Cajuína is a processed drink derived from cashew and is widely consumed in the northeast region of Brazil. This study evaluated the effect of a cajuína-based hydroelectrolytic drink on the aerobic performance and hydration status of recreational runners. Seventeen males (31.9 ± 1.6 years, 51.0 ± 1.4 ml/kg/min) performed three time-to-exhaustion running sessions on a treadmill at 70% VO2max, ingesting cajuína hydroelectrolytic drink (CJ), high carbohydrate commercial hydroelectrolytic drink (CH) and mineral water (W) every 15 min during the running test. The participants ran 80.3 ± 8.4 min in CJ, 70.3 ± 6.8 min in CH and 71.8 ± 6.9 min in W, with no statistical difference between procedures. Nevertheless, an effect size of η2 = 0.10 (moderate) was observed. No statistical difference was observed in the concentrations of sodium, potassium, and osmolality in both serum and urine between the three conditions. However, the effect size was moderate (urine sodium) and high (serum sodium, potassium, and osmolality). Urine specific gravity, sweating rate and heart rate were not significantly different between drinks. The cajuína-based hydroelectrolytic drink promotes similar effects compared to commercial hydroelectrolytic drink and water, considering specific urine gravity, heart rate, sweating, and time to exhaustion in recreational runners.
RESUMO
Objective: to verify the frequency of cellular alterations of the female genital tract of women assisted by a public clinical laboratory in Teresina Piaui in 2016, as well as to evaluate the relation between patients' education levels and the frequency of atypia found. Methodology: data from the 9040 forms of cervical-vaginal oncocytology (SUS standard) from the 2016 year were collected. Results: 9040 reports were analyzed, among which 8,095 (89.55%) had negative and 945 (10.45%) were positive to oncologic abnormalities. It was identified squamous cells of indeterminate significance with 5.84%, low-grade intraepithelial lesions (LSIL) with 1,97%, high-grade intraepithelial lesions (HSIL) 1.33%, glandular cell atypia (ACG) with 1.25% and invasive squamous cell carcinoma 0.06%. Regarding the level of schooling, women who attended elementary and high school corresponded to the higher percentage of patients. Conclusion: it is concluded that the incidence of atypia was considerably higher than described in the previous literature. Thus, it is recommended the adoption of strategies to improve the adherence and the awareness of the population regarding the necessity of this exam.
Objetivo: verificar a frequência das alterações celulares do trato genital feminino que acometeram mulheres atendidas no ano de 2016 em um laboratório clínico público em Teresina-PI, avaliar a frequência dos níveis de escolaridade das pacientes e correlacionar com a frequência das atipias encontradas. Metodologia: os dados foram coletados a partir das fichas de requisição de exame citopatológico do colo do útero (padrão SUS), referentes ao ano de 2016. Resultados: dos 9040 laudos analisados, 8.095 (89,55%), tiveram citologia negativa para as alterações oncológicas e 945 (10,45%) foram positivos. Estes ficaram assim distribuídos: células escamosas de significado indeterminados com 5,84%, as lesões intra-epiteliais de baixo grau (LSIL) com 1,97%, lesões intra-epiteliais de alto grau (HSIL) com 1,33%, atipias de significado indeterminado em células glandulares (ACG) com 1,25% e carcinoma epidermóide invasor com 0,06%. No que se refere ao grau de escolaridade, maior frequência foi observada entre pacientes que frequentaram o ensino fundamental e médio. Conclusão: os resultados permitiram concluir que a incidência das atipias foi muito além das observadas na literatura. Para equacionar esse problema, o país deve adotar estratégias que visem a adesão e a conscientização da população sobre a necessidade do exame.

PURPOSE: To investigate the effect of Cenostigma macrophyllum Tul. in the tissue repair process of skin lesions in rats with induced Diabetes mellitus. METHODS: Sixty-three male Wistar rats were distributed into three groups: control (C), diabetic (D), and diabetic treated with an oil-in-water emulsion of the plant (DPL) subdivided according to time of observation (seven, 14, and 28 days). Diabetes was induced by administration of by injection of streptozotocin (50 mg/kg, after a 12-h fast) into the penile vein and confirmed by glucose levels exceeding 240 mg/dL. Held surgical lesion (2.5 cm in diameter) on the back of the animals. The DPL received topical application of group of the oil-in-water emulsion plant (0.5ml). To evaluate the levels of nitric oxide, was collected 5ml of blood from the abdominal aorta, after his euthanasia. The samples of interest were sent for routine histological processing. RESULTS:A reduction in the percentage of inflammatory cells and increased numbers of fibroblasts in the group DPL, seven days, compared to the other groups. At 14 days, the DPL group also showed a higher concentration of nitric oxide (p<0.01) than in groups C and D. CONCLUSION: The oil-in-water emulsion of C. macrophyllum Tul accelerated wound healing in diabetic rats.(AU)
