Purpose: Diabetes care is one of the major healthcare problems . This study aimed to introduce a recently-developed Quality of Care Index (QCI) for type 2 diabetes and utilized it to compare different genders, age groups, and Iranian provinces. Methods: From the Global Burden of Disease 1990-2019 database, we obtained primary epidemiologic measures and combined them to build four secondary indices, all indicating the quality of care provided to patients. We utilized the principal component analysis (PCA) method to calculate the substantial component named QCI (with a scale of 0-100). Gender inequality was shown by the gender disparity ratio (GDR), defining female to male QCI. Results: National QCI ranged from 43.0 in 1990 to 38.6 in 2019. By excluding the more frequent outlier province; Tehran as the Capital of Iran, the QCI score reached 50.27 in 2019. The GDR decreased from 1.04 to 0.95. QCI indicated rather more favorable conditions in Iranian provinces with a higher socio-demographic index (SDI). Conversely, provinces with a lower SDI had worse QCI. In 2019, Tehran, the capital of Iran, with the highest (58.5), and South Khorasan with the lowest QCIs (0.4) were the two Iranian provinces' extremes. Moreover, the elderly QCI improved in 2019. Conclusion: During 1990-2019, there are remarkable disparities between Iran's provinces, genders and age groups. The equitable and widespread provision of facilities should be considered along with the decentralization of healthcare resources. The rapid yellowing of the leaves on cut flowers with leafy stems severely limits their vase life and commercial value. In this study, the effect of a composite of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) on the longevity of cut Alstroemeria flowers (Alstroemeria hybrida) was investigated to obtain a solution to this problem. A range of MWCNTs/PVP composite concentrations (0, 3, 6, and 9 mg L-1) was applied in a vase solution (for 24 h) as pulse treatments. Our findings indicate that the composite of MWCNTs and PVP exhibits excellent dispersibility in a vase solution. The results demonstrate that a 3 mg L-1 MWCNTs/PVP concentration was the most effective, extending the vase life of cut Alstroemeria flowers by up to 27 days. Pulsing with MWCNTs/PVP delayed the onset of floret abscission and leaf yellowing by 5 and 18 days, respectively. Additionally, when MWCNTs/PVP solution was applied to cut stems, water uptake remained consistently greater than that of the control. Additionally, MWCNTs/PVP increased the total chlorophyll content, soluble protein content, and POX enzyme activity of leaves while decreasing the malondialdehyde (MDA) content. The results indicate that this composite exhibited antimicrobial activity against gram-positive and -negative bacteria, particularly at a concentration of 3 mg L-1. This study demonstrated that adding MWCNTs/PVP to a vase solution of Alstroemeria cut flowers increased their longevity with minimal leaf yellowing symptoms compared to untreated cut stems. As a result, this nanocomposite can be used safely and effectively in vase solutions and in combination with other preservatives.

BACKGROUND: More than 170 million people in the world are infected with Hepatitis C virus (HCV). Determination of HCV genotype before starting the treatment is required, because HCV genotype affects the course of treatment and drug dosage. OBJECTIVES: We aimed to evaluate HCV genotypes among patients with positive results for anti-HCV in Bandar Abbas from 2011 to 2012. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Five hundred and nine consecutive patients with established chronic HCV infection referred to Behavioral Diseases Consultation Center, Blood Transfusion and Center for Special Diseases from March 2011 to March 2012 were enrolled in this cross sectional study. Five mL of peripheral blood was taken from precipitants and viral RNA extracted after plasma separation. Hepatitis C virus RNA was detected by reverse transcriptase-nested polymerase chain reaction (RT-nested PCR) assay and then HCV genotypes analyzed using restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) method. RESULTS: In overall, 509 patients enrolled to this study. The mean age of these patients was 38.87 ± 9.55 years ranging from 1 to 90 years. Routs of transmission were: 238 (46.7%) inject of substance, 149 (29.3%) unknown rout, 62 (12.2%) blood transfusion, 50 (9.8%) sexual contact, and 10 (2%) mother to child. Frequency of HCV genotypes were: 316 (62.1%) 1a, 117 (23%) 1b, and 76 (14.9%) 3a. there was no significant association between HCV genotypes and gender, educational degree, risk factor of Hepatitis C, job, monthly income, HIV infection, Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, Intravenous drug injection, and underlying disease (P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: This results the same as many similar studies demonstrated that common HCV genotypes in Iranian patients were 1a, 3a and 1b, respectively. Patients with 1a and 1b genotypes have lower responses to interferon treatment, and it is reasonable to perform early screening to diagnose and determine HCV genotype for effective treatment and diagnose high-risk cases.
