918 samples from 15 food categories in 11 districts of Guangzhou, China, from 2017 to 2022, to investigate the extent of lead contamination in commercial foods and assess the health risk from dietary lead intake of the residents. Lead was measured in the samples using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Dietary exposure to lead was calculated based on the food consumption survey of Guangzhou residents in 2011, and the health risk of the population was evaluated using the margin of exposure (MOE) method. Lead was detected in 76.5% of the overall samples, with an average lead content of 29.4 µg kg-1. The highest lead level was found in bivalves. The mean daily dietary lead intakes were as follows: 0.44, 0.34, 0.25, and 0.28 µg kg-1 body weight (bw) day-1 for groups aged 3-6, 7-17, 18-59, and ≥ 60 years, respectively. Rice and rice products, leafy vegetables, and wheat flour and wheat products were identified as the primary sources of dietary lead exposure, accounting for 73.1%. The MOE values demonstrated the following tendency: younger age groups had lower MOEs, and 95% confidence ranges for the groups aged 3-6 and 7-17 began at 0.6 and 0.7, respectively, indicating the potential health risk of children, while those for other age groups were all above 1.0. Continued efforts are needed to reduce dietary lead exposure in Guangzhou.

BACKGROUND: LGBTQ+ populations have been reported to have higher rates of depression compared with their heterosexual peers. Such data provided us the impetus to conduct a meta-analysis on the worldwide prevalence of major depressive disorder (MDD) in LGBTQ+ populations and moderating factors that contributed to differences in prevalence estimates between studies. METHODS: A systematic literature search was performed in major international (PubMed, PsycINFO, Web of Science, EMBASE) and Chinese (Chinese Nation Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and WANFANG) databases from dates of inception to 10 December 2021. RESULTS: 48 articles comprising 4,616,903 individuals were included in the meta-analysis. The overall prevalence of MDD was 32.2 % (95%CI: 30.8-33.6 %, I2 = 99.6 %, τ2 = 0.284). MDD prevalence was higher in the LGBTQ+ samples from the United States than other countries, though the difference was not significant in moderator analyses. Moderator analyses indicated point and lifetime prevalence of MDD were significantly higher than estimates based on the past year (Q = 6.270, p = 0.043). Furthermore, studies that relied on convenience sampling had a higher prevalence of MDD than those based on other sampling methods (Q = 8.159, p = 0.017). In meta-regression analyses, mean age (B = 0.03, z = 9.54, p < 0.001) and study quality assessment score (B = 0.24, z = 67.64, p < 0.001) were positively associated with pooled prevalence of MDD while mediation data of year of study (B = -0.08, z = -72.55, p < 0.001) and sample size (B = -1.46, z = -37.83, p < 0.001) were negatively associated with pooled prevalence of MDD in LGBTQ+ samples. CONCLUSIONS: MDD is common among in LGBTQ+ individuals. Considering the negative consequences MDD has on daily life and well-being, appropriate prevention and treatment measures should be provided to vulnerable members of these populations. The findings of this meta-analysis could facilitate identifying at-risk subgroups, developing relevant health policy for LGBTQ+ individuals and allocating health resources from an intersectionality perspective.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major public health problem. Due to the restriction of expiratory airflow, it is characterized by emphysematous destruction of the lungs. Shortness of breath is one of the main clinical symptoms. Auricular acupressure is a clinical therapy characteristic of Chinese medicine that treats the disease by compressing ear points. Usually, the seeds of Vaccaria segetalis are used to stimulate ear points, which has the effect of regulating qi and alleviating wheezing. In this paper, we propose this characteristic therapy of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for the clinical symptoms of wheezing of lung and kidney qi deficiency type in stable COPD patients. Ear points are selected as the treatment protocol for Lung (CO14), Spleen (CO13), Kidney (CO10), Shen Men (TF4), and Ping Chuan (AT1.2.4i) points. The protocol describes a case study using auricular acupressure for a patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease to relieve wheezing symptoms.

Tellurium exhibits exceptional intrinsic electronic properties. However, investigations into the modulation of tellurium's electronic properties through physical modification are notably scarce. Here, we present a comprehensive study focused on the evolution of the electronic properties of tellurium crystal flakes under plasma irradiation treatment by employing conductive atomic force microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The plasma-treated tellurium experienced a process of defect generation through lattice breaking. Prior to the degradation of electronic transport performance due to plasma irradiation treatment, we made a remarkable observation: in the low-energy region of hydrogen plasma-treated tellurium, a notable enhancement in conductivity was unexpectedly detected. The mechanism underlying this enhancement in electronic transport performance was thoroughly elucidated by comparing it with the electronic structure induced by argon plasma irradiation. This study not only fundamentally uncovers the effects of plasma irradiation on tellurium crystal flakes but also unearths an unprecedented trend of enhanced electronic transport performance at low irradiation energies when utilizing hydrogen plasma. This abnormal trend bears significant implications for guiding the prospective application of tellurium-based 2D materials in the realm of electronic devices.

BACKGROUND: Personality traits, especially neuroticism, can influence susceptibility to dementia. Social contact mitigates stress and risk of dementia, the extent to which social contact can mitigate excess risk associated with neuroticism remains unclear. We aim to investigate whether active social contact is associated with lower neuroticism-associated excess risk of dementia. METHODS: This prospective cohort study examined 393,939 UK Biobank participants (mean [SD] age: 56.4 [8.1] years; 53.7 % female) assessed from 2006 to 2010 and followed up until December 2022. Neuroticism was measured using the Revised Eysenck Personality Questionnaire. Social contact levels were assessed based on household size, contact with family or friends, and group participation. Dementia was determined using linked electronic health records. RESULTS: High neuroticism was associated with increased all-cause dementia risk and cause-specific dementia. Among high neuroticism participants, excess risk of all-cause dementia showed a stepwise decrease with increasing social contact (low: hazard ratios (HR) = 1.27, 95 % confidence interval (CI) = 1.15-1.40; intermediate: HR = 1.20, 95 % CI = 1.12-1.28; high: HR = 1.07, 95 % CI = 1.00-1.15). High social contact similarly decreased excess risk of cause-specific dementia, comparable to those with low neuroticism. LIMITATIONS: Neuroticism and social contact information relied on self-report questionnaires at baseline, with a potential temporal relationship between these factors. CONCLUSION: Active social contact is associated with a stepwise reduction in excess dementia risk and potentially eliminate excess risk of dementia with high neuroticism individuals, supporting social contact as a preventive strategy to attenuate excess risks of dementia from neuroticism personality trait.

Here we report the first and concise total synthesis of a complex ophiobolin-derived sesterterpene, bipolarolide D, which hinges on two strategic applications of pentafulvene: (1) enantioselective pentafulvene-involved [6+2] cycloaddition; (2) regioselective and diastereoselective pentafulvene-involved Heck cyclization. Late-stage selective allylic addition to the ketone moiety facilitates the successful installation of the side chain. This strategy enabled the accomplishment of its first enantioselective total synthesis through a modular approach. This synthesis will facilitate the investigation of relevant biological activities and provide a synthetic blueprint for utilizing fulvenes as versatile synthons in other complex natural product synthesis.

Diode effects are of great interest for both fundamental physics and modern technologies. Electrical diode effects (nonreciprocal transport) have been observed in Weyl systems. Optical diode effects arising from the Weyl fermions have been theoretically considered but not probed experimentally. Here, we report the observation of a nonlinear optical diode effect (NODE) in the magnetic Weyl semimetal CeAlSi, where the magnetization introduces a pronounced directionality in the nonlinear optical second-harmonic generation (SHG). We demonstrate a six-fold change of the measured SHG intensity between opposite propagation directions over a bandwidth exceeding 250 meV. Supported by density-functional theory, we establish the linearly dispersive bands emerging from Weyl nodes as the origin of this broadband effect. We further demonstrate current-induced magnetization switching and thus electrical control of the NODE. Our results advance ongoing research to identify novel nonlinear optical/transport phenomena in magnetic topological materials and further opens new pathways for the unidirectional manipulation of light.

The identification of patients with craniotomy at high risk for postoperative 30-day mortality may contribute to achieving targeted delivery of interventions. The present study aimed to develop a personalized nomogram and scoring system for predicting the risk of postoperative 30-day mortality in such patients. In this retrospective cross-sectional study, 18,642 patients with craniotomy were stratified into a training cohort (n=7,800; year of surgery, 2012-2013) and an external validation cohort (n=10,842; year of surgery, 2014-2015). The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) model was used to select the most important variables among the candidate variables. Furthermore, a stepwise logistic regression model was established to screen out the risk factors based on the predictors chosen by the LASSO model. The model and a nomogram were constructed. The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC) and calibration plot analysis were used to assess the model's discrimination ability and accuracy. The associated risk factors were categorized according to clinical cutoff points to create a scoring model for postoperative 30-day mortality. The total score was divided into four risk categories: Extremely high, high, intermediate and low risk. The postoperative 30-day mortality rates were 2.43 and 2.58% in the training and validation cohort, respectively. A simple nomogram and scoring system were developed for predicting the risk of postoperative 30-day mortality according to the white blood cell count; hematocrit and blood urea nitrogen levels; age range; functional health status; and incidence of disseminated cancer cells. The ROC AUC of the nomogram was 0.795 (95% CI: 0.764 to 0.826) in the training cohort and it was 0.738 (95% CI: 0.7091 to 0.7674) in the validation cohort. The calibration demonstrated a perfect fit between the predicted 30-day mortality risk and the observed 30-day mortality risk. Low, intermediate, high and extremely high risk statuses for 30-day mortality were associated with total scores of (-1.5 to -1), (-0.5 to 0.5), (1 to 2) and (2.5 to 9), respectively. A personalized nomogram and scoring system for predicting postoperative 30-day mortality in adult patients who underwent craniotomy were developed and validated, and individuals at high risk of 30-day mortality were able to be identified.

In order to enhance the sensitivity of wafer-level vacuum-packaged electric field sensors, this paper proposed a vertical-resonant MEMS electric field sensor based on TGV (Through Glass Via) technology. The microsensor is composed of the electric field sensing cover, the drive cover, and the SOI-based microstructures between them. TGV technology is innovatively used to fabricate the electric field sensing cover and the vertically-driven cover. The external electric field is concentrated and transmitted to the area below the silicon plate in the center of the electric field sensing cover through a metal plate and a metal pillar, reducing the coupling capacitance between the silicon plate and the packaging structure, thereby achieving the enhanced transmission of the electric field. The sensitivity-enhanced mechanism of the sensor is analyzed, and the key parameters of the sensor are optimized through finite element simulation. The fabrication process is designed and realized. A prototype is tested to characterize its performance. The experimental results indicate that the sensitivity of the sensor is 0.82 mV/(kV/m) within the electrostatic electric field ranging from 0-50 kV/m. The linearity of the sensor is 0.65%.
