Hemodialysis as an Effective Treatment for Combined Amlodipine and Metformin Overdose: A Case Report and Literature Review.

The combined toxicity of amlodipine and metformin is a rarely reported phenomenon in the literature. The management varies depending on the clinical status of the patient. We present a case that was managed successfully with the early initiation of hemodialysis.

Hyperuricemia-associated Mesoamerican Nephropathy: Case Report and Review of Literature.

Mesoamerican nephropathy (MeN), formerly called chronic kidney disease of unknown cause (CKDu), refers to chronic kidney disease (CKD) that presents in young and middle-aged Central Americans in the absence of any clear etiology. MeN is a relatively new diagnosis with rapidly rising prevalence in specific regions of El Salvador and Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Costa Rica. It is seldom associated with hyperuricemia. We present a case of a patient with gouty arthritis and hyperuricemia with associated CKD due to MeN. We also provide a review of literature of this disease.

[Evolution of the nitrate content of drinking water in the Department of Yonne: new evaluation since 1975]. / Evolution des teneurs en nitrates dans les eaux d'alimentation du département de l'Yonne: nouveau bilan depuis 1975.

A perceptible increase in the grade of nitrates in drinking waters in the Yonne Country had been established from 1969 to 1975 and had formed the subject of a previous published work. The present issue gives details about the persuit of this research from 1975 to 1979. It appears from it that the increase in the grade of nitrates in drinking waters is definitely continuing in most areas from 1975 with the exception of Morvan and Senonais. In 1979, the highest average grades reached 37 mg NO3/1 (Plateaux de Bourgogne) and the lowest 7 mg NO3/1 (Morvan). The number of collectings where the grades exceeded 44 mg/1 is increasing: 8% in 1975, 21% in 1979.
