RESUMO

The problem of cerebrovascular diseases prevention is currently urgent not only in neurology, but in the community as a whole, because of the leading rates of vascular diseases in population disability and mortality. Hypercholesterolemia is one of the corrected risk factors for the development of the given diseases. The results of the study of 109 patients with CBI, II-III stages, treated with the drug liprimar and a new physiotherapeutic device, the neutralizer of free radicals, for cholesterol level optimization are presented.

RESUMO

In order to make clear the role of zinc (Zn) ions in the pathogenesis of trigeminal neuralgia (TN) the investigations of rats with the compression model of TN as well as on false operated animals were carried out. In 1.5 months after the intraorbital nerve compression the increase of Zn concentration in caudal trigeminal nucleus and (to a less degree) in hippocampus as well as behavioural and pathophysiological pain correlates were revealed. The exogenous Zn introduction led to an increase of its level in these structures simultaneously with the exacerbation of all sings of the TN syndrome. The addition of chelating agents Xydiphone which bound bivalent cations in soft tissues, into drinking water, normalized the Zn content in rats brain and reduced the pathological symptoms. The use of Xydiphone in the complex therapy of 25 patients with the TN tolerant to carbamazepine reduced the pain syndrome in 15 cases. Thus the local changes of Zn level in the CNS may play a certain role in the manifestation of the TN pain syndrome.

RESUMO

To remove painful attacks in patients with the vertebral artery syndrome, use was made of xidiphon. The two methods of its administration were developed: application and electrophoretic. 27 patients in the stage of the disease exacerbation were examined and then treated. Vertebrobasilar vessels were examined over time by REG. A study was made of the content of macroelements and trace elements in the area of the impaired vessel, of the status of the bulbar conjunctival vessels using a "ShchL-2" lamp, and of the changes in the psychovolitional sphere and lipid peroxidation. A positive analgesic effect was attained in 25 patients, making it possible to eliminate or diminish to a considerable measure the doses of analgesics.

RESUMO

As many as 98 patients suffering from trigeminal neuralgia were given myeglynol (glycine) in a dose of 110 mg/kg a day for 4-5 weeks. A noticeable effect manifesting in the counteracting painful paroxysms was attained in more than 86% of cases. The drug was administered alone at the disease onset. The treatment effect of myeglynol may be related to its capacity to decrease to normal the high concentration of formaldehyde in the blood serum of patients suffering from trigeminal neuralgia.

RESUMO

As many as 12 patients with the trigeminal algic status, the most severe manifestation of a trigeminal neuralgia exacerbation, were examined. Along with the grave painful syndrome, the patients demonstrated marked vegetovascular disorders, macro- and microcirculatory abnormalities, and hemostatic disorders (the DIC syndrome). For intensive therapy of the condition the authors recommend the use of carbamazepine derivatives, GABA-containing drugs, neuroleptics, antihistamine agents, drugs that improve microcirculation, followed by transcutaneous electric stimulation, allowing the removal of the painful syndrome.

RESUMO

Fifty-two patients with trigeminal neuralgia were treated by electrophoresis with a 2% solution of ksidifon. 23 patients demonstrated a remarkable analgetic effect in the form of disappearance of painful paroxysms and activity of the trigger zones, which enabled a considerable reduction of the daily dose of carbamazepine (finlepsin). In 14 patients, the rate and severity of algic attacks noticeably decreased without the lowering of the finlepsin dosage. Therefore, the suggested method of the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia, being simple in use, effectively removes the painful syndrome, contributing to a noticeable reduction of the doses of the toxic drugs of the carbamazepine type.

RESUMO

One hundred and twenty-eight patients with various forms of facial pain responded well to a multiple modality treatment. The treatment was based on transcutaneous electrostimulation with the help of the neurostimulant devices "Neuron-01" and "Neuron-02".

RESUMO

An examination of patients with trigeminal neuralgia and facial pains of the cervical genesis (in cervical osteochondrosis, bone anomalies of the same localization, the syndrome of musculus scalenus anterior) revealed hemostatic impairments. These changes were generalized in trigeminal neuralgia and regional in the second group of patients, being particularly overt during a pain attack. The data obtained must be taken into account in evaluating the pathogenesis and in administering multiple modality therapy.

RESUMO

The paper is concerned with the results of a clinical electrophysiological, biochemical, histochemical, X-ray and morphological study of 289 patients with different vegetovascular and trophical disturbances, mainly of a regional character, in the facial area. Some clinical aspects and questions of the pathogenesis of these disturbances are discussed which are not sufficiently reflected in the literature. It is suggested that the form of the pterygopalatine ganglion is related to the incidence of the pathological process and the traits of vegetative and pain phenomena, accompanying the Sluder syndrome. Vegetovascular changes were revealed in the skin of the face and enzymatic changes in mucous membrane of the nose on the homolateral to the paresis side of the face in lesions of the facial nerve. Specific vegetative trophical changes were also found in a progressive hemiatrophy of the face, Barrakera-Simons disease, in the syndrome of facial hemistrophy due to lesions of the different vegetative and somatic structures of the nervous system.

RESUMO

The paper deals with trophic disorders of the buccal mucosa in 30 patients with Bell's paralysis. The character of the found changes was judged by the results of an examination of the mucosa and chemical and histochemical studies of the bioptate, obtained by aspirational biopsy. The examinations demonstrated trophical disorders in the buccal mucosa which was testified to by a slight edema and enzymatic-metabolic disorders in the form of an increased activity of the acid and alkaline phosphotase as well as asparagine and alanine aminotranspherase. These changes to a certain extent confirm the existence of vegetative filaments in the facial nerve, an affection of which leads to metabolic-trophical changes. Such data should be taken into consideration in an attempt to explain the mechanisms of distrophical processes and may be utilized as some indices in the judgment of the dynamics in the process of treatment.
