RESUMO

When given to non-inbred male rats during 1, 2, and 3 months, aqueous extract from the above-ground Padus Grajana maxim parts was tested for its effects on the parameters of chemiluminescence-activated rat serum. The tested agent was found to increase he rate of rapid and slow chemiluminescence flashes. The level of steady-state glow considerably declined after the agent was given for a month; however, its longer use increased the steady-state chemiluminiscence and by the end of the 3rd month it was equal to that of control animals. Whether the activated chemiluminescence technique can be used to evaluate the effect of biologically active substances on cell structures, to refine some aspects of the mechanism of action of drugs is discussed on in terms of the findings.

RESUMO

Nitroglycerin and nitrong were shown to exert a positive action on contractility of the right ventricular myocardium and the level of pressure in the lesser circulation in high-altitude pulmonary hypertension. In the persons living temporarily in high-altitude areas it was more pronounced at a single administration of nitroglycerin and in the native inhabitants of the mountains--during course treatment with nitrong.

RESUMO

A study was made of the toxicity of etmozine injected into rats of both sexes intraperitoneally under usual conditions, into overheated rats, into rats adapted to pressure chamber hypoxia, and into rats preadapted to pressure chamber hypoxia. It was established that etmozine toxity in the overheated rats significantly lessened as compared to that in intact animals, whereas in the rats adapted to pressure chamber hypoxia and in the overheated rats preadapted to pressure chamber hypoxia, it significantly rose.

RESUMO

The effect of intraperitoneal administration of sodium hydroxybutyrate on oxidative phosphorylation in mitochondria and on the activity of glucoso-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase in the cardiac muscle was studied under alpine conditions (3200 m above the sea level). The drug was shown to increase the conjugation of oxidation with phosphorylation, to potentiate the activity of the test enzymes of the pentose cycle in the heart of the animals with one-month long adaptation to high-altitude hypoxia.
