RESUMO

Driven by the pressing demand for stable energy systems, zinc-air batteries (ZABs) have emerged as crucial energy storage solutions. However, the quest for cost-effective catalysts to enhance vital oxygen evolution and reduction reactions remains challenging. FeNiCo|MnGaOx heterostructure nanoparticles on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are synthesized using liquid-phase reduction and H2 calcination approach. Compared to its component, such FeNiCo|MnGaOx/CNT shows a high synergistic effect, low impedance, and modulated electronic structure, leading to a superior bifunctional catalytic performance with an overpotential of 255 mV at 10 mA cm-2 and half-wave potential of 0.824 V (ω = 1600 rpm and 0.1 m KOH electrolyte). Moreover, ZABs based on FeNiCo|MnGaOx/CNT demonstrate notable features, including a peak power density of 136.1 mW cm-2, a high specific capacity of 808.3 mAh gZn -1, and outstanding stability throughout >158 h of uninterrupted charge-discharge cycling. Theoretical calculations reveal that the non-homogeneous interface can introduce more carriers and altered electronic structures to refine intermediate adsorption reactions, especially promoting O* formation, thereby enhancing electrocatalytic performance. This work demonstrates the importance of heterostructure interfacial modulation of electronic structure and enhancement of adsorption capacity in promoting the implementation of OER/ORR, ZABs, and related applications.

RESUMO

@#[Abstract] Objective: To explore the pathogenosis and prognostic markers for non-smoking female lung cancer patients with bioinfor‐ matics analysis and functional prediction of potential lung cancer associated genes in female non-smokers. Methods: Data for nonsmoking female patients with lung cancer were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified using GEO2R. DAVID online data base was used to perform gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG), and STRING online software was used to perform protein-protein interaction (PPI) analysis; then the plug-in (M-CODE) was used to screen the key DEGs; finally, GEPIA and Kaplan-Meier plotter were used to perform function prediction and prognosis analysis of key DEGs. Results: A total of 160 DEGs were screened, including 54 up-regulated and 106 down-regulated genes; GO enrichment analysis showed that these DEGs were mainly related to neovascularization, single cell adhesion, positive regulation of GTPase activity and signal transduction (all P<0.05). KEGG pathway analysis revealed that DEGs were mainly involved in cell adhesion molecules (CAMs), leukocyte transendothelial migration, tight junction and endocytosis (all P<0.05); PPI network analysis revealed 8 key DEGs, including TIE1, PECAM1, CLDN5, VEGFD, ICAM2, ESAM, EMCN and ROBO4. Conclusion: TIE1, CLDN5, ICAM2, ESAM, VEGFD and ROBO4 may be the research targets of the pathogenesis of non-smoking female lung cancer patients. PECAM1 and EMCN may be the new bio-markers to predict the progression and prognosis of nonsmoking female lung cancer patients.

RESUMO

Due to insufficient quantitative evaluation of the clinic-pathological features and prognosis of young colorectal cancer (CRC) with mucinous adenocarcinoma (MAC) and signet-ring cell carcinoma (SRC), the aim of our study was to develop a nomogram to identify the prognostic predictors for overall survival (OS) in this patient population. We retrospectively evaluated the patient records of MAC and SRC patients aged ≤ 40 years. Kaplan-Meier analysis and log-rank testing were performed to estimate OS. A nomogram predicting OS was created for risk quantitation and decision tree analysis was performed for patient grouping. With a median follow-up of 36.5 months, we included a total of 90 young CRC patients for analysis. The overall cumulate 5-year OS rate was 57.7% (95% confidence interval (CI): 45.1-68.5%). The estimated 5-year OS was 62.9% (95% CI: 48.5-74.3%) for MAC and 37.3% (95% CI: 14.4-61.2%) for SRC (P=0.021). The recurrence rate was significantly greater in the SRC group compared with the mucinous group (52.4 compared with 26.1%, P=0.047). In the multivariate Cox regression model, preoperative carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels and cycles of adjuvant chemotherapy (CT) were found to be an independent prognostic factor for OS (hazard ratio (HR): 2.43; 95% CI: 1.13-5.62, P=0.024; HR: 0.21; 95% CI: 0.083-0.57, P=0.002, respectively). Nomograms predicting 3- and 5-year OS were established that performed well (concordance index (c-indexes) of 0.636, 95% CI: 0.549-723) for OS. For MAC and SRC disease, a greater proportion of young patients present with advanced disease, and the prognosis for young SRC patients is poorer than MAC. Furthermore, preoperative CEA levels and cycles of adjuvant CT seem to independently affect the OS in this patient population.

RESUMO

The water-soluble polysaccharides were extracted and purified from the root of Chuanminshen violaceum (CVPS). The antioxidant activities of the CVPS were evaluated both with in vitro and in vivo experiments. The results of the in vitro antioxidant assay suggested that the CVPS scavenged DPPH, hydroxyl, and superoxide anion radicals. The oral administration of three different doses of CVPS administered over a period of 6 weeks to D-galactose induced aging mice models, enhanced the activities of T-SOD, Mn-SOD, Cu, Zn-SOD, and CAT, and markedly decreased the content of MDA. Therefore, significant up-regulation of mRNA expression levels of Cu, Zn-SOD, Mn-SOD, CAT, glutathione peroxidase 1 (GPx), thioredoxin 1 (Trx1), and thioredoxin 2 (Trx1) occurred. Finally, the results demonstrated that the CVPS are a novel potential resource for natural antioxidants and anti-aging drugs.
