The authors discuss surgical decompression of the brain in patients with malignant ischemic cerebral infarcts. Successful staged treatment of a middle-aged patient with malignant ischemic stroke in the middle cerebral artery basin is presented.

[The use of transcallosal ventriculostomy to treat complicated forms of aneurismal intracranial hemorrhages].

The present paper reports two cases of successful use of the anterior interhemispheric transcallosal approach during ultra-early surgery in patients in decompensated condition with severe intraventricular hemorrhage caused by rupture of cerebral aneurysms.

[An analysis of the epidemiological situation on multiple sclerosis in the Krasnodar region]. / Analiz épidemiologicheskoi situatsii po rasseiannomu sklerozu v Krasnodarskom krae.

The data of a clinical-epidemiological study of multiple sclerosis (MS) in the Krasnodar region are presented. The index of MS prevalence was estimated as 18.95 per 100.000 people. That allows to consider the region as an area with mid-level MS risk. The disease incidence was 2.18 per 100.000 people. The prevalence and incidence were the highest in the Russian population, aged 35-39 years.

[Combination of multiple distal posterior fossa aneurysms with cerebellar AVM].

A rare combination of distal aneurysms of SCA and PICA with cerebellar AVM is presented. Case report demonstrates successful simultaneous surgical treatment of all abovementioned anomalies.

This case report describes successful multistage combined treatment of a female patent with seven bilateral cerebral aneurysms.

[Amino acids content in the blood serum of patients with multiple sclerosis].

Content of amino acids in the blood serum using ion-exchange chromatography and a quantitative crystalloscopic "closed drop" method was measured in 105 patients with multiple sclerosis of different severity. The relation between the dynamics of content of glutamic, asparagine acids and glycine and the disease severity was determined. The highest level of glutamic acid was found in the patients with severe disease course. The dynamics of quantitative changes in the amino acid content was accompanied by the disturbance of blood serum structuration and appearance of selective micromorphotypes. The positive correlation between the severity of motor and coordination disorders and the increase in levels of glutamic acid and glycine in the severe cases was detected.

[The effect of hemosorption on the level of endogenous intoxication and the immunity indices of patients with craniocerebral trauma]. / Vliianie gemosorbtsii na uroven' éndogennoi intoksikatsii i nekotorye pokazateli immuniteta u bol'nykh s cherepno-mozgovoi travmoi.

Hemosorption as part of intensive therapy was made in 24 patients with severe and moderate craniocerebral injury. Due to the influence of toxic factors on the mechanisms responsible for the development of immune depression, the performance of the immune system could be normalized by disintoxication therapy as a tool of pathogenetic action on the main mechanisms of development of a pathological process. The investigations showed that the more effective the endogenous intoxication syndrome was levelled in craniocerebral injury, to the higher extent the major immunological parameters became normal in the shortest periods of time. Hemosorption substantially made the course of a traumatic disease milder by enhancing the efficiency of therapy for endotoxicosis. This effect mainly appeared as normalized metabolism and increased immune defense. Hemosorption improved the course of inflammatory complications, as evidenced by clinical features and laboratory findings. Hemosorption is effective prior to the occurrence of signs of clinical decompensation.

[Interrelation of endogenous intoxication and immunodepression in the pathogenesis of craniocerebral trauma]. / Vzaimosviaz' éndogennoi intoksikatsii i immunodepressii v patogeneze cherepno-mozgovoi travmy.

Endogenous intoxication degree as well as immunodepression level were examined in 50 patients with brain contusion of moderate and severe degree of gravity. Uncomplicated course of disease was observed in 20 patients while the complicated one--in 21 individuals. 9 patients with unfavourable outcome were also observed. The complex of biochemical and immunological studies of blood was used many times in the course of traumatic disease. The peculiarities of endogenous intoxication alterations as well as of T-lymphocytes system were revealed in acute period of craniocerebral trauma. The data obtained may be used in prognosis of both disease current and complications development.

[Clinical picture and diagnosis of mild craniocerebral injuries during alcoholic intoxication]. / Klinika i diagnostika legkoi cherepno-mozgovoi travmy pri alkogol'noi intoksikatsii.

The authors analysed 273 cases with brain contusion suffered in a state of acute alcohol intoxication. It was found that alcohol intoxication alters its clinical picture considerably. The dependence of the neurological symptoms on the degree and phase of alcohol intoxication is shown. Statistical processing of the information obtained allowed the most informative neurological symptoms of brain injury to be revealed. The significance of additional examination methods for the diagnosis is discussed. A dependence of the rheographic indices in brain injury on the phase of concomitant alcohol intoxication is demonstrated.
