RESUMO

The research delved into the occurrence and dynamics of dissolved metals, specifically manganese (Mn) and copper (Cu), within the Jiulong River Estuary, South China, a medium-sized subtropical estuary. Our findings unveiled a nuanced seasonal and spatial variability of dissolved metals throughout the entire estuarine system. Notably, dissolved Mn concentrations peaked (~ 3.5 µM) in the upper estuary, diminishing sharply along the salinity gradient, with a modest rise in the middle estuary and outer Xiamen Bay. In the upper estuary, heightened concentrations of dissolved Mn occurred in spring due to augmented terrestrial particle inputs, followed by suboxically reductive releases; conversely, concentrations were low in summer, attributed to dilution from increased freshwater discharges and particle scavenging. In contrast, dissolved Cu exhibited differently, with elevated concentrations (29.2-37.5 nM) in the upper and middle estuaries, driven by reductive dissolution of Mn particles and chloride-induced ion exchanges, respectively. Concurrently, heightened inputs of nutrients and metals correlated with elevated phytoplankton productivity (indicated by chlorophyll a) in the upper and outer estuary regions. Our analysis underscored the sensitivity of dissolved metals to environmental parameters, including temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen. The integration of compiled historical data underscored the dynamic nature of dissolved metals, particularly Cu, in response to geochemical processes. The elevated ion levels indicated intensified ion releases from particles and sediments, attributable to increased anthropogenic perturbation and climatic changes (e. g. ocean warming).

RESUMO

Background: High-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a key element in the rescue of cardiac arrest patients but is difficult to achieve in circumstances involving aerosol transmission, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This prospective randomized crossover trial included 30 experienced health care providers to evaluate the impact of personal protective equipment (PPE) on CPR quality and rescuer safety. Participants were asked to perform continuous CPR for 5 minutes on a manikin with three types of PPE: level D-PPE, level C-PPE, and PAPR. The primary outcome was effective chest compression per minute. Secondary outcomes were the fit factor by PortaCount, vital signs and fatigue scores before and after CPR, and perceptions related to wearing PPE. Repeated-measures ANOVA was used, and a two-tailed test value of 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The rates of effective chest compressions for 5 minutes with level D-PPE, level C-PPE, and PAPRs were 82.0 ± 0.2%, 78.4 ± 0.2%, and 78.0 ± 0.2%, respectively (p = 0.584). The fit-factor test values of level C-PPE and PAPRs were 182.9 ± 39.9 vs. 198.9 ± 9.2 (p < 0.001). The differences in vital signs before and after CPR were not significantly different among the groups. In addition, the fatigue and total perception scores of wearing PPE were significantly higher for level C-PPE than PAPRs: 3.8 ± 1.6 vs. 3.0 ± 1.6 (p < 0.001) and 27.9 ± 5.4 vs. 26.0 ± 5.3 (p < 0.001), respectively. Conclusion: PAPRs are recommended when performing CPR in situations where aerosol transmission is suspected. When PAPRs are in short supply, individual fit-tested N95 masks are an alternative. This trial is registered with NCT04802109.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The surgical approach and prognosis for invasive adenocarcinoma (IAC) and minimally invasive adenocarcinoma (MIA) of the lung differ. However, they both manifest as identical ground-glass nodules (GGNs) in computed tomography images, and no effective method exists to discriminate them. METHODS: We developed and validated a three-dimensional (3D) deep transfer learning model to discriminate IAC from MIA based on CT images of GGNs. This model uses a 3D medical image pre-training model (MedicalNet) and a fusion model to build a classification network. Transfer learning was utilized for end-to-end predictive modeling of the cohort data of the first center, and the cohort data of the other two centers were used as independent external validation data. This study included 999 lung GGN images of 921 patients pathologically diagnosed with IAC or MIA at three cohort centers. RESULTS: The predictive performance of the model was assessed using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC). The model had high diagnostic efficacy for the training and validation groups (accuracy: 89%, sensitivity: 95%, specificity: 84%, and AUC: 95% in the training group; accuracy: 88%, sensitivity: 84%, specificity: 93%, and AUC: 92% in the internal validation group; accuracy: 83%, sensitivity: 83%, specificity: 83%, and AUC: 89% in one external validation group; accuracy: 78%, sensitivity: 80%, specificity: 77%, and AUC: 82% in the other external validation group). CONCLUSIONS: Our 3D deep transfer learning model provides a noninvasive, low-cost, rapid, and reproducible method for preoperative prediction of IAC and MIA in lung cancer patients with GGNs. It can help clinicians to choose the optimal surgical strategy and improve the prognosis of patients.

RESUMO

Mutual transformations of rhizospheric arsenic (As) in pollution-prone mangrove sediments affected by root exudate oxalate were simulated. This study focuses on the effect of oxalate on As release, mobilization, and phase speciation associated with P and Fe was examined under anoxic conditions in time-dependent changes. Results showed that oxalate addition significantly facilitated As-Fe-P release from As-contaminated mangrove sediments. Sediment As formed the adsorptive and the carbonate-binding fractionations, facilitating the re-adsorption processes. Solution As and As5+ correlated with NaOH-P positively but with NaHCO3-P and HCl-P negatively. Dominant Fe3+ (>84 %) from the amorphous Fe regulated suspension changes and then time-dependent co-precipitation with As and P. Sediment P formed strong complexes with Fe oxides and could be substituted for As via STEM analysis. Oxalate ligand exchange, competitive adsorption of oxalate, and Fe-reduced dissolution are confirmed to involve, allowing for an insight As/P/Fe mobilization and fate in mangrove wetland.

RESUMO

In thoracic surgery, the double lumen endotracheal tube (DLT) is used for differential ventilation of the lung. DLT allows lung collapse on the surgical side that requires access to the thoracic and mediastinal areas. DLT placement for a given patient depends on two settings: a tube of the correct size (or 'size') and to the correct insertion depth (or 'depth'). Incorrect DLT placements cause oxygen desaturation or carbon dioxide retention in the patient, with possible surgical failure. No guideline on these settings is currently available for anesthesiologists, except for the aid by bronchoscopy. In this study, we aimed to predict DLT 'depths' and 'sizes' applied earlier on a group of patients (n = 231) using a computer modeling approach. First, for these patients we retrospectively determined the correlation coefficient (r) of each of the 17 body parameters against 'depth' and 'size'. Those parameters having r > 0.5 and that could be easily obtained or measured were selected. They were, for both DLT settings: (a) sex, (b) height, (c) tracheal diameter (measured from X-ray), and (d) weight. For 'size', a fifth parameter, (e) chest circumference was added. Based on these four or five parameters, we modeled the clinical DLT settings using a Support Vector Machine (SVM). After excluding statistical outliers (±2 SD), 83.5% of the subjects were left for 'depth' in the modeling, and similarly 85.3% for 'size'. SVM predicted 'depths' matched with their clinical values at a r of 0.91, and for 'sizes', at an r of 0.82. The less satisfactory result on 'size' prediction was likely due to the small target choices (n = 4) and the uneven data distribution. Furthermore, SVM outperformed other common models, such as linear regression. In conclusion, this first model for predicting the two DLT key settings gave satisfactory results. Findings would help anesthesiologists in applying DLT procedures more confidently in an evidence-based way.

RESUMO

Causes of mortality in EC patients are not confined to cancer-specific mortality but include various protein expressions of SOX2 and mTOR in Esophageal Cancer patients and their correlation with the clinical stage. Data about the risk factors and involvement of cancer-specific protein are still lacking. This study aimed to define the risk factors and association of SOX2 and mTOR expression in mortality in patients with EC. We conducted a retrospective cohort study to assess the risk factors for cancer-specific mortality and cardiovascular mortality in patients with esophageal cancer (EC). The expression rates of SOX2, as well as MTO, were checked in patients. The multivariate analysis revealed a high-risk EC mortality with age ≥ 65 years, black race, grade, stage, and sequence of treatment; radiation after surgery; radiation before and after surgery; Surgery both before and after radiation. While the cardiovascular mortality increased with age ≥ 65 years, adenocarcinoma type, grade, stage, and sequence of treatment. The expression rates of SOX2, as well as mTOR, were 75.5 percent and 86.8 percent in Esophageal Cancer, while were 10.7 percent and 7.5 percent in osteochondroma, respectively, which was statistically significant (P<0.05). Risk factors for cancer-specific mortality and cardiovascular mortality in EC patients include older age at diagnosis, male sex, non-married status, grade III of the tumor, the regional or distant spread of the tumor, no cancer-directed therapy. The expression levels of SOX2, mTOR, and the total survival time were related to the different stages. It shows an upward trend for the expression levels of mTOR and SOX2 in Esophageal Cancer tissues. The expression levels of SOX2 and mTOR are related to the clinical stage, metastasis, and prognosis.

RESUMO

Purpose: To establish and verify the ability of a radiomics prediction model to distinguish invasive adenocarcinoma (IAC) and minimal invasive adenocarcinoma (MIA) presenting as ground-glass nodules (GGNs). Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 118 lung GGN images and clinical data from 106 patients in our hospital from March 2016 to April 2019. All pathological classifications of lung GGN were confirmed as IAC or MIA by two pathologists. R language software (version 3.5.1) was used for the statistical analysis of the general clinical data. ITK-SNAP (version 3.6) and A.K. software (Analysis Kit, American GE Company) were used to manually outline the regions of interest of lung GGNs and collect three-dimensional radiomics features. Patients were randomly divided into training and verification groups (ratio, 7:3). Random forest combined with hyperparameter tuning was used for feature selection and prediction modeling. The receiver operating characteristic curve and the area under the curve (AUC) were used to evaluate model prediction efficacy. The calibration curve was used to evaluate the calibration effect. Results: There was no significant difference between IAC and MIA in terms of age, gender, smoking history, tumor history, and lung GGN location in both the training and verification groups (P>0.05). For each lung GGN, the collected data included 396 three-dimensional radiomics features in six categories. Based on the training cohort, nine optimal radiomics features in three categories were finally screened out, and a prediction model was established. We found that the training group had a high diagnostic efficacy [accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and AUC of the training group were 0.89 (95%CI, 0.73 - 0.99), 0.98 (95%CI, 0.78 - 1.00), 0.81 (95%CI, 0.59 - 1.00), and 0.97 (95%CI, 0.92-1.00), respectively; those of the validation group were 0.80 (95%CI, 0.58 - 0.93), 0.82 (95%CI, 0.55 - 1.00), 0.78 (95%CI, 0.57 - 1.00), and 0.92 (95%CI, 0.83 - 1.00), respectively]. The model calibration curve showed good consistency between the predicted and actual probabilities. Conclusions: The radiomics prediction model established by combining random forest with hyperparameter tuning effectively distinguished IAC from MIA presenting as GGNs and represents a noninvasive, low-cost, rapid, and reproducible preoperative prediction method for clinical application.

RESUMO

CONTEXT: Momordica charantia L. (Cucurbitaceae), known as bitter melon, is an edible fruit cultivated in the tropics. In this study, an active compound, 5ß,19-epoxycucurbita-6,23(E)-diene-3ß,19(R),25-triol (ECDT), isolated from M. charantia was investigated in regard to its cytotoxic effect on human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. OBJECTIVE: To examine the mechanisms of ECDT-induced apoptosis in HCC cells. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The inhibitive activity of ECDT on HA22T HCC cells was examined by MTT assay, colony formation assay, wound healing assay, TUNEL/DAPI staining, annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate/propidium iodide (PI) staining and JC-1 dye. HA22T cells were treated with ECDT (5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 µM) for 24 h, and the molecular mechanism of cells apoptosis was examined by Western blot. Cells treated with vehicle DMSO were used as the negative control. RESULTS: ECDT inhibited the cell proliferation of HA22T cells in a dose-dependent manner. Flow cytometry showed that ECDT treatment at 10-20 µM increased early apoptosis by 10-14% and late apoptosis by 2-5%. Western blot revealed that ECDT treatment activated the mitochondrial-dependent apoptotic pathway, and ECDT-induced apoptosis was mediated by the caspase signalling pathway and activation of JNK and p38MAPK. Pre-treatment of cells with MAPK inhibitors (SB203580 or SP600125) reversed the ECDT-induced cell death, which further supported the involvement of the p38MAPK and JNK pathways. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: Our results indicated that ECDT can induce apoptosis through the p38MAPK and JNK pathways in HA22T cells. The findings suggested that ECDT has a valuable anticancer property with the potential to be developed as a new chemotherapeutic agent for the treatment of HCC.

RESUMO

GRSP is widely distributed in coastal wetlands, and there is a tendency for it to degrade with increasing burial depth. However, the dynamic changes in the chemical composition and stability of GRSP during the burial process are still unclear. The purpose of this study is to clarify the chemical composition and accumulation characteristics of GRSP during the burial process in the Zhangjiang estuary. In a field study, soil cores to the depth of 100 cm were collected in the estuary from mangrove forests dominated by Kandelia obovata and Avicennia marina, and from mudflat. The results showed that the concentration of GRSP in mangrove forest soil was significantly higher than that in the mudflat (p < 0.05), and the C/N ratio of GRSP increased with depth at all sites. Analysis of Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) data showed that the degradation rates of the GRSP's compositions varied with increasing burial depth, with microbial action and pH possibly being the main factors affecting degradation. Values of recalcitrance index (RI) showed that the stability of GRSP increased with increasing depth, and the contribution of GRSP to soil organic carbon (SOC) also increased. This suggests that the burial process plays a role in screening and storing the stable components of GRSP. Overall, our findings suggest that the concentration and chemical composition of GRSP vary dynamically according to habitat and burial processes. In addition, the improved stability of GRSP could contribute to carbon sequestration in coastal wetlands.

RESUMO

Mangrove wetlands are subjected to pollution due to anthropogenic activities. Mangrove fitness is mainly determined by root exudates and microorganisms activities belowground, but the mechanisms are not yet well known. Rhizospheric interactions among mangrove sediments, microorganisms and root exudates were simulated. In particular, low-molecular-weight organic acids (LMWOA), were examined to explore the metal(loid)s rhizospheric dynamics via batch experiments. Using a combination of comparative sterilised and unsterilised sediments, LMWOA extracts and sediments constituents were examined. Factors such as the solution pH, dissolved organic carbon (DOC), arsenic and iron species and metal(loid)s in the aqueous phase were evaluated. The results show that on an average, the As decreased by 68.3 % and 42.1 % under citric and malic acid treatments, respectively, after sterilisation. In contrast, the As content increased by 29.6 % under oxalic acid treatment. Microorganisms probably facilitate sediment As release in the presence of citric and malic acids but suppress As mobilisation in the presence of oxalic acid. Fe, Mn and Al were significantly (p < 0.05) positively correlated with the trace metal(loid)s (Zn, Pb, Ni, Cu, Cr, Co, Ba, Cd and As). The solution pH was negatively correlated with the solution As. Both DOC and pH reach the peaks at the end of all treatments. The As absorption-desorption dynamics are closely linked to proton consumption, Fe-Mn-Al sedimentation of ageing performance and organic ligand complexation. The study provides an insight into the rhizospheric processes of microbial involvement and gives an enlightening understanding of the metal(loid)s redeployment for plant adaptation in mangrove wetlands.

RESUMO

@#Abstract: Objective To understand the distribution and drug resistance of common pathogens of fungal bloodstream infection in Sichuan, and to provide reference for clinicians to empirically treat fungal bloodstream infection. Methods From November 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020, fungal strains isolated from blood culture of patients diagnosed with bloodstream infection in 19 tertiary first-class general hospitals in Sichuan Province were collected for mass spectrometry identification and drug susceptibility, and the results were statistically analyzed, along with a retrospective analysis of clinical data. Results A total of 255 fungal strains were received and identified by mass spectrometry, 215 strains of Candida spp (84.3%), 28 strains of Cryptococcus neoformans (11.0%), 4 strains of Talaromyces marneffei (1.6%) and 8 strains of others (3.1%). Among the Candida spp 90 strains of Candida albicans, 39 strains of Candida parapsilosis complex, 36 strains of Candida glabrata, 33 strains of Candida tropicalis, 8 strains of Candida guilliermondii, and 9 strains of other Candida. In the department, the ICU was predominant, accounting for 35.7%. The top four Candida (Candida albicans, Candida parapsilosis complex, Candida glabrata, Candida tropicalis) were analyzed for drug sensitivity, Candida albicans and Candida parapsilosis complex group were more sensitive to antifungal drugs, the sensitivity rates of Candida albicans to fluconazole, voriconazole, anidulafungin, caspofungin, micarafungin were 89.2%, 92.8%, 97.6%, 97.6%, 96.4%, respectively. The sensitivity rates of Candida parapsilosis to fluconazole and voriconazole were 89.7% and 94.9%, and to anidulafungin, caspofungin and micafungin were all 100%. Echinocandins had stronger antibacterial activity against Candida spp., Candida parapsilosis complex and Candida tropicalis had 100% sensitivity to echinocandins, Candida albicans had more than 95% sensitivity to echinocandins, and Candida glabrata had about 90% sensitivity to echinocandins. Candida tropicalis was less sensitive to fluconazole and voriconazole with 66.7% and 54.5%, and the sensitivity of Candida glabrata to fluconazole was mainly concentrated in susceptible dose dependent (SDD), accounting for 91.4%. The four Candida species did not show resistance to amphotericin B, all of them showed wild-type strains, Candida tropicalis showed the highest non-wild-type rate to posaconazole and itraconazole with 21.2% and 36.4%, and the drug sensitivity results of Cryptococcus neoformans showed that 4 out of 23 strains showed resistance to amphotericin B (non-wild-type) and 3 strains showed resistance to fluconazole (non-wild-type). Conclusions The fungus of bloodstream infection is mainly Candida spp.. Among of them, Candida albicans accounts for the highest percentage, echinocandins have good antibacterial effect on Candida, Candida is sensitive to amphotericin B as wild type, but Candida tropicalis has slightly higher resistance rate to fluconazole and voriconazole, and the non-wild type rate of Cryptococcus neoformans to amphotericin B is increasing, and clinicians should pay high attention to the rational use of antifungal drugs.

RESUMO

Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is an inflammatory disorder that is characterized by chronic activation of the hepatic inflammatory response and subsequent liver damage. The regulation of macrophage polarization in liver is closely related to the progression of NASH. The orphan nuclear receptor retinoic-acid-related orphan receptor α (RORα) and Krüppel-like factor 4 (KLF4) are key regulators which promote hepatic macrophages toward M2 phenotype and protect against NASH in mice. Nobiletin (NOB), a natural polymethoxylated flavone, is previously reported as a RORα regulator in diet-induced obese mice. However, it is still unclear whether NOB has the protective effect on NASH. In this study, we investigated the role of NOB in NASH using a methionine and choline deficient (MCD)-induced NASH mouse model. Our results showed that NOB ameliorated hepatic damage and fibrosis in MCD fed mice. NOB treatment reduced the infiltration of macrophages and neutrophils in the liver in MCD-fed mice. Of importance, NOB significantly increased the proportion of M2 macrophages and the expression of anti-inflammatory factors in vivo and in vitro. Meanwhile, NOB also decreased the population of M1 macrophages and the expression of proinflammatory cytokines. Mechanistically, NOB elevated KLF4 expression in macrophages. Inhibition of KLF4 abolished NOB regulated macrophage polarization. Furthermore, the regulation of NOB in KLF4 expression was dependent on RORα.

RESUMO

Two cembranoids, including a new compound, lobocrassin I (1), as well as a known analogue, lobohedleolide (2), were obtained by solvent extraction from octocoral Lobophytum crassum. This study employed a spectroscopic approach to establish the structures of these two cembranoids, and utilized single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis to determine their absolute configurations. The results of biological activity assays demonstrated that cembranoid 2 exhibited bioactivity against the protein expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated RAW 264.7 mouse macrophage cells.

RESUMO

To study the effect and mechanism of extract of Quzhou Aurantii Fructus(QAF) on liver inflammation in CCl_4-induced liver fibrosis mice. Totally 60 C57 BL/6 male mice were randomly divided into control group(distilled water, oral), model group(distilled water, oral), colchicines group(Col, colchicines 2 mg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1), oral), low-dose QAF group(QAF-L, QAF 100 mg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1), oral) and high-dose QAF group(QAF-H, QAF 300 mg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1), oral) by random number table method. The model group and each administration group were injected with carbon tetrachloride(CCl_4) 1 mL·kg~(-1)(CCl_4-olive oil 1∶4), twice a week, totally 6 weeks. After the last administration, the mice were sacrificed, and serum and liver tissue were collected. Serum ALT and AST levels were measured in each group to observe the liver function of mice. The pathological changes and inflammatory cell infiltration in liver were observed by HE staining and F4/80 immunohistochemical staining. The mRNA expressions of TNF-α, IL-18 and IL-1ß were detected by RT-PCR. The protein expressions of IκBα, p-IKKα/ß, p-p65, NLRP3, caspase-1 and cleaved caspase-1 were analyzed by Western blot. The results showed that QAF significantly reduced serum ALT and AST levels, and alleviated the degree of liver damage. The results of immunohistochemistry showed that QAF significantly reduced liver inflammatory cell infiltration in liver fibrosis mice. The results of RT-PCR and Western blot showed that QAF significantly inhibited mRNA expressions of TNF-α, IL-18 and IL-1ß in liver of fibrosis mice. QAF also suppressed the degradation of IκBα protein and reduced p-IKKα/ß, p-p65, NLRP3 and cleaved caspase-1 protein expressions. In conclusion, QAF improves CCl_4-induced liver fibrosis in mice. The mechanism may be related to the inhibition of NF-κB/NLRP3 inflammasome-mediated inflammation signaling pathway.

RESUMO

Arsenic (As) contamination in mangrove wetlands has become a major concern. However, the impact of As on mangroves and the rhizospheric mechanism remains unclarified. In this study, various properties and responses of mangrove seedlings were investigated after exposure to arsenite (As3+). The results indicate that low-level As promoted the secretion of Low-molecular-weight organic acids (LMWOA, 4.5-6.59 mg/kg root in dry weight) and Fe plaque formation in their rhizospheres. Citric, oxalic, and malic acid were the three main components (84.3%-86.8%). Low-level As (5 and 10 µmol/L) also inhibited the rate of radial oxygen loss (ROL) but increased the accumulation of plant As (stem > leaf > root) and plaque As (0.23-1.13 mg/kg root in dry weight). We selected model LMWOAs to further examine As migration and speciation over time in As-enriched sediments (0, 20 and 40 mg/kg). The results reveal that LMWOAs promoted sediment As mobilisation and followed the order of citric acid > malic acid > oxalic acid. The hydrolysis and precipitation of Fe3+ and the complexation with organic ligand led to aqueous As and Fe sedimentation and, conversely, increased solution pH and re-translocated free As. The tolerance mechanisms include lowering ROL, translocating As and releasing LMWOAs to reduce its toxicity, and facilitating the fixation in sediment of oxidised As. The present study highlights the fact that mangroves are potentially favourable for As phytoextraction, removal and detoxification.

RESUMO

Objective: To evaluate the association between radiation exposure from repeated nuclear medicine (NM) examinations and the subsequent risk of neoplasm in pediatric patients. Methods: From 2000 to 2017, participants under 18 years of age who underwent NM scanning were identified using the Health and Welfare Data Science Center (HWDC) dataset, which was extracted from the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD). Both the exposed cohort and unexposed subjects were followed up with until the presence of any malignancy arose, including malignant brain, lymphoid and hematopoietic tumors and benign brain or other central nervous tumors. Results: There were 35,292 patients in the exposed cohort and 141,152 matched subjects in the non-exposed group. The exposed cohort had an overall higher IR (IR: incidence rate, per 100,000 person-years) of any malignancy and benign central nervous tumor than the non-exposed group [IR, 16.9 vs. 1.54; adjusted hazard ratio (HR), 10.9; 95% CI, 6.53-18.2]. Further stratifying the number of NM examinations into 1-2, 3-4, and 5 or more times revealed that the IR of pediatric neoplasms increased gradually with the increased frequency of NM examinations (IR, 11.5; adjusted HR, 7.5; 95% CI, 4.29-13.1; IR, 25.8; adjusted HR, 15.9; 95% CI, 7.00-36.1; IR, 93.8; adjusted HR, 56.4; 95% CI, 28.8-110.3). Conclusion: NM examination is significantly associated with a higher risk of pediatric neoplasms, according to our population-based data. Thorough radiation protection and dose reduction in pediatric NM procedures should be an issue of concern.

The mRNA expressions of TNF-α, IL-18 and IL-1β were detected by RT-PCR. The protein expressions of IκBα, p-IKKα/β, p-p65, NLRP3, caspase-1 and cleaved caspase-1 were analyzed by Western blot. The results showed that QAF significantly reduced serum ALT and AST levels, and alleviated the degree of liver damage. The results of immunohistochemistry showed that QAF significantly reduced liver inflammatory cell infiltration in liver fibrosis mice. The results of RT-PCR and Western blot showed that QAF significantly inhibited mRNA expressions of TNF-α, IL-18 and IL-1β in liver of fibrosis mice. QAF also suppressed the degradation of IκBα protein and reduced p-IKKα/β, p-p65, NLRP3 and cleaved caspase-1 protein expressions. In conclusion, QAF improves CCl_4-induced liver fibrosis in mice. The mechanism may be related to the inhibition of NF-κB/NLRP3 inflammasome-mediated inflammation signaling pathway.

RESUMO

The theory of "tian-yin-yang" of Zhuang medicine was explored and the academic achievements and experience of professor HUANG Jin-ming were summarized to explain the theory and clinical characteristics of tian-yin-yang acupuncture, an acupuncture school of Huang 's Zhuang medicine of Guangxi. This acupuncture method is guided by the theory of "three-qi synchronization" and "tian-yin-yang" of Zhuang medicine, based on the theory of "three channels and two paths", with regulating qi as the method and regulating spirit as the basis. After the patient is calmed and resting, the micro needle shallow needling technique is adopted, mainly at the umbilical ring point, so as to achieve the purpose of regulating the mind and treating the root cause.

RESUMO

Batch experiments were conducted to study the migration behavior of arsenic (As) and iron (bivalent, trivalent, and total Fe) of the presence of the low molecular weight organic acids (LMWOAs) citric acid, malic acid, and oxalic acid in As-enriched mangrove sediments. The results for supernatant As/Fe species were significant according to each LMWOA treatment. Significant non-linear correlations were found among As level, pH, and acid dose based on our predictive model. The capacity of LMWOAs to mobilize As/Fe species followed the order of citric acid > malic acid/oxalic acid. The supernatant As correlated positively with the LMWOAs dose and negatively correlated with the pH. As migration was affected by acid strength, the number of carboxyl groups, the pH and levels of Fe compounds in the sediments. The results indicate that LMWOAs can potentially attenuate As contamination from mangrove sediment, allowing for a better understanding of As/Fe behavior in the rhizosphere.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate and compare the surgical outcomes and complications of the modified circumcision using disposable circumcision suture device (device group) and the conventional dorsal slit circumcision (conventional group) in children. METHODS: A total of 284 patients were randomized to either device group or conventional group. All patients were preoperatively assessed and evaluated at 4 weeks after surgery. The perioperative data and postoperative outcomes were compared between the 2 groups. RESULTS: No statistical differences were observed in the average age and indications between the 2 groups preoperatively (P > .05). Compared with the conventional group, patients in the device group were shorter mean operative time, less blood loss, lower intraoperative and postoperative pain score, faster incision healing time and a higher satisfaction rate of penile cosmetic appearance (P < .01). Similarly, the incidences of complication were significantly lower in the device group than in the conventional group (4.3% vs 12.3%, P < .05). CONCLUSIONS: The modified circumcision using disposable circumcision suture device is a simple, safe, faster, and effective procedure and may become the attractive alternative to the conventional technique for the children, with a relatively lower complication rate and better cosmetic results. With the improvement of disposable circumcision suture device, the modified circumcision using disposable circumcision suture device has the potential to be widely used in the world.
