RESUMO

Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum Gaertn.) albumin was hydrolyzed by alkaline protease, and three new antioxidant peptides (P1, P2, and P3) were successfully separated from the hydrolysate (TBAH). The sequences of the three antioxidant peptides were Gly-Glu-Val-Pro-Trp (GEVPW), Tyr-Met-Glu-Asn-Phe (YMENF), and Ala-Phe-Tyr-Arg-Trp (AFYRW), and their molecular weights were 586.65, 702.79, and 741.85 Da, respectively. All three peptides have a good antioxidant capacity, and P3 (AFYRW) demonstrates the best antioxidant activity of the three. The IC50 values of AFYRW for scavenging hydroxyl radicals (OH·) and (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) DPPH· free radicals were 0.65 and 0.64 mM, respectively. In addition, AFYRW exhibits the strongest lipid peroxidation inhibition ability and the highest reducing power. The results of this research indicate that the three isolated peptides can be used in the development of various antioxidant additives in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To develop and validate an interactive nomogram to predict healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs) in the intensive care unit (ICU). METHODS: A multicenter retrospective study was conducted to review 2017 data from six hospitals in Guizhou Province, China. A total of 1,782 ICU inpatients were divided into either a training set (n = 1,189) or a validation set (n = 593). The patients' demographic characteristics, basic clinical features from the previous admission, and their need for bacterial culture during the current admission were extracted from electronic medical records of the hospitals to predict HCAI. Univariate and multivariable analyses were used to identify independent risk factors of HCAI in the training set. The multivariable model's performance was evaluated in both the training set and the validation set, and an interactive nomogram was constructed according to multivariable regression model. Moreover, the interactive nomogram was used to predict the possibility of a patient developing an HCAI based on their prior admission data. Finally, the clinical usefulness of the interactive nomogram was estimated by decision analysis using the entire dataset. RESULTS: The nomogram model included factor development (local economic development levels), length of stay (LOS; days of hospital stay), fever (days of persistent fever), diabetes (history of diabetes), cancer (history of cancer) and culture (the need for bacterial culture). The model showed good calibration and discrimination in the training set [area under the curve (AUC), 0.871; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.848-0.894] and in the validation set (AUC, 0.862; 95% CI, 0.829-0.895). The decision curve demonstrated the clinical usefulness of our interactive nomogram. CONCLUSIONS: The developed interactive nomogram is a simple and practical instrument for quantifying the individual risk of HCAI and promptly identifying high-risk patients.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To compare the differences of radiographical and functional outcomes between traditional and minimally invasive approach in treating Hawskins type I fractures of the talar neck. METHODS: From February 2000 to February 2008, 37 patients underwent reduction and internal fixation using two different approaches. In minimally invasive approach group, there were 16 males and 2 females, ranging in age from 20 to 47 years, averaged (35.2 +/- 3.1) years, and in traditional approach group, there were 15 males and 4 females, ranging in age from 22 to 44 years, averaged (35.3 +/- 2.3)years. All the patients had Hawskins type I fractures. The following data were compared between two groups: operation time, blood loss, length of incision and function of ankle joint. All the patients were graded by Hawkins points-scoring system after operation. RESULTS: All patients were followed up. The duration ranged from 2 to 10 years, with an average of 5.6 years. The index such as operation time, blood loss and the length of incision of patients in minimally invasive approach group were significantly less than those of patients in traditional approach group. According to AOFAS points-scoring system, the score of minimally invasive group was higher than that of traditional approach group. CONCLUSION: Compared with traditional approach, minimally invasive approach can protect blood supply better, get better clinical effects, which is worth of choosing to treat Hawskins type II fractures of talar neck.
