Timing of clopidogrel loading dose on peripheral blood endothelial progenitor cells, SDF-1α and neointimal hyperplasia in carotid stenting.

BACKGROUND: Carotid stenting stimulates intimal proliferation through platelet and stem cell activation. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to evaluate whether the administration before or after carotid stenting of clopidogrel loading dose may play a role on circulating endothelial progenitor cells, stromal cell-derived factor-1α (SDF-1α) and neointimal hyperplasia. METHODS: We recruited 13 patients (aged 74.52±7.23) with indication of carotid revascularization and in therapy with salicylic acid and statin. We blindly randomized them in two groups: pre-carotid angioplasty with stent (Pre-CAS group) receiving 300 mg of clopidogrel before stenting, and post-carotid angioplasty with stent (Post-CAS group) receiving 300 mg after stenting. At the admission, we valued endothelial progenitor cells, SDF-1α and prospectively we repeated blood samples and measured intima-media thickness to estimate neointimal hyperplasia on the stent at 3, 6 and 12 months. RESULTS: In the days following the CAS, we found a lower, statistically not significant, trend of endothelial progenitor cells in Pre-CAS group. The SDF-1α concentration tended to be lower at baseline in the pre-CAS group than in the post-CAS group and it did not show an increase in the observed time. On the contrary, in the Post-CAS group we observed a peak at six hours with a significant reduction (p < 0.001) at one day after stenting.The intima-media thickness was significantly lower in the Pre-CAS group than the Post-CAS group both at six months and 12 months after stenting. CONCLUSIONS: Pre-stenting clopidogrel loading dose leaded to short-time modification of endothelial progenitor cells and platelets and to long-term a minor neointimal hyperplasia.

Construção de identidade religiosa em contexto migratório: o caso da migração para o DF - Brasil / The construction of the religious identity in the migratory context: the case of the migration to DF/Brazil

O artigo analisa o nexo entre deslocamento geográfico e transformações na identidade religiosa do migrante. Levando em conta todo tipo de mudança identitária - tanto em termos de filiação religiosa, quanto em termos de paradigma de pertencimento no interior da própria tradição - o autor, após uma fundamentação teórica, apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa realizada no Distrito Federal pelo Centro Scalabriniano de Estudos Migratórios/CSEM, focando a reflexão sobre as principais mudanças na identidade religiosa dos migrantes entrevistados e sua relação com a jornada migratória.(AU)

The article analyses the connection between geographic displacement and the migrants' religious identity transformations. Regarding all kinds of identity transformation - since religious affiliation to belonging paradigms in the own tradition - the author, after a theoretical recital, presents the results of a research in the Federal District, made by the Centro Scalabriniano de Estudos Migratórios, focusing on the reflection about the main changes in the religious identity of the interviewed migrants and their relation to the migratory journey.(AU)

Neste artigo pretende-se analisar o trabalho em rede desenvolvido por grupos organizados de brasileiros(as) no exterior que atuam pela defesa e promoção dos direitos humanos. A partir dos resultados de uma pesquisa com 42 organizações presentes em seis diferentes países, busca-se examinar os tipos de serviços oferecidos, bem como a capacidade das entidades de articular redes associativas em vista da consecução de seus objetivos. Diante das dificuldades em estabelecer formas de redes e cooperação, sustenta-se que a metáfora do 'arquipélago' possa identificar melhor os tipos de relacionamentos existentes entre grupos organizados de brasileiros(as) no exterior(AU)

This article aims to discuss about the networks project developed by Brazilian groups abroad that act for the human rights' defense and promotion. Based on the survey results held at 42 organizations placed in 6 different countries, it is enquired the existing types of services, as well as the entities' capability of articulating associative networks, on the strength of its goals' achievement. In the presence of the difficulties to establish kinds of networks and cooperation, the opinion that the metaphor 'archipelago' better identifies the kinds of relationships among Brazilian groups abroad is held up(AU)

O protagonismo dos brasileiros e brasileiras no exterior e seu papel na defesa e promoção dos próprios direitos / The prominence of Brazilians abroad and their role in protecting and promoting their own rights. Results of a research done with organizations and liderships of Brazilians abroad

O artigo é o resultado de uma pesquisa realizada pelo Centro Scalabriniano de Estudos Migratórios - CSEM, junto a grupos organizados de brasileiros e brasileiras residentes no exterior, em vista a avaliar a atuação destes em prol da defesa e da promoção dos direitos humanos. Após uma breve panorâmica sobre a emigração brasileira e uma sucinta análise de dados estatísticos consulares, o texto apresenta o perfil dos grupos organizados pesquisados. Apesar da precariedade dos recursos financeiros disponíveis, da mobilidade e escassez de capital humano e dos limitados apoios governamentais, em geral, essas organizações buscam caminhos de cidadania, desenvolvendo atividades de formação, advocacy e alguns serviços assistenciais, além de ações de resgate da cultura brasileira e de integração no país de chegada.(AU)

The following article is the result of a research accomplished by the Centro Scalabriniano de Estudos Migratórios - CSEM, along with organized groups of Brazlians living abroad, in order to evaluate their actions in favor of the Human Rights' protection and promotion. After a brief panorama about the Brazilian emigration and a concise analysis of statistic Consular data, the article presents the profile of the organized groups analyzed. Despite the precarious financial resources available, the mobility and lack of humancapital and the limited governmental support; in general, those organizations seek for ways to citizenship, developing educational activities, advocacy and some aid services, in addition to actions aiming to uphold the Brazilian culture and the integration to the arrival country.(AU)

Feminization of migration?

O artigo analisa o conceito de feminização das migrações visando explicitar seu significado no contexto das migrações internacionais contemporâneas. Consoante o autor, a feminização pode ser interpretada como aumento numérico das mulheres migrantes, como mudança dos critérios analíticos do fenômeno migratório mediante a inclusão do enfoque de gênero e/ou como transformação do perfil da mulher migrante. Na parte final, avalia-se até que ponto os deslocamentos geográficos contemporâneos podem representar um real espaço de empoderamento e libertação das mulheres.(AU)

Religião, alteridade e migrações: a estrangeiridade como caminho de encontro

O artigo trata das mudanças identitárias inerentes ao ato migratório e suas repercussões para a religiosidade do migrante. Levando mão da análise de Peter Berger, o autor mostra como todo ato migratório envolve uma crise identitária que, por vezes, pode levar a modificações da filiação religiosa ou do paradigma religioso dos atores envolvidos. Após mostrar os limites das tentativas de excluir ou eliminar o diferente, o artigo expõe uma visão da religião, a partir da tradição judaico-cristã, baseada na idéia de estrangeiridade e na exigência de uma constante abertura ao encontro dialético com a alteridade divina e humana.(AU)
