[Possibilities of restoration of fresh ligament injuries of the knee]. / A friss térdszalagsérülések helyreállítási lehetöségei.

Author briefly summarizes the changes in the aspects and diagnostics of the ligament injuries of the knee. He deals with the methods of treatment used at his Department and with the operative procedures and describes in details the types of injuries of the single parts and the possibilities of reconstruction. His unambigous opinion is that in fresh ligament injuries the best result can be expected from the early complete reconstruction. In spite of the fact that "restitutio and integrum" can be reached only in the minority of the cases, the results are better than in conservative treatment or in ligamentous plasties.

Morphological investigations of a porous aluminum oxide ceramic and the consequences for clinical application.

The ingrowth of bone and the tissue compatibility of a Hungarian aluminum-oxide ceramic have been investigated in animal experiments by microscopic section, by electron microscopy, and with energy-dispersion X-ray microanalysis. Surrounding bone grew into the 100- to 500-micron pores of the porous ceramic without any undesirable reaction, as well as into bored holes 500 micron in diameter. It is technically possible to make only the 1- to 2-mm deep superficial layer of such a material macroporous, so that it can be applied as an acetabular component of hip prostheses; if the surrounding bone grows into the macropores of this thin layer (as was shown in our experiment) it can perfect the connection between the living bone and the non-living ceramic material without essentially changing the much required, positive qualities of a solid acetabular component. The authors intend to apply this material in this way.

[Our corrective osteotomy for radius fractures healed in defective position at the typical spot]. / Unsere Korrekturosteotomie in Fehlstellung geheilter Frakturen der Speiche an der typischen Stelle.

Authors give literary survey about correction possibilities of Colles fractures healed in failed position. In their paper the procedure of their clinic reviewed: with oscillating saw a wedge is removed from the radius on place of the failed fracture and so the normal angles of the radiocarpal joint can be restored. But at the same time the ulna must also be shortened with removal of a segment from the distal part. Both bones will be fixed laterally with ASIF semi-tubular plates. Results were evaluated with the McBride point system. From 23 cases 22 were available for follow up examination. 8 cases were "excellent", 13 "good", 1 "fair". There was no "bad" among the cases. Our favourable results support advantages of this method.

[The treatment of the extensor tendon injuries of the hand (author's transl)]. / A kéz feszítöin-sérüléseinek kezelése.

The authors treated 101 extensor tendon injuries from 1973 to 1978 in the traumatological ward of the Ist Department of Surgery at the Medical University of Pécs. During the period the number of flexor tendon injuries were only the half of the extensor tendon injuries. The methods of the employed treatments were evaluated in details by the 73 extensor tendon injuries of the 62 reexamined patients. This was almost the 2/3 part (61%) of the total extensor tendon injuries. The period between the operation and the reexamination was at least one year. Discussing the different kinds of injuries the importance of the primary repair and of the reconstructions of the anatomical connections was emphasized, moreover it was underlined that the treatment of the major extensor tendon lesions are the duty of those hand surgeons who are working in special departments.

[Can we reduce complications of treatment of femoral neck fractures with better stabilisation of the osteosynthesis? Results of a compression-osteosynthesis (author's transl)]. / Lassen sich mit der Verbesserung der Stabilität einer Schenkelhalsosteosynthese die Komplikationen bei der Heilung vermindern? Ergebnisse einer Kompressionsosteosynthese der Schenkelhalsfraktur

The results of a compression-osteosynthesis of the fracture of the femoral neck on the evidence of 172 cases realizing the principle of a drawing-screw-compression of the AO have been reported. The results will be compared with the data of collected statistics of other types of nailing of the femoral neck and it will be established, that the better stabilisation of fractur will be manifest in the results too and will be realised in the decrease of complications (slipping of the nail, redislocation, pseudarthrosis, avascular necrosis of the head).
