RESUMO

Neuralgic muscular atrophy is not uncommon in clinical practice. Due to the different branches of brachial plexus involved in the lesion, the clinical symptoms are different, and there is a lack of clear imaging diagnostic criteria, so the diagnosis of this disease brings great challenges to clinicians. We have certain experience in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease, and hereby select a representative case of neuralgic muscular atrophy to share its diagnosis and treatment process, focusing on analyzing the characteristic symptoms of this disease, valuable imaging data and targeted treatment, so as to enable clinicians to better understand this disease.

A novel strategy combining ferulic acid and glucose was proposed to reduce ß-lactoglobulin (BLG) allergenicity and investigate whether the reduction in allergenicity was associated with gut microbiome and serum metabolism. As a result, the multistructure of BLG changed, and the modified BLG decreased significantly the contents of IgE, IgG, IgG1, and mMCP-1 in serum, improved the diversity and structural composition of gut microbiota, and increased the content of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in allergic mice. Meanwhile, allergic mice induced by BLG affected arachidonic acid, tryptophan, and other metabolic pathways in serum, the modified BLG inhibited the production of metabolites in arachidonic acid metabolism pathway and significantly increased tryptophan metabolites, and this contribution helps in reducing BLG allergenicity. Overall, reduced allergenicity of BLG after ferulic acid was combined with glucose modification by regulating gut microbiota, the metabolic pathways of arachidonic acid and tryptophan. The results may offer new thoughts alleviating the allergy risk of allergenic proteins.

Background: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a lethal disease, often diagnosed at an advanced stage. Systemic chemotherapy is the primary treatment, but direct comparisons of different regimens are limited. This study conducted a systematic review and network meta-analysis (NMA) to compare the efficacy and safety of various chemotherapy regimens, with the unique advantage of only including Phase III randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Methods: NMA was conducted regarding the searched phase III RCTs by comparing overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), objective response rate (ORR), and adverse events (AEs) of different chemotherapy protocols. Results: The analysis included 24 studies with 11470 patients across 25 treatment modalities. Among the chemotherapy regimens evaluated, FOLFIRINOX (fluorouracil, leucovorin, irinotecan, and oxaliplatin) demonstrated the highest OS and PFS, with a risk ratio (logHR) of 4.5 (95 % confidence interval 4.32-4.68) compared to gemcitabine monotherapy. The PEFG regimen (cisplatin, epirubicin, 5-fluorouracil, and gemcitabine) exhibited the highest ORR, with an odds ratio (OR) of 6.67 (2.08-20) compared to gemcitabine monotherapy. Notably, gemcitabine plus sorafenib was associated with the lowest hematological toxicity, with an odds ratio (OR) of 0.1 (0.02-0.48). Conclusion: Combination therapies may offer greater benefits but also cause more toxic effects. However, combinations with targeted agents seem to have fewer adverse reactions.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) in the treatment of diabetic patients with refractory wound. Background: Refractory wound is one of the most challenging clinical complications of diabetes mellitus. Studies have shown that PBMT can promote wound healing in many ways. Methods: We reported a 55-year-old male patient with refractory diabetic wound after secretory carcinoma of the parotid gland surgery responding to 810 nm laser. Results: After PBMT, the refractory diabetic wound healed gradually without adverse events. During follow-up 5-years, the healed wound remained stable and showed no signs of recurrence. Conclusions: PBMT can be potentially considered as a therapeutic method in diabetic patients with refractory diabetic wound.

Craniofacial malformations, often associated with syndromes, are prevalent birth defects. Emerging evidence underscores the importance of m6A modifications in various bioprocesses such as stem cell differentiation, tissue development, and tumorigenesis. Here, in vivo, experiments with zebrafish models revealed that mettl3-knockdown embryos at 144 h postfertilization exhibited aberrant craniofacial features, including altered mouth opening, jaw dimensions, ethmoid plate, tooth formation and hypoactive behavior. Similarly, low METTL3 expression inhibited the proliferation and migration of BMSCs, HEPM cells, and DPSCs. Loss of METTL3 led to reduced mRNA m6A methylation and PSEN1 expression, impacting craniofacial phenotypes. Co-injection of mettl3 or psen1 mRNA rescued the level of Sox10 fusion protein, promoted voluntary movement, and mitigated abnormal craniofacial phenotypes induced by mettl3 knockdown in zebrafish. Mechanistically, YTHDF1 enhanced the mRNA stability of m6A-modified PSEN1, while decreased METTL3-mediated m6A methylation hindered ß-catenin binding to PSEN1, suppressing Wnt/ß-catenin signaling. Pharmacological activation of the Wnt/ß-catenin pathway partially alleviated the phenotypes of mettl3 morphant and reversed the decreases in cell proliferation and migration induced by METTL3 silencing. This study elucidates the pivotal role of METTL3 in craniofacial development via the METTL3/YTHDF1/PSEN1/ß-catenin signaling axis.

Castleman disease (CD), a distinct lymphoproliferative disorder, is infrequently encountered in clinical practice and poses significant diagnostic challenges. We present the case of a 48-year-old asymptomatic female, admitted for evaluation of a hepatic mass detected in the liver's right lobe. Preoperative laboratory tests were within normal limits. Diagnostic imaging, including contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), was suggestive of hepatocellular carcinoma. Furthermore, contrast-enhanced abdominal computed tomography (CT) scans were indicative of hepatic malignancy. Subsequently, the patient underwent laparoscopic surgery targeting a retroperitoneal mass. During the surgical procedure, it was observed that the tumor was a retroperitoneal mass situated posterior to the liver, exhibiting localized adhesion to hepatic tissue. The postoperative histopathological analysis revealed the mass to be hyaline-vascular type Castleman disease (HV-CD), thereby refuting the initial diagnosis of a hepatic malignancy. This case underscores the complexity of diagnosing retroperitoneal Castleman disease, particularly when it masquerades as a hepatic tumor.

BACKGROUND: There is still a lack of knowledge on the association between cholecystectomy and liver disease. This study was conducted to summarize the available evidence on the association of cholecystectomy with liver disease and quantify the magnitude of the risk of liver disease after cholecystectomy. METHODS: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library were searched systematically from database inception to January 2023 to identify eligible studies that evaluated the association between cholecystectomy and the risk of liver disease. Meta-analysis was conducted to obtain a summary odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) using a random-effects model. RESULTS: We identified 20 studies with a total of 27 320 709 individuals and 282 670 liver disease cases. Cholecystectomy was associated with an increased risk of liver disease (OR: 1.63, 95% CI: 1.34-1.98). In particular, cholecystectomy was found to be significantly associated with a 54% increased risk of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (OR: 1.54, 95% CI: 1.18-2.01), a 173% increased risk of cirrhosis (OR: 2.73, 95% CI: 1.81-4.12), and a 46% increased risk of primary liver cancer (OR: 1.46, 95% CI: 1.18-1.82). CONCLUSIONS: There is an association between cholecystectomy and the risk of liver disease. Our results suggest that strict surgical indications should be implemented to reduce unnecessary cholecystectomy. Additionally, the routine assessment of liver disease is necessary for patients with a history of cholecystectomy. More prospective large-sample studies are required for better estimates of the risk.

Ovalbumin (OVA) was modified by fructose (Fru) and galactose (Gal) to study the structure, IgG/IgE binding capacity and effects on human intestinal microbiota of the conjugated products. Compared with OVA-Fru, OVA-Gal has a lower IgG/IgE binding capacity. The reduction of OVA is not only associated with the glycation of R84, K92, K206, K263, K322 and R381 in the linear epitopes, but also with conformational epitope changes, manifested as secondary and tertiary structural changes caused by Gal glycation. In addition, OVA-Gal could alter the structure and abundance of gut microbiota at phylum, family, and genus levels and restore the abundance of bacteria associated with allergenicity, such as Barnesiella, Christensenellaceae_R-7_group, and Collinsela, thereby reducing allergic reactions. These results indicate that OVA-Gal glycation can reduce the IgE binding capacity of OVA and change the structure of human intestinal microbiota. Therefore, Gal glycation may be a potential method to reduce protein allergenicity.

BACKGROUND: Circular RNA homeodomain interacting protein kinase 3 (circHIPK3) has been implicated in facilitating angiogenesis in various conditions. However, its role in steroid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) remains unclear. OBJECTIVES: To investigate whether circHIPK3 promotes bone microvascular activity and angiogenesis by targeting miR-7 and Krüppel-like factor 4 (KLF4)/vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling in ONFH. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Fifty patients with steroid-induced ONFH undergoing hip-preserving surgery or total hip arthroplasty were included in this study. The expression of circHIPK3, miR-7 and KLF4 was evaluated using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in necrotic and healthy samples of the femoral head. Bone microvascular endothelial cells (BMECs) were extracted and cultured with 0.1 mg/mL hydrocortisone to create a hormonally deficient cell model. These BMECs were then transfected with either circHIPK3 overexpressing or silencing plasmids with or without miR-7 mimics. The MTT assays were used to detect cell proliferation. Scratch assays were used to assess the migration ability of the BMECs. The tube formation was carried out using an in vitro Matrigel angiogenesis assay. Annexin V-FITC/PI and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assays were used to assess the degree of apoptosis. Western blot assays were carried out to discern KLF4 and VEGF expression. The interactions of circHIPK3, miR-7 and KLF4 were confirmed using luciferase, RNA-binding protein immunoprecipitation (RIP), RNA pull-down, and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) assays. RESULTS: The circHIPK3 and KLF4 expression was decreased, whereas miR-7 expression was increased in necrotic tissues compared to non-necrotic samples. Both circHIPK3 and KLF4 expression correlated negatively with miR-7. The overexpression of circHIPK3 promoted the proliferative, migratory and angiogenic capabilities of the BMECs, while adding an miR-7 mimic reversed these effects. At the same time, the overexpression of circHIPK3 reduced the apoptosis rate of the BMECs and increased KLF4 and VEGF protein expression, but adding an miR-7 mimic reversed these effects. The FISH, RNA pull-down, RIP, and luciferase assays revealed an interaction between circHIPK3, miR-7 and KLF4. CONCLUSIONS: The circHIPK3 promotes BMEC proliferation, migration and angiogenesis by targeting miR-7 and KLF4/VEGF signaling.

Drought intensity and frequency have been increased as a result of global warming. Exploring the drought resistance mechanism of Robinia pseudoacacia plantations of different stand ages on the Loess Plateau is crucial for understanding the stability of forest productivity in the region. We investigated anatomical traits, hydraulic function, and non-structural carbohydrate content of the xylem, as well as their association, in R. pseudoacacia plantations of different stand ages in a semi-arid region. The results showed that the vessel diameter, total pit membrane area, pit membrane area, vesture area, and vestured overlap of young and middle-aged stands were larger than those of mature stands, and the pit density was significantly lower in mature stands. Hydraulic conductivity was significantly related to vessel diameter, pit membrane area, and vesture area. Hydraulic conductivities of branches in young, middle-aged, and mature stands were 2.30, 2.12, and 0.76 kg·m-1·s-1·MPa-1, respectively, with embolism values of 54.5%, 53.8%, and 45.1%. Hydraulic conductivity was significantly related to soluble sugar and starch contents. The soluble sugar contents of branches in young, middle-aged and mature stands were 4.9%, 4.2%, and 3.8%, respectively. Xylem growth capacity of R. pseudoacacia in mature stand declined, resulting in the formation of small vessels with many small pits, which reduced hydraulic conductivity while maintaining hydraulic safety, resulting in a decrease of non-structural carbohydrates content. This study revealed the drought response mechanism of R. pseudoacacia plantations with different ages, providing a scientific foundation for the management and nurturing of R. pseudoacacia plantations on the Loess Plateau.

BACKGROUND: Air embolism is a very rare, yet serious and potentially fatal complication of digestive endoscopic treatment. Air embolism is the result of air directly entering the arteries or veins. However, to recognize neurological dysfunction under sedation can be difficult. Therefore, it is extremely important to identify high-risk groups and take preventive measures. CASE SUMMARY: Herein, we report a 74-year-old female patient with esophageal varices who suffered from consciousness disturbance after the third endoscopic ligation of esophageal varices under sedation. Combined with the patient's imaging examination results and medical history, we highly suspected that the patient had developed paradoxical cerebral air embolism during endoscopic ligation. We learned that the patient died at a later follow-up. In order to be able to identify and prevent the occurrence of air embolism early, we summarize and analyze the risk factors, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, prevention and treatment options of gastrointestinal endoscopy complicated by cerebral air embolism. CONCLUSION: Electroencephalographic monitoring helps to recognize the occurrence of air embolism in time and increase the patient's chance of survival.

The long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) DLGAP1-AS2 has recently been characterized as an oncogenic lncRNA in several cancers. However, its biological roles and clinical significance in gastric cancer (GC) remains barely understood. In this study, we performed a systematic analysis of DLGAP1-AS2 expression with data from the TCGA and GEO database as well as our clinic GC samples. In agreement with previous studies, our findings demonstrated that DLGAP1-AS2 was significantly up-regulated in GC and its high expression was associated with poor prognosis, suggesting that DLGAP1-AS2 might be a putative oncogenic lncRNA of GC. Loss of DLGAP1-AS2 restricted cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in GC cell lines. Mechanically, Wnt1 was identified as the downstream target of DLGAP1-AS2 by using bioinformatics analysis coupled with qPCR and Western blot assays. Furthermore, DLGAP1-AS2 was found to directly interact with the transcriptional repressor Six3, and this interaction hampered Six3 binding to the promoter regions of the Wnt1 gene, thereby leading to transcriptional activation of Wnt1. Consequently, GC cells lacking DLGAP1-AS2 showed a decreased Wnt1 expression and weakened Wnt/ß-catenin signaling. Further, Six3 silencing could reverse the above effects, highlighting a pivotal role of Six3 in the DLGAP1-AS2-mediated activation of Wnt/ß-catenin signaling. Either genetic (Wnt1 knockdown) or pharmacological (LF3) inhibition of Wnt/ß-catenin signaling could effectively abolish the activation of Wnt/ß-catenin signaling by Six3 depletion, thereby preventing GC cell malignant transformation. Taken together, our results suggest that DLGAP1-AS2 functions as an oncogenic factor by directly interacting with Six3 to relieve its suppression on Wnt1 expression, thereby driving the malignancy of GC. DLGAP1-AS2/Six3/Wnt1/ß-catenin signaling axis might serve as a promising diagnostic and therapeutic target for GC.

Parvalbumin (PV) is one of the major allergens in fish. The aim of our present work was to research the influence mechanism of glycation with different reducing sugars (glucose, fructose, ribose, lactose, and galactose) on the immunoglobulin E (IgE) and immunoglobulin G (IgG) binding capacity and structure changes of PV in Alaska Pollock. PV glycated with glucose or fructose (PV-Glu/ PV-Fru) exhibited the higher IgE/IgG binding capacities than that of ribose, galactose, or lactose. During glycation, the lysine (Lyr), tyrosine (Tyr), and phenylalanine (Phe) of PV were gradually embed into core area of three-dimensional structure of protein, which reflected in the ultraviolet (UV) spectrum and fluorescence spectra. Moreover, the increase of surface hydrophobicity had confirmed the conformation alteration of glycated PV. These results suggest that there is a specific association among the change of PV in glycation and in potential allergenicity. The types and conformation of reducing sugar greatly influenced the IgE/IgG binding capacity of PV, and glycation with ribose and galactose was a promising approach for reducing the IgE/IgG binding capacity of PV from Alaska Pollock. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS: Parvalbumin (PV), the major allergen of fish, it can not only maintain the physiological activity of cells, but also cross react with human amyloid protein to alleviate Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's syndrome. This study revealed that the IgE/IgG binding capacity and structural changes of PV from Alaska Pollock modified by glycation with different reducing sugars. This will help us to understand the sensitization and structural change of the glycated products after the reaction of PV with different reducing sugars. It provides an effective carbonyl source for the preparation of low antigenicity PV based on glycation and lays a foundation for glycation modification of other food allergens.

The effect of cosolvent on trace free water in the determination of the contamination degree of jet fuel was investigated. The interference of trace free water on the automatic particle counter can be eliminated by adding isopropanol as a cosolvent to the measured oil sample. Isopropanol can dissolve trace free water in oil. Addition of isopropanol could stabilize the pollution grade of particles with size ≥30 µm (c) at the same level, which is most obviously affected by free water without isopropanol. The standard uncertainty u(X 1) is slightly reduced with the addition of isopropanol, and the repeatability and accuracy of the automatic particle counting method are obviously improved. The results show that isopropanol should be added as a cosolvent to eliminate the interference of free water when the contamination degree of jet fuel oil samples with obvious free water is determined by the automatic particle counting method.

An ion-channel-forming natural peptide, gramicidin A (1), exhibits potent antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, although medical applications are limited to topical use due to its mammalian cytotoxicity. We recently reported that the artificial macrocyclic analogue 2 provides a promising starting point for developing new ion-channel-based systemic antibacterial agents because of its low mammalian cytotoxicity compared to that of the parent 1. To dissect the molecular factors involved in the species selectivity of 2, we evaluated the ion transport activities, phospholipid affinities, and conformational properties of 1 and 2 using various compositions of phospholipids. A combination of lipid dot blot assays and circular dichroism (CD) analysis with H+/Na+ exchange assays revealed that the higher H+/Na+ exchange activity of 2 than that of 1 in liposomes containing 1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphatidylcholine (POPC) or 1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-(1'-rac-glycerol) (POPG) is attributable to its higher affinity towards the phospholipids than that of 1. Notably, we also discovered that 2 showed weaker H+/Na+ exchange activity in liposomes containing 1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphatidylethanolamine (POPE). CD analysis of 2 in liposomes indicated that the weak H+/Na+ exchange activity is induced by disturbance of the ion-conducting ß6.3-helical conformation in the POPE-containing lipid bilayer. These results suggest that the POPE-induced attenuation of the ion-conducting activity of 2 contributes to the alleviation of undesirable mammalian cytotoxicity of 2 compared to that of 1.

To investigate the physiological response of IAA (indoleacetic acid) to Trichosanthes kirilowii under aluminum stress and the mitigation of DNA damage, the effects of IAA (0, 10, 25, 50, 75 µmol·L-1 denoted by I0, I10, I25, I50 and I75, respectively) on antioxidant enzyme activity, malondialdehyde (MDA), photosynthetic characteristics, root activity, chlorophyll content and DNA damage of two varieties of T. kirilowii under 300 and 800 µmol·L-1 aluminum environment (denoted by Al300 and Al800, respectively) were examined in hydroponic culture experiments with Hebei Anguo (aluminium tolerant variety) and Zhejiang Puyang Trichosanthes kirilowii (aluminum sensitive variety). The results showed that the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD) and catalase (CAT), photosynthesis ability, and root activity of both varieties were inhibited to different degrees by aluminum stress, MDA content was significantly increased, and DNA damage was aggravated. The maximum increase of SOD, CAT and POD activities in Anguo and Puyang T. kirilowii under aluminum stress by IAA application were 15.0%, 31.2%, 72.3% and 13.8%, 26.9%, 26.4%, respectively, chlorophyll content increased by 49.9% and 17.9%, MDA accumulation decreased by 39.2% and 22.4% and fluorescence parameters were significantly improved. The treatment of 25 µmol·L-1 IAA significantly increased root activity by 159.1% and 90.9%, while 50 µmol·L-1 IAA effectively slowed the DNA tailing phenomenon in roots, with the product (OTM) value of tail DNA percentage content and tail moment being decreased by 27.6%. 10-50 µmol·L-1 IAA could effectively improve the physiological activity of T. kirilowii under aluminum stress and slow the degree of DNA damage. The tolerance of Anguo variety to aluminum stress was stronger than that of Puyang variety.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a common cancer found in the nasopharynx, which plagues countless NPC patients. MicroRNA-372 (miR-372) has been reported to be involved in various tumors. Here, we explored the important role of miR-372 in radiosensitivity, invasion, and metastasis of NPC. Microarray analysis was conducted to search the NPC-related differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and predict the miRs regulating PBK, which suggested that miR-372 could influence the development of NPC via PBK and the p53 signaling pathway. Importantly, miR-372 was observed to target PBK, thus down-regulating its expression. Then, NPC 5-8F and C666-1 cells were selected, and treated with ionization radiation and alteration of miR-372 and PBK expression to explore the functional role of miR-372 in NPC. The expression of miR-372, PBK, Bcl-2, p53, and Bax as well as the extent of Akt phosphorylation were measured. In addition, cell colony formation, cell cycle, proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion were detected. At last, tumor growth and the effect of miR-372 on radiosensitivity of NPC were evaluated. Besides, over-expressed miR-372 down-regulated Bcl-2 and PBK expression and the extent of Akt phosphorylation while up-regulated the expression of p53 and Bax. Additionally, miR-372 over-expression and radiotherapy inhibited cell clone formation, proliferation, tumor growth, migration, invasion, and cell cycle entry, but promoted cell apoptosis. However, the restoration of PBK in NPC cells expressing miR-372 reversed the anti-tumor effect of miR-372 and activation of the p53 signaling pathway. In conclusion, the study shows that up-regulated miR-372 promotes radiosensitivity by activating the p53 signaling pathway via inhibition of PBK.

This study was performed to evaluate effects of Armillariella tabescens (A. tabescens) on the growth performance and intestinal immune response and microflora in early-weaned pigs when used as feed additive. A. tabescens mycelia were added to basal diets at concentrations of 0%, 0.1%, 0.3% or 0.9% (w/w). A total of 144 commercial cross-bred piglets were randomly allocated to one of these four diets and fed for 30 days. The growth performance of early-weaned piglets displayed improvement with diets containing 0.1% and 0.3% dried mycelia powder from A. tabescens. Supplementing with 0.1% or 0.3% A. tabescens mycelia induced a 2.6- and three-fold increase in secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA) content in the jejunal mucosa, respectively, but had only a marginal effect on sIgA in the ileal mucosa. Expression of interleukin-2, interferon-γ, and tumor necrosis factor-α in the jejunal mucosa were elevated with A. tabescens mycelia administration. Increased amounts of Lactobacillus spp. and Bifidobacterium spp. in the jejunum, and decreased amounts of Escherichia coli in the jejunum and ileum were observed with the administration of A. tabescens-containing diets. This study demonstrated that A. tabescens had beneficial effects on the growth performance and intestinal microflora of early-weaned pigs.

AIM: To evaluate the efficacy of centralized culture and possible influencing factors. METHODS: From January 2010 to July 2012, 66452 patients with suspected Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection from 26 hospitals in Zhejiang and Jiangsu Provinces in China underwent gastrointestinal endoscopy. Gastric mucosal biopsies were taken from the antrum for culture. These biopsies were transported under natural environmental temperature to the central laboratory in Hangzhou city and divided into three groups based on their transport time: 5, 24 and 48 h. The culture results were reported after 72 h and the positive culture rates were analyzed by a χ (2) test. An additional 5736 biopsies from H. pylori-positive patients (5646 rapid urease test-positive and 90 (14)C-urease breath test-positive) were also cultured for quality control in the central laboratory setting. RESULTS: The positive culture rate was 31.66% (21036/66452) for the patient samples and 71.72% (4114/5736) for the H. pylori-positive quality control specimens. In the 5 h transport group, the positive culture rate was 30.99% (3865/12471), and 32.84% (14960/45553) in the 24 h transport group. In contrast, the positive culture rate declined significantly in the 48 h transport group (26.25%; P < 0.001). During transportation, the average natural temperature increased from 4.67 to 29.14 °C, while the positive culture rate declined from 36.67% (1462/3987) to 24.12% (1799/7459). When the temperature exceeded 24 °C, the positive culture rate decreased significantly, especially in the 48 h transport group (23.17%). CONCLUSION: Transportation of specimens within 24 h and below 24 °C is reasonable and acceptable for centralized culture of multicenter H. pylori samples.
