RESUMO

In this study, we present evidence that red blood cell (RBC) membrane p68 in the Belgrade (b/b) rat is similar if not identical to rat serum albumin (RSA). Structural homology between RSA and the RBC p68 has been determined by a variety of biochemical and immunological criteria. This albumin-like protein is a normal constituent of rat RBC and it is partially exported by exosomes during erythroid differentiation. The endogenous origin of rat RBC albumin-like protein was demonstrated by monitoring protein synthesis in reticulocytes and by identification of reticulocyte mRNA for albumin. Haemolytic anaemia, either hereditary (b/b rat) or drug-induced (phenylhydrazine-treated normal rat), results in increased accumulation of the albumin-like protein in rat RBCs as a result of its induced synthesis.

RESUMO

The aim of this work is primary lung cancer in female population of the Doboj district in the period 1975-88. incidence research as well as age structure, localisation, histological types, stage and diseases associated with lung cancer. A group of 114 female patients was investigated and as comparative group male patients with lung cancer in the same period was used. The results show that incidence rate increase is significant and in the future that trend will be continued. Especially serious is often microcellular and adenocarcinoma appearance as well as female non-smoking patients (42%) and patients with diabetes mellitus (18%) in the investigated group high percentage. These phenomena lead to conclusion that risk factors are partly different and they should be better investigated. Females with diabetes mellitus require special treatment and further research should be focused on diabetes--lung cancer relationship.

RESUMO

The aim of this study was to determine the percentage of patients with lung cancer associated with pulmonary tuberculosis, and difference between those who only suffered from lung cancer and those who had lung cancer associated with any kind of pulmonary tuberculosis. In that sense two groups of patients: first one--110 lung cancer cases with different forms of pulmonary tuberculosis (investigated group), and second one--686 patients without any signs of pulmonary tuberculosis (control group) were studied and compared. Three scare cancers were squamous, three were adenocarcinoma and one undifferentiated cell type.

RESUMO

In a comparative study, two groups of patients suffering from bronchial asthma or chronic obstructive bronchitis were tested with the new broncholytic substance 7-(3-[2/24/k-dihydroxyphenyl-2-hydroxy-ethylamino]-propyl)-theophylline (reproterol, Bronchspasmin) versus the well proven drug orciprenaline. Both preparations were administered for four weeks in doses of 3 x 20 mg/day (some patients received 6 x 10 mg/day). Different variables of the lung function were examined twice weekly prior to and 1 hr following ingestion of the substance (FVC, FEV1, Rt, IGV, Palpha02). On the basis of findings in above variables, both reproterol and orciprenaline showed very good and significant broncholytic effects. The efficacy of reproterol, however, proved to be significantly superior to that of orciprenaline. This also has been confirmed in subjective reports of patients with regard to strength and duration of alleviation of their respiratory distress. Palpitation, slight tremor of the fingers, restlessness, pressure in the head and dizziness were mentioned as side effects. These symptoms occurred fairly often with orciprenaline, but relatively seldom with reproterol. This difference between the preparations was highly significant. Following four weeks of administration, no tachyphylaxis was observed. In view of the submitted results, reproterol represents, no doubt, a considerable addition to the presently available therapeutic collection of remedies for the treatment of obstructive airways diseases.
