[Indications and results apropos of 290 endonasal ethmoidectomies]. / Indications et résultats à propos de 290 ethmoïdectomies endonasales.

An intranasal ethmoidectomy prospective study was carried out from 1985 to 1991 on 152 patients and 290 ethmoidectomies. This surgery is intended for patients who have been treated often for nasal polyps, chronic ethmoiditis and recurrent sinus barotrauma. A discrepancy was observed between patients satisfaction (82%) and clinical symptoms, given that results remain good in 75% of the cases three years afterwards but only in 60 cases after five years. There is a recurrence of nasal polyps in 36% of the cases.

[Contribution of the combination of radiation and surgery in the treatment of invasive pharyngo-laryngeal carcinoma]. / L'apport de l'association radio-chirurgicale dans le traitement des carcinomes pharyngo-laryngés infiltrants.

On the basis of the retrospective analysis of 269 cases of pharyngo-laryngeal carcinoma, the authors recall that the degree of tumour invasion is one of the essential prognostic factors for this disease. The macroscopic appearance of the tumour should therefore play a determinant role in the choice of treatment, as invasive lesions are generally responsive to radiotherapy.

A contribution to the study of the facial artery, its branches and anastomoses; application to the anatomic vascular bases of facial flaps.

The authors present the results of dissection of 40 facial arteries and their collaterals. The study of the collaterals is specifically for the cervical portion of this artery and especially for the three segments of its facial portion. The artery and its collaterals are extremely variable as regards its mode of termination. 4 types of artery are presented: labial, angular, nasal and abortive. The global description of the vascularization of the face and the principal anastomoses leads on to a study of the facial flaps and the plastic surgery of the face.
