RESUMO

Bettolepsy (B) refers to episodes of fainting of abrupt onset in patients with nonspecific pulmonary diseases, occurring at the paroxysm of coughing. The authors conducted a comprehensive evaluation in 12 patients liable to B attacks, that incorporated study of the state of the vegetative nervous system, EEG, REG, ultrasonic dopplerography of major vessels of the brain, computerized tomography to the brain, echocardioscopy, roentgenography of the spinal column. The data obtained allow B episodes to be regarded as an acute disturbance in cerebral bloodflow in vascular beds of the vertebrobasilar system of transient ischemic attacks type, which fact leads to derangement in the ascending impacts of the reticular formation, and is a syncopal state.

RESUMO

The clinical picture of 260 patients with thoracalgia was characterized by chest pain, thoracic spine pain, subcostal and epigastric pain. In several patients treatment (traditional) failed. Different diseases of the digestive organs were found: chronic cholecystitis, biliary dyskinesia, gastric and duodenal ulcers which significantly contributed to the painful syndrome. Cooperation of the neurologist, gastroenterologist and surgeon favoured adequate rehabilitation of this category of patients.

RESUMO

Results are reported of a study of the blood flow in patients (age: 18-70) with different grades of bradyarrhythmia due to atrioventricular block with weakness of the sinus node. Examined were: CBF rheoencephalographically, ultrasound dopplerography, products of lipid peroxidation in the blood. Bradyarrhythmia was found to occupy a major place in the pathogenesis of cerebrovascular disorders. Adequate therapy allows to achieve good rehabilitation of this category of patients.

RESUMO

The authors used an original device to examine the psychomotor function: rate of information processing, mean reaction time to light stimuli, number of errors in these events and changes of the functional state of the vegetative nervous system by fixation of electrical resistance of the skin before and after work. A study of 120 patients and 20 healthy subjects revealed a close relationship of psychomotor and vegetative functions, worsening of psychomotor reaction in hyperactivation of one of the links of the vegetative nervous system.

RESUMO

Of 1498 patients suffering of hiatal hernias of the diaphragm 375 were operated on for complicated course of the disease. It was established that in some of the complicated course of the disease the background is the vagal-solar syndrome developing due to traumatization of the branches of vagal nerves and solar structures by the stomach prolapsing into the mediastinum. To control this phenomenon the authors used in 167 patients their original method of surgical correction of hiatal hernias of the diaphragm. The result was favourable in 87.7% of the total number of 375 patients with complicated forms of hiatal hernias of the diaphragm. Lethality--0.8%.

RESUMO

The authors examined 354 workers of Donbass coal mines with initial manifestations of cerebral circulation insufficiency. It was established that the onset of the disease is in workers over 30 years of age and gradually its frequency increases. Cerebrovascular pathology is more pronounced in miners working at evening and night hours, in particular, in case of unfavourable working conditions. An important place in the development of cerebrovascular pathology belongs to dysfunction of the vegetative nervous system. Prophylactic and therapeutic measures are outlined.
