RESUMO

Background: With the increasing popularity of the internet, a growing number of patients and their companions are actively seeking health-related information online. Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the quality and readability of online information about Alzheimer's disease (AD) in China. Methods: A total of 263 qualified AD-related web pages from different businesses, governments, and hospitals were obtained. The quality of the web pages was assessed using the DISCERN tool, and the readability of the web pages was assessed using a readability measurement website suitable for the Chinese language. The differences in readability and quality between different types of web pages were investigated, and the correlation between quality and readability was analyzed. Results: The mean overall DISCERN score was 40.93±7.5. The government group scored significantly higher than the commercial and hospital groups. The mean readability score was 12.74±1.27, and the commercial group had the lowest readability score. There was a positive correlation between DISCERN scores and readability scores. Conclusions: This study presents an evaluation of the quality and readability of health information pertaining to AD in China. The findings indicate that there is a need to enhance the quality and readability of web pages about AD in China. Recommendations for improvement are proposed in light of these findings.

RESUMO

With mixed transition-metal-complex, alkali-metal, or organic cations as structure-directing agents, a series of novel two-dimensional (2D) layered inorganic-organic hybrid iodoargentates, namely, Kx[TM(2,2-bipy)3]2Ag6I11 (TM = Mn (1), Fe (2), Co (3), Ni (4), Zn (5); x = 0.89-1) and [(Ni(2,2-bipy)3][H-2,2-bipy]Ag3I6 (6), have been solvothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. All the title compounds feature 2D microporous layers composed by [Ag3I7] secondary building units based on AgI4 tetrahedra. Differently, the [Ag3I7] trimers are directly interconnected via corner-sharing to form the 2D [Ag6I11](5-) layer in compounds 1-5, whereas two neighboring [Ag3I7] trimers are initially condensed into a hexameric [Ag6I12] ternary building unit as a new node, which further self-assembles, leading to the 2D [Ag6I10](4-) layer in compound 6. The UV-vis diffuse-reflectance measurements reveal that all the compounds possess proper semiconductor behaviors with tunable band gaps of 1.66-2.75 eV, which lead to highly efficient photocatalytic degradation activities over organic pollutants under visible light irradiation compared to that of N-dotted P25. Interestingly, all the samples feature distinct photodegradative speeds at the same reaction conditions, and compound 1 features the highest photocatalytic activity among the title phases. The luminescence properties, band structures, and thermal stabilities were also studied.

RESUMO

The thermally induced de-/rehydrogenation performance of the graphene supported Pt nanoparticles (Pt/G) doped LiBH4 was greatly improved even at very low catalyst content due to a synergetic effect of Pt addition and nanoconfinement in graphene. For the 5 wt% Pt/G doped LiBH4 sample, the onset hydrogen desorption temperature is about 140 °C lower than that of the pure LiBH4. With increasing loading of the Pt/G catalysts in LiBH4 samples, the onset dehydrogenation temperature and the two main desorption peaks from LiBH4 were found to decrease while the hydrogen release amount increased. About 17.8 wt% can be released from the 50 wt% Pt/G doped LiBH4 sample below 500 °C. Moreover, variation of the equilibrium pressure (350-450 °C) indicates that the dehydrogenation enthalpy is reduced from 74 kJ mol(-1) H2 for the pure LiBH4 to ca. 48 kJ mol(-1) H2 for the 10 wt% Pt/G doped LiBH4, showing improved thermodynamic properties. More importantly, a reversible capacity of ca. 8.1 wt% in the 30th de-/rehydrogenation cycle was achieved under 3 MPa H2 at 400 °C for 10 h, indicating that the Pt/G catalysts play a crucial role in the improvement of the hydrogen uptake reversibility of LiBH4 at lower temperature and pressure conditions. Especially, LiBH4 was reformed and a new product, Li2B10H10, was detected after the rehydrogenation process.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Published data regarding the association between xeroderma pigmentosum group D (XPD) Lys751Gln and Asp312Asn polymorphisms and gastric cancer susceptibility havew been inconclusive. This meta-analysis was therefore performed toobtain a more precise estimation of any relationship. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A comprehensive literature search was conducted to identify all case-control studies of Lys751Gln and Asp312Asn polymorphisms and susceptibility to gastric cancer. Summary odds ratios (ORs) and its 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were calculated using a random-effects model with the software STATA (version10.0). RESULTS: A total of 12 case-control studies including 3,147 cases and 4,736 controls were included. Overall, no significant associations were found in some models (for Lys751Gln: Lys/Gln vs Lys/Lys: OR=1.144, 95% CI=0.851-1.541, Gln/Gln vs Lys/Lys: OR=1.215, 95% CI = 0.740-1.955, dominant model: OR=1.137, 95% CI=0.818-1.582; recessive model: OR=1.123, 95% CI=0.765-1.650; for Asp312Asn: Asp/Asn vs Asp/Asp: OR=1.180, 95% CI=0.646-2.154, dominant model: OR=1.380, 95% CI = 0.812-2.346), but significantly elevated susceptibility was found for Asp312Asn polymorphism in some models (Asn/Asn vs Asp/Asp: OR=2.045, 95% CI=1.254-3.335, recessive model: OR=1.805, 95% CI =1.219-2.672 ), for the additive model, the XPD Lys751Gln and Asp312Asn polymorphisms were not significantly associated with gastric cancer susceptibility. In stratified analyses, significantly elevated susceptibility was found for some models in the Chinese population. CONCLUSION: This meta-analysis suggested the XPD Asp312Asn polymorphism might be a potential biomarker of gastric cancer susceptibility in overall population, while both XPD Lys751Gln and Asp312Asn polymorphisms might be risk factors of gastric cancer susceptibility in Chinese.
