[The heart rate variability in the acute lacunar cerebral infarct].

Clinical-electrophysiological investigation has been performed in 30 patients with acute lacunar cerebral infarct. Patients with atrial fibrillation, severe extrasystole weren't included to the study. The control group includes 7 health volunteers. EKG registration within 5 minutes with time domain, frequency domain analysis have been made. Brain attack on the type of lacunar IS associates with evident HRV disturbances. Centralization of the heart rate autonomic control, caused by suprasegmental part of the vegetative nervous system hyperactivity occurs against a background relative sympaticothonia and decrease of parasympathetic nervous system. In case of right carotid stroke there is significant lowering of standard deviation of the RR intervals (p=0,024), triangular index (p<0,001), total power (p=0,016), increase of mode of the histogram distribution of RR intervals (p=0,002) and the proportion derived by the number of RR intervals, that match the value of mode (p=0,001).

[Organization of the treatment of patients with neurological manifestations of lumbar osteochondrosis]. / Organizatsiia lecheniia bol'nykh s nevrologicheskimi proiavleniiami poiasnichnogo osteokhondroza.

Recommendations are given for staged treatment of lumbar osteochondrosis with neurological symptoms. The scope of therapeutic measures is specified for treatment stations (stage I), neurological aid at outpatient clinics (stage II), neurological departments of a hospital (stage III), aftertreatment department (stage IV), day hospital (stage V) and sanatorium (stage VI). The experience is presented gained in Byelorussian SSR in the treatment of patients with vertebrogenic disturbances of the peripheral nervous system.

[Features of the distribution of HLA antigens in patients with neurologic manifestations of lumbar osteochondrosis]. / Osobennosti raspredeleniia antigenov HLA u bol'nykh s nevrologicheskimi proiavleniiami poiasnichnogo osteokhondroza.

Examinations of the HLA antigens (A and B loci) distribution in patients with neurologic manifestations of lumbar osteochondrosis (NMLO) has revealed a statistically more rare incidence of A11 antigens and a more frequent one, of B7 and B18 ones. A different distribution of the antigens in cases with the major clinical forms of lumbar osteochondrosis was noted. Patients with discogenic lumbosacral radiculitis differed from normal subjects by the same antigens as all NMLO patients. For patients with lumbar ischialgia increased concentrations of B7 and B18 antigens were characteristic, whereas in radicular ischialgias A11 and B15 antigens were less incident and B40 one, more incident. The findings confirm the polygenic nature of hereditary predisposition to NMLO.

[Compression-ischemic peroneal neuropathy (Guillain-de Sèze-de Blondin-Walter syndrome)]. / Kompressionno-ishemicheskie peroneal'nye nevropatii (sindrom Giiena-de Seza-de Blondena-Val'tera).

Fifty-two cases of Guillain-Seze-de Blondin-Walter syndrome are analyzed. The causes of selective sensitivity of peroneal nerves to the impact of various damaging factors are discussed. It is emphasized that along with factors of compression and ischemia, a considerable role is played by topographo-anatomical and histological characteristics of peroneal nerves and by the peculiarities of their evolutional-phylogenetic development.

[Role of various endocrine glands in the pathogenesis of the neurologic symptoms of lumbar osteochondrosis]. / O roli nekotorykh éndokrinnykh zhelez v patogeneze nevrologicheskikh simptomov poiasnichnogo osteokhondroza.

Parathyroid hormone, thyrocalciotonin, testosterone, estradiol, aldosterone and renin activity of the blood plasma were radioimmunoassayed in 142 patients with neurological manifestations of lumbar osteochondritis. The blood levels of parathyroid hormone and, to a lesser degree, those of thyrocalciotonin were elevated. The levels depended on the severity and duration of the pain syndrome while thyrocalciotonin excretion depended on the degree of the degenerative dystrophic process in the spinal column. Prolonged pain syndrome was associated with an inhibited function of the gonads and the mineralocorticoid layer of the adrenals. A hypothesis is advanced, which explains the participation of the endocrine glands in the etiopathogenesis of lumbar osteochondritis and its neurological manifestations.

[Importance of a screening system in the prevention of diseases of the lumbosacral division of the peripheral nervous system]. / Znachenie skrining-sistemy dlia profilaktiki zabolevanii poiasnichno-krestsovogo otdela perifericheskoi nervnoi sistemy.

An automated screening system for prophylactic examinations is offered. The system enables one to reveal early compensated forms of lumbar osteochondrosis, as well as persons with an increased risk of that disease. The system is based on a statistical analysis of the lumbar osteochondrosis risk factors revealed in a particular individual, and involves the use of a computer. The practical use of this system at large industrial plants has made it possible to reveal potential patients to whom individual therapeutic and prophylactic complexes were administered. It is shown that the size of the risk groups in workshops depends on the character of the production operations performed and on the working conditions, the correlates with the prevalence of the disease in each particular collective body.

[Study of the mechanism of action of tegretol in experimental allergic encephalomyelitis]. / Izuchenie mekhanizma deistviia tegretola pri éksperimental'nom allergicheskom éntsefalomielite

Less pronounced intensity of extrapyramidal hyperkineses and aggravation of motor disturbances in patients with diffuse sclerosis occurring under the effect of tegretol prompted the authors to study the action of this drug on the course of experimental allergic encephalomyelitis. Daily administration of tegretol in a dose of 375 mg/kg retarded the development of the affection and produced a marked adynamia in the animals. Slowing down of the dominant rhythm and depression of its amplitude were recorded on the EEG. Shifts in the potassium and sodium content and reduced brain cholesterase activity were noted. The authors ascribe these changes to a mediated action of tegretol upon deep-seated cerebral structures.
