RESUMO
Peripheral blood lymphocytes were electron microscopically studied in patients with disseminated drug-sensitive and drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis before and during specific antituberculous chemotherapy. There was a tendency for an increase in the count of lymphocytes with membranous morphostructural changes during the therapy, which was more clearly defined in the drug-resistant type of the infectious process. It is suggested that antituberculous drugs have a damaging effect on the membrane of immunocompetent blood cells.

Twenty-four children aged 3-15 years were examined, 16 of these with cutaneous and articulo-cutaneous hemorrhagic vasculitis (HV) and 8 normal controls. The patients were divided into 2 groups: 10 patients treated by basic therapy and 6 children whose treatment protocols were supplemented by membranoprotector locheine. The children were repeatedly examined 1 month after discharge from hospital. Scanning electron microscopy of peripheral blood erythrocytes provides valuable diagnostic data on erythrocyte membrane morphology and function in children with HV and can serve as a method for monitoring the efficiency of new approaches to therapy of this disease.

Electron microscopic study of the surface architectonics and ultrastructure of the peripheral blood erythrocytes in 25 children with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) revealed that the decrease of the count of disk-shaped cells, increased count of transitional and degenerative forms, and alteration of their ultrastructure. Traditional therapy failed to completely normalized these characteristics over the entire follow-up.
