One hundred and fifty cases of typhoid in infants and young children are reported. In children over 5 years of age the features resembled those in adults, but in those under this age they were often nonspecific including fever, convulsions, diarrhoea, and vomiting. Attention is drawn to the importance of a blood culture in anaemic afebrile children who develop rigors and high fever after blood transfusions.

The clinical picture and local epidemiology in 65 cases of Burkitt's lymphoma seen in Ilesha, Western Nigeria, over a 16-year period is presented. Incidence figures have been calculated and comparison made with other Nigerian and East African reports. Ilesha is the centre of a high tumour density area. A changing pattern of presentation over the years has evolved. Its possible relationship to the treatment of malaria and immunization facilities is suggested and discussed.

The records of 465 patients admitted, or having biopsy, for malignant disease in one hospital over the 14 year period 1954-67, have been reviewed. Relative frequencies for different sites have been calculated and details recorded. The records of patients from Ilesha township, with a known population, were used to calculate incidence figures for the commonest tumours. Comparisons have been made with figures published from other West African hospitals. Carcinoma of stomach was the commonest form of cancer. A plea is made for more such surveys in West African district hospitals.
