Eutectogels based on natural polymers have attracted significant attention as an alternative to easily dehydrated hydrogels and expensive ionogels in the development of flexible strain sensors. The feasibility of employing eutectogels derived from pure natural polymers could be greatly enhanced if their mechanical properties satisfy the requirements of applications. Herein, alginate eutectogels (AEs) with high mechanical properties (tensile strain 217 % and strength 2.26 MPa at fracture), and excellent transparency (over 90 %) are acquired via CaCl2 inducing ionic crosslinking and subsequent deep eutectic solvents (DESs, composed of glycerol and choline chloride) initiating physical crosslinking with a universal solvent- replacement strategy. Among them, sodium alginate, a natural polysaccharide polymer, is selected as representative supporting scaffolds and forms water-insoluble alginate hydrogels (AHs) in CaCl2 coagulation bath. The exchange of DESs with water of AHs not only restrengthens the polymer network by physical crosslinking, but also endows the obtained AEs with long-term solvent retention and high temperature resistance. In addition, the AEs not only have high reliability but also exhibit better linear sensitivity in a wide strain range (0-200 %). In particular, the AEs display multiple sensitivity to stretching, bending, and human motions, demonstrating feasibility as sensitive strain sensors.

Background: Cerebral palsy (CP) is a unique neurological disorder which adversely affects motion. Cytokines and gut microbial composition contribute to CP and other diseases, such as reproductive tract inflammation and bone loss. Importantly, Saccharomyces boulardii (S. boulardii) reduces the degree of inflammation and improves overall health status. As our previous study showed that Lactobacillus rhamnosus (L. rhamnosus) OF44, a selected strain of gut bacteria originally used to treat reproductive tract inflammation and bone loss, has effects similar to that of S. boulardii, we decided to use L. rhamnosus OF44 on CP rats. Validation of the effects of L. rhamnosus OF44 on CP adds to its confirmed effects in treating osteoporosis and reproductive tract microbiota disorders, increasing its potential as a probiotic. The purpose of this was to ascertain whether L. rhamnosus OF44 can alleviate the symptoms of CP. Methods: CP rat models were created through left carotid artery ligation. Following this, 100-day old CP rats were exposed to L. rhamnosus OF44, S. boulardii, or normal saline gastric gavage daily for 28 days. Grouping of the rats is determined randomly. Before and after the gavage, behavioral experiments were conducted and the inflammation levels assessed via measurements of interleukin (IL)-1ß, IL-6, IL-8, and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) inflammatory markers. The efficacy of the outcome is measured by performing statistical analysis like the t-test on the data to see its significance. Additionally, variations inside gut microbiome were evaluated via 16S ribosomal RNA sequencing. Results: Before intervention, CP rats failed to exhibit depression-like behavior (P=0.6). L. rhamnosus OF44 treatment significantly reduced the level of IL-6 (P=4.8e-05), S. boulardii treatment significantly reduced the level of TNF-α (P=0.04). In addition, both treatments altered the composition and complexity of the gut microbiome. Conclusions: Our results indicated that L. rhamnosus OF44 has potential in alleviating inflammation and altering the gut microbial composition in CP, and that it has the potential to clinically treat CP. There are some limitations of this study. For example, dietary differences and their effects on gastrointestinal dysfunction are not considered in this study, and only two behavioral experiments were used.

Structural damage of Ni-rich layered oxide cathodes such as LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 (NCM811) and serious interfacial side reactions and physical contact failures with sulfide electrolytes (SEs) are the main obstacles restricting ≥4.6 V high-voltage cyclability of all-solid-state lithium batteries (ASSLBs). To tackle this constraint, here, a modified NCM811 with Li3PO4 coating and B/P co-doping using inexpensive BPO4 as raw materials via the one-step in situ synthesis process is presented. Phosphates have good electrochemical stability and contain the same anion (O2-) and cation (P5+) as in cathode and SEs, respectively, thus Li3PO4 coating precludes interfacial anion exchange, lessening side reactivity. Based on the high bond energy of B─O and P─O, the lattice O and crystal texture of NCM811 can be stabilized by B3+/P5+ co-doping, thereby suppressing microcracks during high-voltage cycling. Therefore, when tested in combination with Li─In anode and Li6PS5Cl solid electrolytes (LPSCl), the modified NCM811 exhibits extraordinary performance, with 200.36 mAh g-1 initial discharge capacity (4.6 V), cycling 2300 cycles with decay rate as low as 0.01% per cycle (1C), and 208.26 mAh g-1 initial discharge capacity (4.8 V), cycling 1986 cycles with 0.02% per cycle decay rate. Simultaneously, it also has remarkable electrochemical abilities at both -20 °C and 60 °C.

Inflammasome activity is important for the immune response and is instrumental in numerous clinical conditions. Here we identify a mechanism that modulates the central Caspase-1 and NLR (Nod-like receptor) adaptor protein ASC (apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD). We show that the function of ASC in assembling the inflammasome is controlled by its modification with SUMO (small ubiquitin-like modifier) and identify that the nuclear ZBTB16 (zinc-finger and BTB domain-containing protein 16) promotes this SUMOylation. The physiological significance of this activity is demonstrated through the reduction of acute inflammatory pathogenesis caused by a constitutive hyperactive inflammasome by ablating ZBTB16 in a mouse model of Muckle-Wells syndrome. Together our findings identify an further mechanism by which ZBTB16-dependent control of ASC SUMOylation assembles the inflammasome to promote this pro-inflammatory response.

To examine the association between prediabetes/type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and hippocampal subfields and to investigate the effects of glycemic control (HbA1c and FBG)/diabetes duration on the volume of hippocampal subfields in T2DM patients. This cross-sectional study included 268 participants from Tianjin Union Medical Center between August 2019 and July 2022. The participants were divided into three groups: T2DM, prediabetes and no diabetes. All participants underwent brain MRI examination on a 3T MRI scanner. FreeSurfer was performed to segment hippocampus automatically based on T1 MPRAGE images. The relationships between glycemic status/glycemic control/diabetes duration and hippocampal subfield volumes were estimated by multiple linear regression analysis/generalized additive modeling (GAM). Among all participants, 76 (28.36%) had prediabetes, and 96 (35.82%) had T2DM. In multi-adjusted linear regression models, those with prediabetes had a significantly lower volume of bilateral parasubiculum (ßright = -5.540; ßleft = -6.497). Those with diabetes had lower volume of parasubiculum (ßleft = -7.868), presubiculum-head (ßleft = -6.244) and fimbria (ßleft = -7.187). We did not find relationship between diabetes duration and hippocampal subfield volumes. In stratified analysis, long duration with high FBG related with lower volume of right fimbria (ßright = -15.583). Long duration with high HbA1c related with lower volume of presubiculum-head (ßright = -19.693), subiculum-head (ßright = -28.303), subiculum-body (ßleft = -38.599), CA1-head (ßright = -62.300, ßleft = -47.922), CA1-body (ßright = -19.043), CA4-body (ßright = -14.392), GC-ML-DG-head (ßright = -20.521), GC-ML-DG-body (ßright = -16.293, ßleft = -12.799), molecular_layer_HP-head (ßright = -44.202, ßleft = -26.071) and molecular_layer_HP-body, (ßright = -31.368), hippocampal_tail (ßleft = -80.073). Prediabetes related with lower bilateral parasubiculum volume, and T2DM related with lower left parasubiculum, presubiculum-head and fimbria. T2DM with chronic poor glycemic control had lower volume in multiple hippocampal subregions.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a serious health threat worldwide, especially for the younger demographic. Our previous study demonstrated that HET0016 (a specific inhibitor of 20-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid synthesis) can decrease the lesion volume in the immature brain post-TBI; however, its mechanism of action and its association with pyroptosis post-TBI are unclear. In this study, we established a controlled cortical impact (CCI) injury rat model (postnatal day 9-10) and observed that increased expression of indicators for pyroptosis, including NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3), caspase-1 and gasdermin D (GSDMD) proteins and interleukin (IL)-18/IL-1ß mRNA during the acute phase of TBI, especially on post-injury day (PID) 1. Additionally, we found that caspase-1 was primarily expressed in the neurons and microglia. HET0016 (1 mg/kg/d, ip, 3 consecutive days since TBI) reduced the lesion volume; neuronal death; expression of NLRP3, caspase-1, and GSDMD; and expression of IL-18/IL-1ß mRNA. Bioinformatics analysis suggested involvement of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway in the HET0016-mediated neuroprotective role against TBI in the immature brain. Western blot analysis revealed reduced expression of p-p38 MAPK and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) p65 in the neurons and microglia upon HET0016 treatment in TBI rats. In cultured primary cortical neurons subjected to oxygen-glucose deprivation/re-oxygenation (OGD) + (lipopolysaccharide) LPS, HET0016-induced the reduction of p-p38 MAPK, NLRP3, cleaved-caspase-1, GSDMD, IL-18, and IL-1ß was reversed by co-treatment with p38 MAPK activator as well as NLRP3 agonist. Therefore, we conclude that pyroptosis is involved in neuronal death in the immature brains post-TBI and that HET0016 administration can alleviate neuronal pyroptosis possibly via inhibiting the phosphorylation of p38 MAPK.

BACKGROUND: ST6GALNAC family members function as sialyltransferases and have been implicated in cancer progression. However, their aberrant expression levels, prognostic values and specific roles in metastatic prostate cancer (PCa) remain largely unclear. METHODS: Two independent public datasets (TCGA-PRAD and GSE21032), containing 648 PCa samples in total, were employed to comprehensively examine the mRNA expression changes of ST6GALNAC family members in PCa, as well as their associations with clinicopathological parameters and prognosis. The dysregulation of ST6GALNAC5 was further validated in a mouse PCa model and human PCa samples from our cohort (n = 64) by immunohistochemistry (IHC). Gene Set Enrichment Analysis, Gene Ontology, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes and drug sensitivity analyses were performed to enrich the biological processes most related to ST6GALNAC5. Sulforhodamine B, transwell, luciferase reporter and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assays were used to examine the PCa cell proliferation, invasion and transcriptional regulation, respectively. RESULTS: Systematical investigation of six ST6GALNAC family members in public datasets revealed that ST6GALNAC5 was the only gene consistently and significantly upregulated in metastatic PCa, and ST6GALNAC5 overexpression was also positively associated with Gleason score and predicted poor prognosis in PCa patients. IHC results showed that (1) ST6GALNAC5 protein expression was increased in prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia and further elevated in PCa from a PbCre;PtenF/F mouse model; (2) overexpressed ST6GALNAC5 protein was confirmed in human PCa samples comparing with benign prostatic hyperplasia samples from our cohort (p < 0.001); (3) ST6GALNAC5 overexpression was significantly correlated with perineural invasion of PCa. Moreover, we first found transcription factor GATA2 positively and directly regulated ST6GALNAC5 expression at transcriptional level. ST6GALNAC5 overexpression could partially reverse GATA2-depletion-induced inhibition of PCa cell invasion. The GATA2-ST6GALNAC5 signature exhibited better prediction on the poor prognosis in PCa patients than GATA2 or ST6GALNAC5 alone. CONCLUSIONS: Our results indicated that GATA2-upregulated ST6GALNAC5 might serve as an adverse prognostic biomarker promoting prostate cancer cell invasion.

Flexible and stretchable substrates based on pure natural polymers have attracted widespread attention for next-generation "green" electronics. However, fabrication of stretchable and "green" electronic sensors with integrated high stretchability, optical transmittance and good conductivity still remains tremendous challenges. Herein, alginate ionic gel films (AIGFs) with integrated high stretchability (tensile strength of 4.13 MPa and 191.1 % fracture strain) and excellent transparent properties (transparency of ∼92 %) are achieved by the glycerol inducing physical crosslinking and CaCl2 initiating ionic crosslinking, a simple soaking and drying strategy. The obtained gel films not only exhibit good ionic conductivity, but also high reliability, wide-range sensing, and multiple sensitivity to external stimulus. More importantly, these ionic conductive gel films as green substrates are successfully utilized for construction of flexible and patterned optoelectronic devices. This promising strategy will open up new powerful routes to construct highly stretchable, transparent, and ionic conductive substrates for multifunctional sensors and devices.

Ionic conductive hydrogel fibers based on natural polymers provide an immense focus for a new generation of electronics due to their flexibility and knittability. The feasibility of utilizing pure natural polymer-based hydrogel fibers could be drastically improved if their mechanical and transparent performances satisfy the requirements of actual practice. Herein, we report a facile fabrication strategy for significantly stretchable and sensitive sodium alginate ionic hydrogel fibers (SAIFs), by glycerol initiating physical crosslinking and by CaCl2 inducing ionic crosslinking. The obtained ionic hydrogel fibers not only show significant stretchability (tensile strength of 1.55 MPa and fracture strain of ∼161 %), but also exhibit wide-range sensing, satisfactorily stable, rapidly responsive, and multiply sensitive abilities to external stimulus. In addition, the ionic hydrogel fibers have excellent transparency (over 90 % in a wide wavelength range), and good anti-evaporation and anti-freezing properties. Furthermore, the SAIFs have been easily knitted into a textile, and successfully applied as wearable sensors to recognize human motions, by observing the output electrical signals. Our methodology for fabrication intelligent SAIFs will shed light on artificial flexible electronics and other textile-based strain sensors.

BACKGROUND: Urinary pan-cancer system is a general term for tumors of the urinary system including renal cell carcinoma (RCC), prostate cancer (PRAD), and bladder cancer (BLCA). Their location, physiological functions, and metabolism are closely related, making the occurrence and outcome of these tumors highly similar. Cuproptosis is a new type of cell death that is different from apoptosis and plays an essential role in tumors. Therefore, it is necessary to study the molecular mechanism of cuproptosis-related lncRNAs to urinary system pan-cancer for the prognosis, clinical diagnosis, and treatment of urinary tumors. METHOD: In our study, we identified 35 co-expression cuproptosis-related lncRNAs (CRLs) from the urinary pan-cancer system. 28 CRLs were identified as prognostic-related CRLs by univariate Cox regression analysis. Then 12 CRLs were obtained using lasso regression and multivariate cox analysis to construct a prognostic model. We divided patients into high- and low-risk groups based on the median risk scores. Next, Kaplan-Meier analysis, principal component analysis (PCA), functional rich annotations, and nomogram were used to compare the differences between the high- and low-risk groups. Finally, the prediction of tumor immune dysfunction and rejection, gene mutation, and drug sensitivity were discussed. CONCLUSION: Finally, the candidate molecules of the urinary system pan-cancer were identified. This CRLs risk model may be promising for clinical prediction of prognosis and immunotherapy response in urinary system pan-cancer patients.

To model the COVID-19 infection and develop effective control measures, this paper proposes an SEIR-type epidemic model considering the impact of face-mask wearing and vaccination. Firstly, the effective reproduction number and the threshold conditions are obtained. Secondly, based on the data of South Korea from January 20, 2022 to March 21, 2022, the model parameters are estimated. Finally, a sensitivity analysis and the numerical study are conducted. The results show that the face-mask wearing is associated with [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] reductions in the numbers of cumulative cases and newly confirmed cases, respectively, after a period of 60 days, when the face mask wearing rate increases by [Formula: see text]. Furthermore, the vaccination rate is associated with [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] reductions in the numbers of cumulative cases and the newly confirmed cases, respectively, after the same period of 60 days when the vaccination rate is increased by [Formula: see text]. A combined measure involving face-mask wearing and vaccination may be more effective and reasonable in preventing and controlling this infection. It is also suggested that disease control departments should strongly recommended the wearing of face masks s as well as vaccination to prevent the unvaccinated people from becoming infected.

RESUMO

Microglia are the principal resident immune cells in the central nervous system (CNS) and play important roles in the development of CNS disorders. In recent years, there have been significant developments in our understanding of microglia, and we now have greater insight into the temporal and spatial patterns of microglia activation in a variety of CNS disorders, as well as the interactions between microglia and neurons. A variety of signaling pathways have been implicated. However, to date, all published clinical trials have failed to demonstrate efficacy over placebo. This review summarizes the results of recent important studies and attempts to provide a mechanistic view of microglia activation, inflammation, tissue repair, and CNS disorders.

Active chlorine is the most widely used disinfectant for water disinfection as well as surface sterilization. Here, we report an air cathode electrochlorinator for point-of-use disinfection of toilet wastewater. The air cathode dominated by a four-electron pathway to reduce O2 to OH- was more suitable for chlorine synthesis than through a two-electron pathway to H2O2, which could reduce chlorine back to chloride ions. The minimum driving potential of the air cathode electrochlorinator was as low as 0.94 V, which made it possible to be directly powered by a piece of commercial mini photovoltaic solar panel without electronic converter. Under the cell voltage of 2 V, the Faraday current efficiency was 82.0 % and the electrical energy required to produce 1 kg active chlorine was estimated to be only 1.75 kWh. The normalized energy consumption to disinfect simulated toilet wastewater with a pathogen concentration of 107 CFU/mL was estimated to be 7.2 W h/m3. Moreover, the material cost for fabrication of the electrochlorinator was estimated to be less than $ 0.62. These features guarantee the air cathode electrochlorinator of high potential for point-of-use disinfection of toilet wastewater.

This study was aimed at probing into the regulatory effects of circular RNA (circRNA)_0001982 on glioma cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and cell cycle, and its underlying mechanism. CircRNA expression profile of glioma tissues/normal brain tissues was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and analyzed. Circ_0001982, microRNA (miRNA, miR)-1205, and E2F transcription factor 1 (E2F1) expressions in glioma tissues and cell lines were quantified using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and/or Western blot. Glioma cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and cell cycle were detected employing cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8), 5-Ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU), scratch-healing, Transwell, and flow cytometry assays, respectively. The targeting relationships between miR-1205 and circ_0001982, and miR-1205 and E2F1 3'UTR were verified using bioinformatics, dual-luciferase reporter experiments, and RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP) assay. Pearson's correlation analysis was applied to detect the correlations among circ_0001982, miR-1205, and E2F1 expression levels. Circ_0001982 expression level was increased in glioma tissues and correlated with larger tumor size. Circ_0001982 overexpression enhanced glioma cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and accelerated cell cycle progression while knocking down circ_0001982 exerted opposite effects. Circ_0001982 directly targeted miR-1205, and miR-1205 directly targeted E2F1. Besides, circ_0001982 could up-regulate E2F1 expression via repressing miR-1205 expression. Circ_0001982 accelerates glioma progression by modulating the miR-1205/E2F1 axis.

Objectives: Protein post-translational modifications (PTMs) are closely associated with tumorigenesis, targeting PTMs of key proteins might be the focus of antitumor drug discovery. This study aimed to analyze the research progress on protein PTMs in tumorigenesis by performing qualitative and quantitative evaluations. Methods: The Web of Science Core Collection was selected as the database, and Science Citation Index Expanded was selected as the citation index. Visualization tools such as VOSviewer, CiteSpace, HistCite, and Online Analysis Platform of Bibliometrics were used to deeply explore the information of the retrieved research papers and analyze them in terms of research trends and main aspects of research. Results: The search yielded 3777 relevant articles. The results showed that the total number of PTMs related papers in cancer field has been increasing annually, with the largest number of papers published in the United States of America. The co-word cluster analysis showed that the research on PTMs and tumorigenesis was primarily focused on the following four areas, mechanism, histone, P53, key Technologies. Tumor metabolism, autophagy, and protein-protein interaction, histone ubiquitination have become new research topics. Conclusion: This study provides an important reference for the research direction and selection of topics of interest in the PTMs of cancer field.

Heart failure (HF) is the main manifestation of cardiovascular disease. Recent studies have shown that various RNA molecules and their complex connections play an essential role in HF's pathogenesis and pathological progression. This paper aims to mine key RNA molecules associated with HF. We proposed a Prior-knowledge Driven Joint Deep Semi-Negative Matrix Factorization (PD-JDSNMF) model that uses a hierarchical nonlinear feature extraction method that integrates three types of data: mRNA, lncRNA, and miRNA. The PPI information is added to the model as prior knowledge, and the Laplacian constraint is used to help the model resist the noise in the genetic data. We used the PD-JDSNMF algorithm to identify significant co-expression modules. The elements in the module are then subjected to bioinformatics analysis and algorithm performance analysis. The results show that the PD-JDSNMF algorithm can robustly select biomarkers associated with HF. Finally, we built a heart failure diagnostic model based on multiple classifiers and using the Top 13 genes in the significant module, the AUC of the internal test set was up to 0.8714, and the AUC of the external validation set was up to 0.8329, which further confirmed the effectiveness of the PD-JDSNMF algorithm.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has been reported to be associated with NLRP3 inflammasome activation. Therefore inhibiting inflammasome activation could be a new approach to treat IBD. Inflammasome inhibitors NLRP3-IN-2, JC124, and 3,4-methylenedioxy-ß-nitrostyrene (MNS) were previously reported to exert anti-inflammatory effects in various disease models but not in the dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis model. Here, we showed that MNS was more efficient in inhibiting the secretion of interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß) by blocking oligomerization of apoptosis-associated speck-like protein (ASC) than NLRP3-IN-2 and JC124. To investigate the protective effects of MNS on enteritis, we administered intragastric MNS to DSS-induced colitis mice. The results demonstrated that MNS attenuated DSS-induced body weight loss, colon length shortening, and pathological damage. In addition, MNS inhibited the infiltration of macrophages and inflammatory cells and reduced IL-1ß and IL-12p40 pro-inflammatory cytokines but had no significant effect on tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) and IL-6. Furthermore, we also found that the differentiation of IL-17A+interferon-γ (IFN-γ)+CD4+ T cell was decreased in the colon after MNS treatment, which might be mediated by IL-1ß, etc. cytokine release. Taken together, MNS alleviated DSS-induced intestinal inflammation by inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome activation, which may function as an effective therapeutic for IBD.

The spills of crude oil and other organic chemicals are common around the world, resulting in severe damage to the environment and ecosystem. Therefore, developing low-cost and eco-friendly absorption material is in urgent need. In this study, we report a superhydrophobic and oleophilic porous material using biomass cuttlebone as the scaffold. A layer of polydopamine is grafted on the cuttlebone as the adhesion layer between the cuttlebone and the superhydrophobic coating. The in situ grown silica micro/nanoparticles on top of the adhesion layer provide the anchoring spots for grafting the fluorinated hydrocarbon and a rough topography for realizing superhydrophobicity. The static water contact angle of the superhydrophobic cuttlebone reaches 152°, and its oil contact angle is ~0°. The excellent oil-water separation efficiency of the prepared superhydrophobic cuttlebone is demonstrated using high-density oil/water mixtures and low-density oil/water mixtures.

Phytotherapy offers obvious advantages in the intervention of Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), but it is difficult to clarify the working mechanisms of the medicinal materials it uses. DGS is a natural vasoprotective combination that was screened out in our previous research, yet its potential components and mechanisms are unknown. Therefore, in this study, HPLC-MS and network pharmacology were employed to identify the active components and key signaling pathways of DGS. Transgenic zebrafish and HUVECs cell assays were used to evaluate the effectiveness of DGS. A total of 37 potentially active compounds were identified that interacted with 112 potential targets of CAD. Furthermore, PI3K-Akt, MAPK, relaxin, VEGF, and other signal pathways were determined to be the most promising DGS-mediated pathways. NO kit, ELISA, and Western blot results showed that DGS significantly promoted NO and VEGFA secretion via the upregulation of VEGFR2 expression and the phosphorylation of Akt, Erk1/2, and eNOS to cause angiogenesis and vasodilation. The result of dynamics molecular docking indicated that Salvianolic acid C may be a key active component of DGS in the treatment of CAD. In conclusion, this study has shed light on the network molecular mechanism of DGS for the intervention of CAD using a network pharmacology-driven strategy for the first time to aid in the intervention of CAD.

An all-solid-state battery enabled by the incombustible and highly Li-ion conductive sulfide solid-state electrolyte, is recognized to be a strong candidate for next-generation of lithium-ion batteries. Intensive research efforts have been devoted to developing the well-suited sulfide electrolytes with outstanding performances. Although several types of sulfide electrolytes have achieved superionic conductivities with excellent deformability, the air-sensitive behaviors of them are detrimental to the large-scale production. Considerable efforts are in progress to tackle this issue via various strategies in recent years. This review provides an overview of several classes of promising sulfide solid electrolytes. The principle and strategies for improving the resistance of these sulfide electrolytes against air are thoroughly discussed. We also point out the major challenges that all-solid-state batteries and different types of sulfide electrolytes face for practical applications.
