RESUMO

BACKGROUND: After initial treatment of prostate cancer, increases in prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels commonly signify potential relapse or metastasis. 18F-labeled prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) is considered a promising treatment due to its favorable physical properties. PURPOSE: To investigate the diagnostic value of 18F-PSMA PET/CT for the recurrence and/or metastasis of biochemical recurrence of prostate cancer (BRPca). MATERIAL AND METHODS: A comprehensive literature search was conducted in PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library databases. Combined sensitivity and specificity values for the use of 18F-PSMA PET/CT in patients with BRPca were obtained. The quality of the studies was tested using the Diagnostic Accuracy Research Quality Assessment tool. Meta-analysis was performed using STATA 15 software, and heterogeneity was subsequently tested. RESULTS: A total of 16 studies (1162 patients) were enrolled and had significant heterogeneity. The pooled sensitivity, specificity, and AUC values for 18F-PSMA PET/CT in the diagnosis of prostate recurrence and/or metastasis were 0.93 (0.89-0.95), 0.94 (0.85-0.98), and 0.96 (0,94-0.98), respectively. Meta-regression analyses showed that the sources of heterogeneity did not relate to ligands, study designs, or participants. The pooled sensitivity and specificity values of 18F-DCFPyL PET/CT were 0.90 (0.85-0.94) and 0.89 (0.85-0.93), respectively. The pooled sensitivity and specificity values of 18F-PSMA-1007 PET/CT were 0.89 (0.85-0.93) and 0.93 (0.70-0.99), respectively. The per-patient pooled sensitivity and specificity values were 0.92 (0.86-0.96) and 0.83 (0.41-0.97), respectively. The per-lesion pooled sensitivity and specificity values were 0.91 (0.86-0.94) and 0.91 (0.86-0.94), respectively. CONCLUSION: According to our meta-analysis, 18F-PSMA PET/CT has the potential to be critical for the diagnosis of recurrence and/or metastasis in patients with BRPca.

The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the effects of Litsea cubeba essential oil (LCO) on the growth performance, blood antioxidation, immune function, apparent digestibility of nutrients, and fecal microflora in fattening pigs. A total of 120 pigs were randomly assigned to five groups, with six replicate pens per treatment and four pigs per pen, and they were fed basal diet, chlortetracycline (CTC), and low-, medium-, and high-concentration LCO. The results of the study showed that compared with the control treatment and CTC addition treatment of the basic diet, the catalase level in the serum of the pigs treated with 500 mg/kg LCO in the diet of finishing pigs was significantly increased (p < 0.05). The apparent digestibility of crude protein, crude ash, and calcium in pigs with different levels of LCO was significantly increased compared with the control treatments fed the basal diet (p < 0.05). In addition, compared with the control treatment fed the basal diet and the treatment with CTC, the apparent digestibility of ether extract in pigs treated with medium-dose LCO was significantly increased (p < 0.05), and the apparent digestibility of pigs was significantly increased after the addition of low-dose LCO (p < 0.05). Among the genera, the percentage abundance of SMB53 (p < 0.05) was decreased in the feces of the CTC group when compared to that in the medium-LCO group. At the same time, the relative abundance of L7A_E11 was markedly decreased in the feces of the control and medium- and high-concentration LCO group than that in the CTC group (p < 0.05). In conclusion, adding the level of 250 mg/kg LCO in the diet of pig could improve the growth performance and blood physiological and biochemical indicators of pigs, improve the antioxidant level of body and the efficiency of digestion and absorption of nutrients, and show the potential to replace CTC.

This paper was to determine the effects of dietary Litsea cubeba essential oil (LEO) supplementation on growth performance, immune function, antioxidant level, intestinal morphology and microbial composition in weaned piglets. One hundred and ninety-two piglets (Duroc × [Large White × Landrace]) with 6.85 ± 0.22 kg mean body weight weaned at 21 d of age were randomly assigned to 4 treatment groups with 8 replicates and were fed with a basal diet (CON) or CON diet containing 100 (LLEO), 200 (MLEO) and 400 (HLEO) mg/kg LEO. The results revealed that HLEO supplementation (P < 0.05) increased the average daily gain on d 28 compared with CON. MLEO and HLEO supplementation decreased (P < 0.05) feed conversion ratio. LEO-containing diets had a lower (P < 0.05) diarrhea rate. Supplementation with HLEO increased (P < 0.05) total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) both in the serum and liver. Meanwhile, the supplementation of MLEO and HLEO resulted in higher (P < 0.05) glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activities both in serum and liver. Supplementation of HLEO increased (P < 0.05) serum immunoglobulin A, immunoglobulin G and interleukin-10, whereas supplementation with MLEO and HLEO decreased (P < 0.05) tumor necrosis factor-α. Villus height in the duodenum or jejunum was increased (P < 0.05) in the HLEO group, and the villus height to crypt depth ratio in the jejunum was also improved (P < 0.05) in the MLEO group. The addition of LEO increased (P < 0.05) the richness and diversity of the microbial community in the cecum, which mainly increased the relative abundance of Oscillospiraceae _UCG-005, Faecalibacterium, Blautia and Coprococcus. Piglets supplemented with HLEO increased (P < 0.05) the concentration of short chain fatty acids (SCFA), including acetic acid in the cecum and propionic acid in the colon. In conclusion, these findings indicated that LEO supplementation improved growth performance and intestinal health in weaned piglets.

We sought to systematically evaluate diagnostic performance of four-dimensional computed tomography (4D-CT) in the localization of hyperfunctioning parathyroid glands (HPGs) in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT). We calculated the pooled sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), and diagnostic odds ratios (DOR) of 4D-CT on a per-lesion level, as well as pooled sensitivity and positive predictive value (PPV) on a per-patient level with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Additionally, we plotted summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) curves and evaluated the areas under the curves (AUC). A total of 16 studies were included in the analysis. Their pooled sensitivity, specificity, PLR, NLR, and DOR of 4D-CT on per-lesion level were 75% (95%CI: 66-82%), 85% (95%CI: 50-97%), 4.9 (95%CI: 1.1-21.3), 0.30 (95%CI: 0.19-0.45), and 17 (95%CI: 3-100), respectively, with an AUC of 81% (95%CI: 77-84%). We also observed heterogeneity in sensitivity (I2 = 79%) and specificity (I2 = 94.7%), and obtained a pooled sensitivity of 81% (95%CI: 70-90%) with heterogeneity of 81.9% (p < 0.001) and PPV of 91% (95%CI: 82-98%) with heterogeneity of 80.8% (p < 0.001), based on a per-patient level. Overall, 4D-CT showed moderate sensitivity and specificity for preoperative localization of HPG(s) in patients with pHPT. The diagnostic performance may improve with 4D-CT's promotion to first-line use on a lesion-based level, further research is needed to confirm the results.

RESUMO

A 4-year-old boy with history of hemophilia B presented with increasingly enlarged scalp masses. Although they were initially thought as hematomas, unresponsiveness to the therapy lead to suspicion of malignancy, which prompted FDG PET/CT. The FDG PET/CT images demonstrated increased FDG uptake in the scalp masses and cervical lymph nodes. The pathology from the left scalp mass and the left cervical lymph nodes revealed precursor B-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma.

RESUMO

FDG PET/CT was performed in a 20-year-old woman to find the underlying cause of hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis. The images revealed hypermetabolic activity in multiple lymph nodes and in the spleen. Lymphoma was suspected. However, the pathology of bone marrow, lymph nodes, and the spleen demonstrated chronic active Epstein-Barr virus-associated T-cell lymphoproliferative disorders.
