RESUMO

It is established that application of the test-system "age-normal antibodies-leucocytes-lymphocytes" permits refusing in certain cases from the generally-accepted laboratory immunological tests and prognosticate their values depending on the test-system indices when using the regression models. The great incongruity of the predicted and real values of the concrete immunological index may be the manifestation of the risk factors associated with the oncological and other diseases.

RESUMO

The immune status of 393 practically healthy people of the city of Vilnius with the allowance for age, sex, harmful industrial and environmental factors was investigated. Out of six types of immune reactions, three suppressive ones were observed: the threshold stimulated, stimulated with deficit and suppressive one. They may be considered as endogenous oncological risk factors as well as risk factors for other diseases. An assumption is made that a decrease of the leukocyte number, population level of normal antibodies, IgG, and IgM in examined people may be due to deterioration of general ecological conditions of the city.

RESUMO

The relationship between the macrophage infiltration and the specific growth rate of tumours was studied by the technique of spontaneous migration of lymphoreticular cells from tissue fragments. In the case of dimethylnitrosamine-induced rat kidney tumours and Ehrlich solid tumour in mice the increased migration of activated macrophages was associated with the average specific growth rate. The macrophage infiltration of tumours and systemic immune reactivity to tumour-associated antigens depend probably on tumour cell kinetics.

RESUMO

The Ehrlich ascitic carcinoma (EAC) growing subcutaneously in (CBA X C57B1)F1 mice was found to induce leukocytosis with the elevated number of mature granulocytes in the peripheral blood. At the same time depletion of the cell amount in the thymus and an increase of cells, especially granulocytic ones, in the spleen was observed. Granulocyte contamination of the ficoll-verografin gradient interphase was detected in mononuclear cells separated from tumour host blood. Simultaneously, expression of Fc G-receptors of granulocytes decreased in tumour-bearing mice. These data are discussed in terms of inhibitory effect of the EAC on granulocyte functions in the presence of paraneoplastic leukocytosis.

RESUMO

The paper is a review of the investigations on the immunological status in patients and healthy people in the light of old and new ideas of immunological surveillance in cases of malignant growth. A discrepancy between peculiarities of malignant growth and changes in the immunological function of the organism is estimated. Some data are given in favour of the importance of revealing nonspecific immunological mechanisms of surveillance when malignant cells appear. The author shows her methods of determining the immunological status of an individual by means of normal antibodies to one of common enterobacterial antigens and the number of leukocytes and lymphocytes in peripheral blood. The immunological functions of the organism are classified. The tests and classification may be suitable for determining the immunological status of population. The last stage of the work can be carried out by means of a suitable mathematical model.

RESUMO

To reveal the cytotoxic activity of antitumor drugs the experiments were conducted in vitro-in vivo. Active substances in the dosage of 800 mg per 1 Kg of tumor were found to suppress sarcoma 45 transplantability during 1 hour in vitro. But inactive substances did it only in much larger doses. The result of the in vivo-in vitro experiments coincided with the results obtained by other investigators studying the antitumor activity in vivo. The experiments using the proposed method of selection required a much less amount of the substance (a biological experiment, repeated twice, can be carried out having 1--3 mg), animals, time and efforts of the researcher.
