Introduction Nomophobia is an emerging phobia resulting from people's excessive interaction with mobile phones. This phobia is rapidly increasing due to significant technological innovations and widespread acceptance and usage of mobile phones worldwide. Nomophobia is often associated with complications such as panic attacks, irritability, and anxiety. Smartphone usage is particularly high among the younger population, raising concerns as it generates distress and leads to various problems. This study aims to determine the prevalence of nomophobia among undergraduates. Method  The study utilized the Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q) with a minimum sample size of 136. A total of 300 Google Forms (Google, Mountain View, California) were circulated, out of which 172 responses were received. A Google Form comprising 20 questions related to smartphone use and nomophobia was designed and distributed to all undergraduate students, who were requested to complete the form. The data based on their responses were subsequently analyzed. Results In this study, approximately 31.40% of students disagreed with experiencing panic when running out of credits or hitting monthly data limits. Additionally, 24.42% of students agreed that not having smartphones made them worried, as their family and friends could not contact them. About 16.86% of students strongly disagreed with feeling uneasy because they could not stay updated without their phones. Furthermore, 16.28% strongly agreed that they felt anxious due to the inability to contact their family and friends when not having smartphones. Conclusion It can be concluded from this study that nomophobia is present among undergraduate students. The overall usage of smartphones has increased in this population, highlighting the emergence of a serious disorder that warrants attention. Consequently, the usage of smartphones should be reduced through structured training programs, as this proves to be an effective method for enhancing undergraduates' understanding of the prevention and treatment of nomophobia.

The posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), one of the key ligaments in the knee, serves to prevent backward movement of the tibia relative to the femur. A simultaneous occurrence of a PCL avulsion fracture and a femur shaft fracture in a pediatric patient suggests a complex orthopedic injury resulting from significant trauma to the knee and thigh area. This study describes the rehabilitation process of a 12-year-old female involved in a road traffic accident, who suffered both a midshaft femur fracture and a PCL avulsion fracture. Following surgical procedures, the patient underwent a comprehensive physiotherapy regimen utilizing X-Sens inertial sensor technology. The rehabilitation plan comprised multiple stages targeting pain alleviation, muscle strengthening, flexibility exercises, gait retraining, and balance improvement. Various interventions including contrast baths, cryotherapy, patellar mobilization, isotonic and resistance exercises, and progressive gait training were integrated across different phases of the rehabilitation program. Over subsequent follow-up periods, the patient demonstrated significant enhancements in pain management, range of motion, muscle strength, functional capabilities, and gait metrics. This case report underscores the efficacy of a systematic physiotherapy strategy incorporating advanced technology in the successful recovery from intricate lower limb fractures, underscoring the importance of prompt intervention and multidisciplinary collaboration for optimal patient outcomes.

One of the most prevalent degenerative musculoskeletal conditions is lumbar spinal canal stenosis (LSS), which is characterized by narrowing of the lumbar spinal canal that pressures the nerve roots and cauda equine. LSS, when treated surgically, usually presents with foot drop as its major complication. Foot drop is a common presentation of several clinical diseases, traditionally characterized as severe weakening of ankle and toe dorsiflexion. Foot drop has a great impact on patients' lives, lowering their quality of life and affecting their activities of daily living. Ankle dorsiflexion weakness leads to foot drop and a high-stepping gait, which can cause multiple falls and accidents. This case study aimed to assess the efficacy of a customized physiotherapy program in a 50-year-old woman with paraparesis along with left foot drop and post-surgery complications following lumbar decompression and spinal fusion at L3-S1 (lumbar-sacral) level after a jerk experienced by her while working out in the gym. The objective was to determine the impact of individualized exercises on the patient's strength, gait, balance, and pelvic floor function over a 12-week rehabilitation period. The interventions included lower limb exercises (stretching exercises, strengthening exercises, and weight-bearing exercises), pelvic floor exercises, and core stability training. The findings demonstrated significant improvements in the patient's functional outcomes, as evidenced by enhanced scores in the Berg Balance Scale, Manual Muscle Testing, Dynamic Gait Index, Barthel Index, and Stanmore Assessment Questionnaire. Notable progress was observed in the strength, balance, gait, and pelvic floor function, highlighting the positive influence of targeted physiotherapeutic interventions. This case underscores the importance of tailored exercise plans in addressing the complexities of post-surgery challenges, emphasizing the potential for comprehensive recovery and improved overall quality of life through personalized physiotherapy.
