La saturación arterial de oxígeno es un parámetro recientementeincluido en los hospitales, pero es tal su importanciaen el diagnóstico y pronóstico de los pacientes que se haconvertido en algo básico en la actividad hospitalaria diaria,siendo considerado actualmente el quinto signo vital.Por todo esto, es importante tener acceso a una adecuadatecnología de pulsioximetría, ya que si el tratamiento ypor tanto, la morbimortalidad del paciente van a dependeren gran medida de este parámetro, no podemos basarnosen valores erróneos o poco fiables (AU)
