RESUMO

[reaction: see text] PtCl(2) (5 mol %) catalyst effected cycloisomerization of cis-2,4-dien-1-al (1) to 3-cyclopentenone (3) efficiently in hot toluene. In the presence of p-TSA, this PtCl(2) catalysis gave 2-cyclopentenone (5) exclusively because of the secondary isomerization reaction. Although the 1-2 equilibrium state greatly favors aldehyde (1), PdCl(2)(PhCN)(2) (5 mol %) catalyzed cycloisomerization of aldehyde (1) to 4,6,7,8-tetrahydro-3H-isochromene (4) smoothly in hot toluene. A plausible mechanism is proposed on the basis of reaction observation and isotope-labeled experiment.

RESUMO

[reaction: see text] Treatment of 1,2-bis(ethynyl)benzene (1) with aqueous HX (X = Br, I) in hot 3-pentanone (100-105 degrees C, 2 h) afforded 1,2-bis(1'-haloethenyl)benzene species 2-Br and 2-I in 98% and 95% yields, respectively. The hydrochlorination of endiyne 1 failed to proceed at elevated temperature but was implemented efficiently by PtCl2 (5 mol %) in hot 3-pentanone (100 degrees C, 2 h) to give 1,2-bis(1'-chloroethenyl)benzene 2-Cl in 80% yield. In the presence of PtCl2 (5 mol %), these halides 2-Cl,2-Br, and 2-I were subsequently converted to 1-halonaphthalenes 3-Cl, 3-Br, and 3-I in the mother solution via sequential 6-pi electrocyclization and dehalogenation reactions. PtCl2 (5 mol %) also effected direct haloaromatization of endiyne 1 with HX (X = Cl, Br, I) and gave 1-halonaphthalenes 3-Cl, 3-Br, and 3-I in 64-71% yields. This investigation reports the scope and the regioselectivity of haloaromatization of various enediynes catalyzed by PtCl2.

RESUMO

Treatment of a series of 2',2'-disubstituted (o-ethynyl)styrenes with TpRu(PPh(3))(CH(3)CN)(2)PF(6) (10 mol %) in benzene (80 degrees C, 12-18 h) efficiently gave 2-alkenyl-1H-indene derivatives. This catalytic reaction represents an atypical enyne cycloisomerization with skeletal rearrangement of starting enyne, where the C=C bond is completely cleaved and inserted by the terminal alkynyl carbon. The reaction mechanism was elucidated by a series of deuterium and (13)C labeling experiments, as well as by changing the substituents at the phenyl moieties. The mechanism is proposed to involve the following key steps: 5-endo-dig cyclization of ruthenium-vinylidene intermediate, a nonclassical ion formation, and the "methylenecyclopropane-trimethylenemethane" rearrangement.

RESUMO

We report a ruthenium-catalyzed reaction for various 3-benzyl but-1-ynyl ethers with suitable functionalities. Treatment of these substrates with TpRu(PPh3)(CH3CN)2PF6 (8.0 mol %) catalyst in 1,2-dichloroethane (80 degrees C, 12 h) afforded functionalized 1,3-dienes and benzyl aldehyde in good yields. This process is considered to be a tandem dealkoxylation and transfer hydrogenation. Deuterium-labeling experiments reveal that the migration of different hydrogen atoms proceeds regiospecifically. A plausible mechanism is proposed on the basis of the results of isotope experiment.

RESUMO

Ruthenium catalyst TpRuPPh(3)(CH(3)CN)(2)Cl is found to effect the cyclization of epoxyalkynes to furans in the presence of Et(3)N. The reactions worked well for various epoxyalkynes with suitable oxygen and nitrogen functionalities with low loading of catalyst. It failed with disubstituted epoxyalkynes. The mechanism was elucidated by a deuterium labeling experiment that suggested that the mechanism involved a ruthenium-vinylidenium intermediate.
