RESUMO
Morphological pattern of the retina in the trauma focus and outside its borders has been studied electron microscopically after application of ruby laser monoimpulse radiation (wave length 0.69 mcm, energy 1.06-1.25 X 10(-4) J and impulse length 20 nc). The trauma focus is not limited only by the volcano-shaped inflation of the retina. The lesion of the photoreceptory ultrastructure and the disturbance of microcirculation in the vascular layer are defined in 3 zones investigated: at the distance 50, 100 and 1,000 mcm from the spot on the retina, visible in the light microscope. This phenomenon should be taken into consideration when choosing therapeutic doses of laser radiation, applied for treatment of various diseases of the eye.

Hormone content and enzyme activity change under the influence of hyperbaria and in decompression disease long before the symptoms of the disease appear. Apart from that, an increase in adrenalin, noradrenalin, 17-oxycorticosteroids, and glucose concentrations, erythrocyte number and hemoglobin, as well as lowering of amylase and catalase activities are the indicative signs for prognostication and diagnosis of the decompression disease.

Regeneration of the peripheral red blood was considerably retarded in the anemic rabbits (blood letting of 2% of body weight) after a 5-hour exposure to the hyperoxiconditions (98% of oxygen in the inhaled air, 2 ata).

Before exposure of man to hyperoxia the blood plasma posessed erythropoietic activity, but 18 to 20 hours after exposure to compressed air condition in the high pressure chamber corresponding to the depth of 100 metres there proved to be a marked fall of the erythropoietic activity. No statistically significant shifts were revealed in the peripheral blood indices by that time.

Three to five hours after 5-hour exposure of rabbits to high oxygen pressure (2 ata) the erythropoietin proved to disappear from both the arterial and the venous blood plasma of the kidneys. At the same time the blood plasma from the renal vein began to suppress the mitotic activity of erythroblastic cells in the bone marrow culture. These data testify to the fact that under hyperbaric hyperoxia the kidneys secreted the inhibitor of erythropoiesis. No erythropoiesis inhibitor was revealed 24 hours after the hyperoxia.
