RESUMO

As many as 23 patients (18 women and 5 men) with bilateral neurinomas of auditory nerves were examined. In the authors' opinion, the method of short-latent auditory evoked potentials is one of the most adequate ones as regards the diagnosis of the given type pathology. It is necessary that it may be applied in medical practice.

RESUMO

As many as 47 patients with different extrapyramidal hyperkinesias were examined. In addition to the methods commonly accepted in otoneurology, use was made of the method of recording short-wave auditory evoked potentials (SAEP). The parameters of SAEP were correlated to the degree of auditory and vestibular function impairment. The data obtained indicate that the majority of patients with hyperkinesias manifest a well-defined reduction of the amplitude and an increase of the latent period of the late waves of SAEP, which attests to the interest of the cerebral structures.

RESUMO

A computerized system for diagnosis and investigation of vestibular reactions is described. The system is very suitable for clinical application because it has an open and rational architecture as well as the capability to modify tests and algorithms. The system may also help shorten the time required for medical examinations. The computer is used in the conversational mode based on the command menu. The computer displays a command for the operator to indicate yes or no. This approach is very efficient and does not require specially trained personnel.
