The study of the allergenic properties of thimerosal contained in adsorbed DPT vaccine was carried out. Two variants of this vaccine, with and without thimerosal, as well as thimerosal alone (diluted 1:10,000, which corresponds to the content of this preservative in the vaccine), were used in experiments. The phenomenon of anaphylactic shock, passive dermal anaphylaxis and skin tests were used as test-systems. The injection of each of the two variants of the vaccine induced the state of sensitization in guinea pigs. At the same time no differences in the intensity of manifestations of immediate and delayed hypersensitivity induced by preparations with and without thimerosal were registered. The solution of thimerosal alone exhibited no sensitizing properties.

[Diagnosis of bacterial allergy in patients with diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses]. / Diagnostika bakterial'noi allergii u bol'nykh s zabolevaniiami nosa i okolonosovykh pazukh.

A comprehensive allergological examinations of 92 patients with lesions of the nose and paranasal cavities and 20 essentially healthy subjects was carried out, using skin tests and neutrophil tests. Half of the patients showed sensitization to Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes allergens, which occurred more frequently in patients with chronic purulent sinusitis. It is recommended to expose such patients to allergological examinations and to prescribe, if indicated, desensitization therapy.

Sensitization to Candida albicans, Mucor, Cladosporium, Penicillium, Alternaria, Rhizopus nigricans was studied in vitro and in vivo in patients suffering from allergic diseases. The overwhelming majority of the positive responses to skin tests were of the immediate type. In parallel with the immediate responses, delayed ones were recorded in some patients. Positive responses in radioallergosorbent test and in estimation of the neutrophil injury index according to V. A. Fradkin did not always correlate with the skin test results. High titers of total IgE in some cases did not coincide with the titers of specific antibodies.

[Comparative study of allergenic fractions extracted from different strains of staphylococci]. / Sravnitel'noe izuchenie allergennykh fraktsii, poluchennykh iz razlichnykh shtammov stafilokokkov.

Various methods for obtaining staphylococcus allergens were approbated. Biological activity of the preparation proved to depend on the method of obtaining it determining the chemical compostition of the preparation, and on the properties of the strain used. A method of alkaline extraction and a strain with marked pathogenicity signs (strain 209) can be recommended for the preparation of staphylococcus allergen. Biological activity of the allergen in case of its approbation in the same dose by protein on laboratory animals and patients proved to be the same.
