[Treatment of inflammatory diseases of the brain with kanamycin]. / K lecheniiu vospalitel'nykh zabolevanii golovnogo mozga kanamitsinom

On the basis of clinical trials with 20 patients suffering from acute inflammatory diseases of the brain recommendations for determination of indications for rational use of kanamycin were formulated. Kanamycin proved to be effective in treatment of severe forms of neuroinfections caused by gramnegative bacteria, as well as mixed and resistant staphylococcal infections. With the account of the clinical state the use of the drug should be preceded by bacteriological tests with qualitative and quantitative determination of sensitivity of the isolates to the antibiotics.
