RESUMO

The chromatographic behavior of the glycoprotein hormones from human pituitary glands and of placental origin [thyroid-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone and chorionic gonadotropin (CG)] was studied. It was shown that hydrophobic interaction chromatography on a microparticulate packing and anion-exchange HPLC can be applied for the purification of these hormones. Reversed-phase HPLC on wide-pore C4-bonded silica at neutral pH can be applied for the determination of the above hormones and for the isolation of pure CG and its subunits.

RESUMO

Stereospecific binding sites for (+)-[3H]SKF 10,047 have been demonstrated in rat liver. These binding sites were shown to be opioid receptors of the sigma type, and this was confirmed by their binding properties: reversibility, saturability, stereospecificity, effects of ions and various pharmacological drugs on (+)-[3H]SK sigma F 10,047 binding. The authors suggest that (+)-[3H]SKF 10,047 binding sites in liver and brain are a part of novel 'sigmergic' regulatory system.

RESUMO

Met- and Leu-enkephalin applied subarachnoidally into the rostral portion of a transected spinal cord (at the T6-T7 level) induce postural asymmetry of the hind limbs in rats, Met-enkephalin being predominantly responsible for the flexion of the right, and Leu-enkephalin of the left, hind leg. The blood serum of rats injected with Met-enkephalin contains a factor which, when administered subarachnoidally into the caudal portion of the transected spinal cord, is capable of inducing the hind limb postural asymmetry--predominantly, with the right leg flexion. This factor is inactivated by papain and differs from Met- and Leu-enkephalin in chromatographic properties. Apparently, Met-enkephalin induces the release of a peptide factor into the blood, from the brain or organs innervated by the neurons lying above the cut. It is then carried with the blood to the hind limbs and effects the hind limb postural asymmetry.
