RESUMO
Merkel cells carcinoma is a rare cutaneous neoplasia. Studies revealed an increase in the occurrence from 0.15 to 0.44 cases for every 100.000 inhabitants between 1986 and 2001. Around 50% of the patients, eventually, develop systemic disease, being the most common sites the liver, the bones and the brain. The etiology is still unknown. The present study presents a new case of Merkel cells carcinoma in extremity, treated with local resection and adjuvant radiotherapy.

O Carcinoma de Células de Merkel (CCM) é umaneoplasia cutânea rara. Existe predileção pelo sexomasculino e por idosos, e ocorre, geralmente, em áreasexpostas ao sol. Existe menos de 600 casos na literatura,apresentando-se clinicamente como uma lesão nodular, decoloração vermelho-azulada e de crescimento rápido. Cercade 50% dos pacientes, eventualmente, desenvolve doençasistêmica, sendo os sítios mais comuns o fígado, os ossos eo cérebro. A etiologia ainda é desconhecida. Apresentamosum novo caso de CCM em extremidade, tratado comressecção local e radioterapia adjuvante. Apresentouadenopatia inguinal no 3º mês de pós-operatório, sendosubmetida à linfadenectomia inguinal radical.

There are few more than 600 cases in theliterature, clinically presenting itself as a nodular injury,of bluish-red color and of fast growth. Around 50%of the patients, eventually, develop systemic disease,being the most common sites the liver, the bones andthe brain. The etiology is still unknown. We present anew case of MCC in extremity, treated with localresection and adjuvant radiotherapy. It presentedinguinal adenopathy in the third post-surgery month,being submitted to radical inguinal lymphadenectomy.
