RESUMO

Cephalhematoma is an accumulation of blood in the subperiosteal space. While cephalhematoma is a well-documented postnatal occurrence, antenatal presentation is quite rare. This case report focuses on a rare presentation of fetal scalp swelling in a routine 32-week antenatal scan of a 38-year-old female. The swelling resolved spontaneously after birth. Awareness of this atypical manifestation is crucial for the radiologist to consider it in the differentials and for the obstetrician in providing appropriate prenatal care and avoiding unnecessary drastic interventions. The aim is to elucidate the diagnostic challenges and clinical management of this unique presentation.

RESUMO

Urocolpos refers to urinary distension of the vagina; it commonly results from vesicovaginal fistula or reflux. In this case report, we present the clinical and radiological aspects of an 18-year-old female presenting with no significant urinary complaints, but with imaging findings of hydrocolpos. This would disappear after voiding. Vesicovaginal reflux resulting in urocolpos is a rarely diagnosed condition, and the radiologist may be mystified by the intermittent nature of the findings. We emphasize the importance of recognizing the entity before proposing surgical treatment.

RESUMO

This pictorial atlas provides a review of perianal fistulas with a brief description of the relevant anatomy, technique of imaging, and examples of various fistula types. Magnetic resonance imaging is highly accurate for depiction of both the primary tract and its secondary branches as well as abscesses. It is useful in the accurate preoperative classification of perianal fistulas and allows institution of the correct surgical procedure, thereby reducing the chances of recurrence or complications from occurring.
