RESUMO

AIM: Investigation of the condition of the liver, gastrointestinal tract, heart in patients at the stage of clinicohematological remission after treatment for hemoblastosis (acute leukemia, Hodgkin's disease, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma). RESULTS: Marked functional-morphological changes were found: endomyocardial fibrosis, cardiopathy, pulmonary hypertension, chronic atrophic gastritis, colon lesions, dysbacteriosis, viral or drug-induced hepatitis. CONCLUSION: The above affections have developed because of the treatment: chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hemotransfusions, antibacterial drugs. They deteriorate life quality and require a special system of rehabilitation measures.

RESUMO

The authors describe a case of a giant cyst of the right kidney (10 x 10 x 11 cm). The diagnosis was made with the aid of the current method of tomographic diagnosis--NMR tomography. It has been shown that information provided by the method supplements in many respects the data obtained by conventional methods of examination--radionuclide scanning, ultrasound studies, excretory urography and so forth. The merits and shortcomings of NMR tomography are provided. Differential diagnosis of cystic derangement of the kidneys carried out with the aid of NMR tomography is reviewed.

RESUMO

Proceeding from a study of an ultrasound picture of liver focal changes of benign nature in 60 patients a conclusion was made that nonparasitic cysts could be verified on the basis of a typical ultrasound picture and its stability over time. The presence of daughter cysts and septal membranes was indicative of unilocular hydatid disease. Additional laboratory investigations were necessary for the recognition of alveolar hydatid disease. It was desirable that the diagnosis of liver abscess and hematoma should be confirmed by fine needle spot puncture. By their ultrasound picture benign liver tumors did not differ significantly from malignant ones. To exclude the latter fine needle spot puncture was necessary. Hemangioma should be verified by angiography, the rest of benign tumors--by histology.

RESUMO

The authors stressed the point that investigations conducted by them, showed a high value of ultrasonic scanning in the recognition of diffuse liver lesions. Ultrasonic diagnosis of persisting and active forms of chronic hepatitis can be only hypothetical because of the absence of pathognomonic echographic signs of this type of pathology. On echography fatty degeneration was characterized by hepatomegaly, blurred liver contours, preserved elasticity of the organ and diffuse homogeneous enhancement of its structure. Diffuse focal enhancement of the echo structure of the liver, its irregular surface, and an increase in the liver elasticity and echo permeability indicated a possibility of liver cirrhosis, and the combination of these signs with ascites or dilatation of the portal veins confirmed it. There was no relationship of an ultrasonic picture with clinical symptoms and laboratory findings.
