RESUMO

Five undescribed oleanane triterpene glycosides named chryroxosides A-D (1-5), together with five known compounds (6-10) were isolated from the leaves of Chrysophyllum roxburghii G.Don. Their chemical structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic data analyses including IR, HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR). Compounds 1, 3, and 5 showed cytotoxic effects against KB, HepG2, HL60, P388, HT29, and MCF7 cell lines with the IC50 values ranging from 14.40 to 52.63 µM compared to the positive control compound (ellipticine) with the IC50 values ranging from 1.34 to 1.99 µM.

Introduction: Patient safety is a global challenge of preventing and mitigating medical errors which might harm patients during their course of treatment and care. This study was employed to contribute to the existing literature aimed to assess patient safety culture among health staff and to determine predictors of health staff perceptions of patient safety in hospitals in Vietnam. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in three hospitals of Vietnam with a total of 763 participants. This study used the Hospital Patient Safety Scale developed by the American Health and Quality Research Organization. Results: In general, 8 of 12 patient safety dimensions in two hospital; and 10 of 12 dimensions in a third hospital had average scores of 60% and above positive responses. The communication openness and organizational learning dimensions were found to be significant different when comparing hospitals. Regarding sample characteristics, department (subclinical department) and health staff positions (nurses/technicians, pharmacists) were significant predictors in the total model including three hospitals (R2 = 0.07). Conclusion: This study reported that communication openness and organization learning are two aspects that need to be improved they are strongly related to patient safety culture and to knowledge exchange among health staff. It has been suggested that hospitals should deliver patient safety training courses and establish a supportive learning environment to improve these challenges.

A phytochemical investigation of the methanolic extract of the Macropanax membranifolius C.B. Shang leaves led to the isolation of three new flavans, (2R,3R)-4'-O-methylcatechin 5-O-ß-D-glucopyranoside (1), (2S,3S)-4'-O-methylcatechin 5-O-ß-D-glucopyranoside (2), (2S,3R)-4'-O-methylcatechin 5-O-ß-D-glucopyranoside (3), one new triterpene glycoside 3-O-ß-D-xylopyranosyl-(1→6)-[ß-D-xylopyranosyl-(1→2)]-ß-D-glucopyranosyl-oleanolic acid 28-O-ß-D-glucopyranoside (4), together with nine known compounds (5-13). Their chemical structures were elucidated based on HR-ESI-MS, NMR spectroscopic data. The absolute configurations of compounds 1-3 were established by electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra. At concentration of 20 µM, compounds 1-13 showed the percentages of dead cell in the range of 2.14 % to 33.61 % against KB, HepG2, HL60, P388, HT29, and MCF7 cancerous cell lines by SRB assay.

Despite its significant role, brand management is an oft-overlooked and challenging aspect in the development of academic institutions, especially in higher education context. Based on a systematic review of journal articles from various sources including ScienceDirect, Emerald Insight and SpringerLink during the 2000-2021 period, the authors of this paper seek to identify, evaluate, and analyze university brand. After careful consideration of academic publications based on their relevance for the research objectives, 43 articles have been included in this comprehensive and integrative review. Special attention is paid to the theories underlying brand management, brand positioning, brand identity of a higher education institution, marketing strategies, as well as implications for management, students, and staff. Moreover, some valuable lessons which a university can learn from a company in marketing are identified. Thereby, the competitive advantages of a university would be firmly enhanced. It is our hope that this paper will explore a new path for further research and provide another perspective for administrators, authors and practitioners in the area of university brand.

This study examines determinants of Vietnamese agricultural exports to the APEC and whether there was an export gap between Vietnam and each APEC trading partner in the period 1998-2018, using the stochastic frontier gravity model. The empirical results affirm the consistency of the gravity model for Vietnamese agricultural exports. The new findings imply that the government should concentrate on designing a policy framework to encourage export enterprises to invest more in the technology factor, especially for large and high-demand markets such as the USA, Japan, and Korea. In practice, export enterprises should focus on several key action points. First, find partners to expand the distribution network of agricultural products within the four largest markets. Second, pay attention to updating information on the technical requirements of China, the largest import market. Third, conduct research to build up competitively strategic products that can be exported to potential new markets, such as Russia, Australia, and Malaysia.

In this work, a method of fabricating a NO2 nano-sensor working at room temperature with a low detectable concentration limit is proposed. A 2D-MoS2 flake is isolated by transferring a single MoS2 flake to SiO2/Si substrate, followed by applying an advanced e-beam lithography (EBL) to form a metal contact with Au/Cr electrodes. The resulting chemoresistive nano-sensor using a single MoS2 flake was applied to detect a very low concentration of NO2 at the part-per-billion (ppb) level. This result is obtained due to the ability to create microscopic nano-sized MoS2 gaps using e-beam lithography (300 nm-400 nm). Experimental results also show that the sensor can capture changes in concentration and send the information out extremely quickly. The response and recovery time of the sensor also reached the lowest point of 50 and 75 ms, outperforming other sensors with a similar concentration working range.

Background: Thymic epithelial tumors (TETs) are clinically the most frequently encountered neoplasm of the prevascular mediastinum in adults. The role of chest magnetic resonance (MR) imaging has been increasingly stressed thanks to its excellent contrast resolution, freedom from ionizing radiation, and capability to provide additional information regarding tumors' cellular structure and vascularity. Methods: This study aimed to establish the relationship between the MR findings and pathological classification of TETs, focusing on diffusion-weighted (DW) and dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) imaging. This retrospective cross-sectional study included 44 TET patients who underwent chest MR scanning. The tumors were classified into three groups according to the WHO classification: low-risk thymoma (LRT), high-risk thymoma (HRT), and non-thymoma (NT). Along with morphological characteristics, the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value, time-intensity curve (TIC) pattern, and time to peak enhancement (TTP) of the tumors were recorded and compared between the three groups. Results: A smooth contour and complete or almost complete capsule were suggestive of LRTs. The median ADC value of the 44 tumors was 0.95 × 10-3 mm2/sec. Among the three groups, LRTs had the highest ADC values, while NTs had the lowest. The differences between the ADC values of the three groups were statistically significant (p = 0.006). Using an ADC cutoff of 0.82 × 10-3 mm2/sec to differentiate between LRTs and tumors of the two remaining groups, the area under the curve was 0.775, sensitivity was 100%, specificity was 50%, and accuracy was 65.91%. The washout (type 3) TIC pattern was the most prevalent, accounting for 45.45% of the population; this pattern was also predominantly observed in LRTs (71.43%). Although the median TTP of LRTs was lower than that of HRTs or NTs, no statistically significant differences were found between the TTPs of the three groups (p = 0.170). Conclusions: MR is a good imaging modality to preoperatively assess TETs. Morphological features, ADC value, TIC pattern, and TTP are helpful in preoperatively predicting TET pathology.

Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) is considered to be a useful biomarker to characterize the cellularity of lesions, yet its application in the thorax to evaluate anterior mediastinal lesions has not been well investigated. The aims of our study were to describe the magnetic resonance (MR) characteristics of anterior mediastinal masses and to assess the role of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value in distinguishing benign from malignant lesions of the anterior mediastinum. We conducted a retrospective cross-sectional study including 55 patients with anterior mediastinal masses who underwent preinterventional MR scanning with the following sequences: T1 VIBE DIXON pre and post-contrast, T2 HASTE, T2 TIRM, DWI-ADC map (b values of 0 and 2000 sec/mm2). The ADC measurements were obtained by two approaches: hot-spot ROI and whole-tumor histogram analysis. The lesions were grouped by three distinct ways: benign versus malignant, group A (benign lesions and type A, AB, B1 thymoma) versus group B (type B2, B3 thymoma and other malignant lesions), lymphoma versus other malignancies. The study was composed of 55 patients, with 5 benign lesions and 50 malignant lesions. The ADCmean, ADCmedian, ADC10, ADC90 in the histogram-based approach and the hot-spot-ROI-based mean ADC of the malignant lesions were significantly lower than those of benign lesions (P values< 0.05). The hot-spot-ROI-based mean ADC had the highest value in differentiation between benign and malignant mediastinal lesions, as well as between group A and group B; the ADC cutoffs (with sensitivity, specificity) to differentiate malignant from benign lesions and group A from group B were 1.17 x 10-3 mm2/sec (80%, 80%) and 0.99 x 10-3 mm2/sec (78.4%, 88.9%), respectively. The ADC values obtained by using the hot-spot-ROI-based and the histogram-based approaches are helpful in differentiating benign and malignant anterior mediastinal masses.

Objectives This study aimed to assess the role of chest X-ray (CXR) scoring methods and their correlations with the clinical severity categories and the Quick COVID-19 Severity Index (qCSI). Methods We conducted a retrospective study of 159 COVID-19 patients who were diagnosed and treated at the University Medical Center between July and September 2021. Chest X-ray findings were evaluated, and severity scores were calculated using the modified CXR (mCXR), Radiographic Assessment of Lung Edema (RALE), and Brixia scoring systems. The three scores were then compared to the clinical severity categories and the qCSI using Spearman's correlation coefficient. Results Overall, 159 patients (63 males and 96 females) (mean age: 58.3 ± 15.7 years) were included. The correlation coefficients between the mCXR score and the Brixia and RALE scores were 0.9438 and 0.9450, respectively. The correlation coefficient between the RALE and Brixia scores was marginally higher, at 0.9625. The correlation coefficients between the qCSI and the Brixia, RALE, and mCXR scores were 0.7298, 0.7408, and 0.7156, respectively. The significant difference in the mean values of the three CXR scores between asymptomatic, mild, moderate, severe, and critical groups was also noted. Conclusions There were strong correlations between the three CXR scores and the clinical severity classification and the qCSI.

Introduction Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignancies in the world. Early detection and accurate diagnosis of HCC play an important role in patient management. This study aimed to develop a convolutional neural network-based model to identify and segment HCC lesions utilizing dynamic contrast agent-enhanced computed tomography (CT). Methods This retrospective study used CT image sets of histopathology-confirmed hepatocellular carcinoma over three phases (arterial, venous, and delayed). The proposed convolutional neural network (CNN) segmentation method was based on the U-Net architecture and trained using the domain adaptation technique. The proposed method was evaluated using 115 liver masses of 110 patients (87 men and 23 women; mean age, 56.9 years ± 11.9 (SD); mean mass size, 6.0 cm ± 3.6). The sensitivity for identifying HCC of the model and Dice score for segmentation of liver masses between radiologists and the CNN model were calculated for the test set. Results The sensitivity for HCC identification of the model was 100%. The median Dice score for HCC segmenting between radiologists and the CNN model was 0.81 for the test set. Conclusion Deep learning with CNN had high performance in the identification and segmentation of HCC on dynamic CT.

Fe3O4/Ag core/shell nanoparticles functionalized with the free amino (NH2) functional groups (Fe3O4/Ag-NH2) were conjugated with fluorescent electron coupled dye (ECD)-antiCD34 antibody using the 1-ethyl-3-(3'-dimethyl-aminopropyl) carbodiimide (EDC) catalyst (ECD - Electron Coupled Dye or R Phycoerythrin-Texas Red is a fluorescent organic dye attached to the antibody). The characteristic fluorescence of ECD in the antibody was investigated and was used as a good indicator for estimating the percentage of the antibodies that were successfully conjugated with the nanoparticles. The conjugation efficiency was found to increase depending on the VNP:VAB ratio, where VNP and VAB are the volumes of the nanoparticle solution (concentration of 50 ppm) and the as-purchased antibody solution, respectively. The conjugation efficiency rapidly increased from approximately 18% to approximately 70% when VNP:VAB was increased from 2:1 to 100:1, and it gradually reached the saturated state at an efficiency of 95%, as the VNP:VAB was equal to 300:1. The bioactivity of the abovementioned conjugation product (denoted by Fe3O4/Ag-antiCD34) was evaluated in an experiment for the collection of stem cells from bone marrow samples.
