RESUMO

Laparoscopic splenectomy is a gold standard for management of planned benign splenic pathologies. Spontaneous rupture of the spleen (SRS) leading to acute abdomen occurs in only 1% of all splenic ruptures. Laparoscopic splenectomy in traumatic and atraumatic rupture due to intra-splenic pathology is reported. We present the first reported case of laparoscopic splenectomy in a 23-year-old male who presented with hemoperitoneum due to idiopathic or SRS. The procedure was safely accomplished with slight modified technique and minimum usage of advanced gadgets.

RESUMO

Tracheobronchial carcinoids are relatively uncommon neoplasms with malignant (though indolent) potential and variable behavior. Clinical presentation is usually similar to any obstructive tracheobronchial lesions or rarely with presentation of carcinoid syndrome. Management varies from Pneumonectomy to use of lung sparing bronchoscoplastic techniques. We report the case of a 32-year-old male patient diagnosed with carcinoid of left main bronchus. Patient was successfully treated with trans-bronchoscopic diode laser. At 24 months of follow up patient remains asymptomatic and recurrence-free.

RESUMO

Rudimentary gallbladder is a rare congenital anomaly. We present a case of an 18-year-old boy who was referred to us for surgical management of choledochal cyst. Clinical assessment and correlation of various investigations raised the possibility of rudimentary gallbladder rather than choledochal cyst. Laparoscopy evaluation confirmed the same and simple removal of the hypoplastic gallbladder cured him of his symptoms. Awareness of rare anomalies of the gallbladder and correlation of various imaging modalities aids in accurate diagnosis, thus avoiding major exploration.
