RESUMO

The study sampling included 46 patients operated on the occasion of acute surgical pathology of abdominal organs. The concentration of procalcitonin was analyzed at 2-3 days after operation in simultaneously obtained samples of blood serum and exudation of small intestine. The level of procalcitonin was analyzed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay with test-systems with sensitivity 0.01 ng/ml. The concentration of procalcitonin in content of small intestine was lower than in blood serum (p<0.001) and in most samples of enteric exudation (n=33) did not exceed 0.01 ng/ml. The analysis of correlation interdependences established that concentration of procalcitonin in intestinal exudation has no dependencies with its level in blood serum. The admixture of blood as a result of traumatization of mucous membrane under application of naso-jejunal probe is one of main causes of occurrence of procalcitonin in content of intestine.

RESUMO

The study was carried out to evaluate concentration of malonic dialdehyde and activity of glutathione peroxidase in blood serum in their relationship with biochemical tests of functional conditions of liver; data of fibroelastography and polymorphism of gene GPX4 (718C/T) in patients with chronic hepatitis C. The sampling consisted of 100 patients with chronic hepatitis C. The control group included 80 healthy donors. The polymorphism of gene of glutathione peroxidase was analyzed with CFX-96 (Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc., USA) amplifier using technique of polymerase chain reaction ("Sintol", Moscow). In patients with chronic hepatitis C a reliable increasing of concentration of malonic dialdehyde up to 3.2 times and decreasing of glutathione peroxidase up to 2.8 times was detected as compared with control group. The significant differences in rates of genotypes and alleles of gene GPX4 (718C/T) in patients with chronic hepatitis C and healthy persons were not detected. The malonic dialdehyde demonstrated direct reliable relationships with functional hepatic tests by activity of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase and γ-glutamyl transferase. The activity of glutathione peroxidase had reverse reliable correlations with alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase and γ-glutamyl transferase (p=0.001, p=0.007, p=0.032) and with indicator of elasticity of liver according data of fibroelastography (r=-0.285, p=0.041) The minor allele T of gene GPX4 ()718C/T) reliably correlated with alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase and malonic dialdehyde. The reverse relationship between allele T of gene GPX4 ()718C/T) and activity of glutathione peroxidase (r=-0.196, p=0.041) was established This occurrence indicates at negative effect of mutation in gene of glutathione peroxidase on functional activity of this enzyme. Under chronic hepatitis C, the activation of peroxidation of lipids and depression of activity of glutathione peroxidase are interrelated with severity of cytolysis, cholestasis, expression of hepatic fibrosis and polymorphism of gene GPX4 ()718C/T). Therefore, polymorphism of gene of glutathione peroxidase predisposes to more severe affection of liver and progression of chronic hepatitis C.

RESUMO

The article deals with study of the impact of standardization of blood smears preparation on effectiveness of functioning of Vision Hema system. The analysis was applied to the results of counting of 200 leukocytes in 30 blood smears prepared from venous blood stabilized with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid using thoroughly degreased slide plates and applying automatic device to prepare blood smears (comparative group) and in 49 preparations prepared manually from non-stabilized capillary blood (control group). The standardization of the procedure of preparation of glass samples resulted in five time decrease of total amount of artifacts and in disappearance of thrombocytes aggregates and pavement epithelium cells. The absolute amount of destroyed leukocytes decreased in 2.4 times and particles of dirt in 9.5 time. The proposed technique of preparation of smear increased velocity of automatic analysis of leukogram by the Vision Hema system in 2 times and speeded up validation by physician of derived results in 3 times.

RESUMO

Chemiluminescence analysis (CA) was made for different biological fluids in 50 patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Intensified chemiluminescence of erythrocytes, blood serum, urine and tear is indicative of an enhanced free-radical oxidation in diabetes mellitus. CA of biological fluids made in DM patients reflects a disease severity. The study results confirm the need to add antioxidants to the treatment course of DM patients.

RESUMO

Analysis of the lacrimal fluid was carried out for the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus in 68 patients. Collection of tears is absolutely painless, atraumatic, and involves virtually no risk of viral infections. Analysis of the lacrimal fluid is particularly valuable for repeated analyses over the course of disease. A method for postmortem diagnosis of diabetes mellitus and hyperglycemic coma by measuring glucose in the vitreous body is suggested. The content of glucose in the vitreous higher than 17 mmol/liter is a specific marker indicating death from hyperglycemic coma.

RESUMO

The late outcomes of continuous endocardial pacing surgery were studied in 34 patients when various approaches were used to fix a proximal endocardial electrode. When fixed to a vein or its adjacent tissues, the electrode remained to be stable while raising hands. When fixed to the cephalic vein, this procedure was accompanied by the displacement of the endocardial electrode and the appearance of X-ray signs of electrode instability. The new procedure for fixing the proximal electrode contributes to the stability preservation of the intracardiac part of an endocardial electrode.
