Due to exposure to emissions from a protein-vitamin concentrate-manufacturing enterprise, the total and allergic morbidity rates remained high in the Blagoveshchensk population during a follow-up, the incidence of asthma and atopic dermatitis being on the rise and that of pollen disease on the decrease. The findings show the need for a further follow-up of the health status of the population of this area, the living conditions in which are risk factors for allergic and toxic allergic diseases even after microbiological industry closure.

The authors studied protective efficiency of tietasol and oxymethyluracyl in experiments with animals exposed to 2,4-dichlorphenol and in real chlorphenol production. According to the results, oxymethyluracyl could be recommended to increase resistance against chemicals in occupational conditions.

The paper describes the methodology and the method package developed by Russia's investigators to estimate varying levels of the deleterious effects of toxicants on the environmental objects: working area and ambient airs and out-of-door water reservoirs. It proves it possible to predict the safe exposure levels and some selective activities of toxicants and to develop low-toxic compounds at their design stage on the basis of quantum chemistry and the structural fragments of substances.

These properties make the medication essential for treatment and prophylaxis of intoxications of occupational and ecologic origin, as their underlying mechanisms are associated with prooxidant effects.
