RESUMO

A comprehensive approach was used for the first time to measure NO3- risk in tomato paste consumption; besides a robust deterministic and probabilistic method was used. The mean levels of NO3- in homemade and industrial tomato paste were 7.36 mg/kg and 43.69 mg/kg, respectively. The Monte Carlo simulation confirmed that these values were below normal levels (HQ less than 1). The sensitivity analysis displayed that FIR was the main factor affecting the risk to human health in both groups. The interactive plot demonstrated the interaction between C and IR for children and adults in both types of tomato paste. This study concludes that NO3- ingestion due to tomato paste consumption poses no significant health risk. However, considering that food and water constitute the primary sources of NO3- intake, continuous monitoring is recommended due to potential health risks associated with excessive NO3- consumption, including certain forms of cancer.

RESUMO

Disinfection of water refers to a special operation that is doing to kill or disable causative organisms (i.e. Pathogens) and in particular, intestinal bacteria. The aim of this pilot study is comparison of disinfection power of Chlorine dioxide and chlorine in a real dairy wastewater effluent. In this regard, firstly prepared two 220-l tanks made of polyethylene as reaction tanks and filled by effluent of a dairy wastewater treatment plant. Both tanks were equipped with mechanical stirrer. Then a Diaphragm dosing pumps with the maximum capacity of 3.9 l per hour were used for the chlorine dioxide and chlorine (Calcium hypochlorite) 0.5 up to 3 ppm injection. Residual level of Chlorine dioxide and Chlorine were measured by portable photometric method DT4B kit, Germany. Finally, the Multiple-Tube Fermentation, Brilliant Green Bile Broth (BGB) and Eosin methylene blue Agar (EMB) technique was used for microbial analysis and the results were reported as the most probable number index (MPN) respectively. The data showed that the residual of chlorine dioxide could stood more active than residual of chlorine in the aqueous environment significantly. Therefore, Use of chlorine dioxide is more effective than chlorine for removal fecal and total coliform from dairy wastewater effluent.

Detection of Hydrogeological and Hydro-geochemical changes affecting the quality of aquifer water is very important. The aim of this study was to determine the factor analysis of the hydro-geochemical characteristics of Iranshahr underground water resources during the warm and cool seasons. In this study, 248 samples (two-time repetitions) of ground water resources were provided at first by cluster-random sampling method during 2017 in the villages of Iranshahr city. After transferring the samples to the laboratory, concentrations of 13 important chemical parameters in those samples were determined according to o water and wastewater standard methods. The results of this study indicated that 45.45% and 55.55% of the correlation between parameters has had a significant decrease and increase, respectively with the transition from warm seasons to cold seasons. According to the factor analysis method, three factors of land hydro-geochemical processes, supplying resources by surface water and sewage as well as human activities have been identified as influential on the chemical composition of these resources.The highest growth rate of 0.37 was observed between phosphate and nitrate ions while the lowest trend of - 0.33 was seen between fluoride ion and calcium as well as chloride ions. Also, a significant increase in the correlation between magnesium ion and nitrate ion from warm seasons to cold seasons indicates the high seasonal impact of the relation between these two parameters.

Sometimes free-living nematodes in conventional water treatment processes are not eliminated and cause adverse health effects in water consumer. So, the efficiency of UV lamps (125 W) with irradiation intensity 1020 µW cm-2 on inactivation of free-living nematode Rhabditida released in water samples has been investigated along with the investigation of the effects of turbidity and change of temperature and exposure time in constant of pH 8 ±â€¯0.2. The results showed that UV radiation could disabled the larval and adult nematodes after 12 and 15 min in the presence of turbidity 5 NTU, respectively. Also, increased turbidity up to 50 NTU decreased the inactivation efficiency of larval and adult nematodes from 100% to 73% and 64%, respectively. In addition, with increased temperature, the inactivation efficiency increased significantly in a short time. The results showed a significant relationship between increasing exposure time and temperature and turbidity reduction with UV radiation efficiency in the inactivation of the nematode (P < 0.00). It was also found that the efficiency of the lamp on nematode larvae was more than the adult nematode. Therefore, UV radiation can well inactivate larvae and then adult free-living nematode Rhabditida in water.

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Water resources pollution control is one of the main challenges of our time for researchers. Colored wastewater discharges caused by textile industry activities has added to the concern. In this study, removal of Acid Orange 7 dye (AO7) using Kenya Tea residue absorbent (granular) has been studied. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2016. In this work, initially, tea residue was prepared in three forms of raw, treated with concentrated phosphoric acid, and carbonated, at temperatures of 350, 450 and 500 °C in the chemistry laboratory of Gonabad University of Medical Sciences. Then, efficiency of the above absorbents in the removal of Acid Orange 7 dye in initial concentrations of dye as 50-500 mg/l from water samples in terms of pH 2-10 and 1-10 g/l of adsorbent dose within 20 to 300 minutes was investigated. In addition, their subordination from Langmuir and Freundlich absorption isotherms was also determined. Concentration changes in Acid Orange 7 dye at a wavelength of 483 nm was determined by spectrophotometry and results were reported using descriptive statistics. RESULTS: Results showed that efficiency of Acid Orange 7 dye removal is higher in acidic pH and higher adsorbent dosage. The highest efficiency of Acid Orange 7 dye removal was 98.41% by raw tea residue absorbent at pH 2, reaction time was 120 minutes and initial concentration of dye was 50 mg/l, which was obtained at adsorbent dosage of 10 g/l. It was determined that the mechanism of absorption acceptably follows Freundlich absorption isotherm (R2=0.97). CONCLUSION: Due to the availability and very low price, optimal performance of Kenya tea raw residue (granular) in Acid Orange 7 dye removal, it can be used as an efficient surface absorber in an absorber from colored wastewater.

INTRODUCTION: Phenol and its derivatives are the most common poisonous compounds which are stable in aqueous media and lead to many health issues. In this study, application of the carbon resulted from pomegranate peel is investigated in removal of phenol by adsorption method. METHODS: to perform this cross-sectional study, first, samples of phenol with concentrations of 10 to 100 mg/L were prepared for six months in 2016. Then, the impacts of parameters such as pH, adsorbent dosage, contact time, and initial concentration of phenol in adsorption process were investigated independently in Gonabad Chemistry Lab using a spectrophotometer at 505 nm as the wavelength. Furthermore, adherence of the samples to the isotherm models of Langmuir and Freundlich was determined by Excel 2016 and descriptive statistical methods were then reported. RESULTS: The obtained results demonstrated a maximum adsorption capacity (ash) of 148.38 mgg-1 at pH 7, initial concentration of 100 mg L-1, and temperature of 23 ± 2 °C. The phenol removal rate was found to correlate directly to the adsorbent dosage and contact time, and inversely to the initial concentration of phenol. In addition, the investigations showed that the adsorption of phenol on the pomegranate peel ash follows the Freundlich model well with a correlation coefficient of R2 0.9056. CONCLUSION: Pomegranate peel ash could be used as an efficient and low-cost adsorbent for phenol removal from aqueous media.
