The authors have followed up the time course of lymphocytes during healing of postoperative wounds of the face and neck. Three waves of lymphocyte activation and proliferation were distinguished. The first wave preceded the macrophagal stage of an inflammatory reaction, the second the fibroblastic regeneration phase, and the third anticipated wound epithelialization.

[The experience of using the 1-day hospital in maxillofacial surgery]. / Opyt ispol'zovaniia statsionara 1 dnia v cheliustno-litsevoi khirurgii.

The authors describe for the first time the experience gained by a one-day hospital for oral surgery. The efficacy of this hospital is analyzed and economic effect estimated.

[The use of ultrasound together with infrared laser radiation in the combined treatment of odontogenic phlegmons]. / Ispol'zovanie ul'trazvuka v kombinatsii s infrakrasnym lazernym izlucheniem v kompleksnom lechenii odontogennykh flegmon.

The efficacy of treatment of 98 patients suffering from maxillofacial odontogenic phlegmons was assessed from the results of clinical, laboratory, immunologic, biophotometric, and morphologic investigations, and compared to the results of traditional treatment of 132 patients with the same conditions. Multiple-modality treatment has proved to be much more effective; its advantages consisted in a shorter inpatient treatment and in better cosmetic results.

The results of investigation into neutrophilic-macrophagal relationship in purulent wound cicatrization in patients with maxillofacial phlegmons are presented. The one-factor analysis of variance was used to calculate the determination coefficient which proved that the neutrophils exert a strong influence on the mononuclear phagocytes.

[Combined treatment of odontogenic inflammatory processes using ultrasound and wide-spectrum laser radiation]. / Kompleksnoe lechenie odontogennykh vospalitel'nykh protsessov s ispol'zovaniem ul'trazvuka i lazernogo izlucheniia shirokogo spektra deistviia.

The results of comparative study of a combined ultrasound and broad spectrum laser treatment of 193 patients with mild odontogenic maxillofacial phlegmones are presented. A considerable efficiency of the combined ultrasound and laser therapy was shown. Specific features of the action of ultrasound and laser irradiation on the purulent wound were shown in patients with odontogenic maxillofaciall phlegmones.
