[67Ga-citrate in the diagnosis of lung diseases]. / 67Ga-tsitrat v diagnostike zabolevanii legkikh.

Altogether 214 patients with different pulmonary diseases were examined using 67Ga-citrate scintigraphy. A high sensitivity of the method (94%) in the diagnosis of primary lung cancer and its high specificity (81.8%) in differential diagnosis of lung cancer and chronic non-specific lung diseases were established. The use of "positive" lung scintigraphy with 67Ga-citrate for diagnosis of metastatic pulmonary lesions as a result of a low sensitivity of the method in this pathology was found inappropriate. Differential diagnosis of lung cancer and acute inflammatory process by two investigations with 67Ga-citrate before and after a course of antibacterial and antiinflammatory therapy turned out possible; the preservation of a focus of raised accumulation of tumoritropic RP was typical of lung cancer whereas the disappearance of a focus or a decrease in the level of RP accumulation was typical of an acute inflammatory process.

[Transmission-emission lung scintigraphy in the diagnosis of lung diseases]. / Transmissionno-émissionnaia pul'mostsintigrafiia v diagnostike zabolevanii legkikh.

The potentialities of transmission-emission scintigraphy in the diagnosis of pulmonary diseases were studied. Thirty-eight patients were examined using transmission positive scintigraphy and 85 patients using transmission-perfusion pulmoscintigraphy. An analysis of the results obtained showed that a combined use of positive and transmission pulmoscintigraphy was a simple and available method providing a full-value idea of the anatomotopographic interrelationships of a tumor lesion and the surrounding tissues. A combined use of transmission and perfusion pulmoscintigraphy considerably expanded the diagnostic potentialities of the latter permitting accurate estimation of the volume of perfusion disorders in the lungs. The above method allows one to objectivize the estimation of positive and perfusion pulmoscintigrams.

[RNA and nuclear protein synthesis in regenerating and uninjured rabbit tissues]. / Sintez RNK i iadernykh belkov v regeneriruiushchei i netravmirovannykh tkaniakh krolikov.

Synthesis of RNA and nuclear proteins was activated in regenerating rabbit muscles within 2-8 days after trauma; within the subsequent periods (13-31 days) it was comparable with control values in most cases. The trauma affected the RNA synthesis in several other nontraumatized tissues of animals.

[Intrastitial iodine-131 administration in inoperable thyroid gland cancer]. / Vnutritkanevoe vvedenie ioda-131 pri inoperabel'nom rake shchitovidnoi zhelezy.

The authors report the indications to and the results of clinical application of interstitial injections of iodine-131 in unresectable tumors, recurrences and regional metastases of thyroid cancer. Interstitial injection of iodine-131 in 35 inoperable patients (66 injections of iodine-131) made it possible to reduce considerably the size of tumor by 1 g of the tumor, on the average, were of the order of 5140 rad, radiation exposure of blood and kidneys--0.03 rad/litre and 139 rad, accordingly. Neither complications nor grave local and general reactions were noted.
