[Effect of various methods of functional osteosynthesis on healing of the femoral diaphysis fractures in adults]. / Vliianie razlichnykh metodov funktsional'nogo osteosinteza na zazhivlenie perelomov diafiza bedrennoi kosti u vzroslykh.

Our objective in this investigation was to study healing of fractures of the femur diaphysis treated with different methods of fixation. A total of 177 patients who ranged from 16 to 80 years old were examined. It has been ascertained that union is through secondary callousity formation. Our techniques for screw adjustment involving the use of a dynamic compression plate and intraosseous nail made for a complete consolidation of fractured bone fragments within one year. The use of a plate with screws arranged at an interval of up to 1 sm near the plane of the fracture or external fixation unit prolonged healing time. Recommendations have been worked out in the course of the study to improve methods of treatment of fractures of the femur diaphysis.
