RESUMO

A vector optical field with inhomogeneous spatial polarization distribution offers what we believe to be a new paradigm to form controllable filaments. However, it is challenging to steer multiple performances (e.g. number, orientation, and interval) of filaments in transparent nonlinear media at one time. Herein, we theoretically self-design and generate a kind of believed to be novel ellipticity and orientation co-variant vector optical field to interact with Kerr medium to solve this issue. The collapsing behaviors of such a new hybrid vector optical field reveal that, by judiciously adjusting the inherent topological charge and initial phase of incident optical field, we are able to give access to stable collapsing filamentation with tunable numbers, orientations and interval. Additionally, the collapsing patterns presented are immune nearly to the extra random noise. The relevant mechanism behind the collapse of the vector optical field is elucidated as well. The findings in this work may have huge potential in optical signal processing, laser machining, and other related applications.

RESUMO

Holographic 3D display is highly desirable for numerous applications ranging from medical treatments to military affairs. However, it is challenging to simultaneously achieve large viewing angle and high-fidelity color reconstruction due to the intractable constraints of existing technology. Here, we conceptually propose and experimentally demonstrate a simple and feasible pathway of using a well-designed color liquid crystal grating to overcome the inevitable chromatic aberration and enlarge the holographic viewing angle, thus enabling large-viewing-angle and color holographic 3D display. The use of color liquid crystal grating allows performing secondary diffraction modulation on red, green and blue reproduced images simultaneously and extending the viewing angle in the holographic 3D display system. In principle, a chromatic aberration-free hologram generation mechanism in combination with the color liquid crystal grating is proposed to pave the way for on such a superior holographic 3D display. The proposed system shows a color viewing angle of ~50.12°, which is about 7 times that of the traditional system with a single spatial light modulator. This work presents a paradigm for achieving desirable holographic 3D display, and is expected to provide a new way for the wide application of holographic display.

RESUMO

This study aims to demonstrate current research priorities and predict future trends in the link between kidney disease and gut microbiota by means of scientometric analysis. We collected nearly 20 years (2001-2020) of publications related to kidney disease and gut microbiota in the Web of Science database. CiteSpace was used to evaluate the knowledge mapping. There are 965 manuscripts about kidney disease and gut microbiota in total, and faster growth after 2016. The country, institution, and author who posted the most are the USA, Univ Calif Irvine, and DENISE MAFRA, respectively. The frequencies are 109, 16, and 17. The most important of them are FRANCE (0.23), Fed Univ Parana UFPR (0.13), and VAZIRI ND (1.14), owing to their highest centrality. In addition, the cited documents that have contributed the most to the co-citations are Wong J (2014); the most key cited reference is Rossi M (2016); the most commonly used keywords are chronic kidney disease, gut microbiota and indoxyl sulfate. Through scientometric analysis of the past 20 years, we obtained the knowledge map of this information, which has important guiding significance for accurately and quickly locating trends in this field.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the pressure pain threshold (PPT), skin conductance (SC) and blood perfusion (BP) of the sensitized acupoints in patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA), and explore the mechanism of acupuncture at the sensitized acupoints for treating diseases. METHODS: Eleven healthy subjects and 11 unilateral KOA patients were recruited from July 2020 to March 2021 in this study. The PPT, SC and BP of control acupoints in healthy controls, and non-sensitized and sensitized acupoints in KOA patients were measured and compared between baseline and after manual acupuncture (MA) treatment. RESULTS: Before MA treatment, lower PPT was observed at the sensitized acupoints compared with non-sensitized and control acupoints (P<0.05). After MA treatment, PPT at the sensitized acupoints increased significantly in KOA patients (P<0.05). Before MA treatment, there was no statistical difference in SC and BP among control, non-sensitized and sensitized acupoints (P>0.05). Compared with the control and non-sensitized acupoints, there were significant increases of SC and BP in sensitized acupoints of KOA patients after MA treatment (P<0.05 or P<0.01). CONCLUSION: MA at sensitized acupoints could elevate PPT of KOA patients, which may be associated with the increment of SC and BP.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) is an effective method of postoperative pain, there have been many studies performed that have compared the efficacy of hydromorphone with continuous sufentanil. The purpose of this systematic review is to compare the efficacy and safety of hydromorphone and sufentanil. METHODS: Seven databases were searched for controlled trials to compare the efficacy and safety of hydromorphone and sufentanil. After selecting the studies, extracting the data, and assessing study quality, the meta-analysis was performed on several of the studies with RevMan 5.3. RESULTS: Thirteen studies comprised of 812 patients were found. The pain intensity of the hydromorphone group was significantly lower than that of the sufentanil group at 12 hours. With no statistical difference at 24 to 48 hours (MD12 = -1.52, 95% CI [-2.13, -1.97], P <.05). The sedation intensity of the hydromorphone group at 12, 24, and 48 hours were lower than those of the sufentanil group, with no statistical difference (MD12 = -0.03, 95% CI [-0.18, 0.12], P > .05; MD24 = -0.20, 95% CI [-0.42, 0.03], P > .05; MD48 = -0.03, 95% CI [-0.18, 0.11)], P > .05). The PCA requests in the hydromorphone group were less than that in the sufentanil group, and there was no significant difference (RR = -0.20, 95% CI [-1.93,1.53], P > .05). The incidence of adverse events in the hydromorphone group was less than that in the sufentanil group, and there was a statistical difference: (RR = 0.61, 95% CI [0.47,0.79], P < .05). CONCLUSION: Compared with sufentanil, PCA with hydromorphone was more effective in relieving pain and PCA requests 12, 24, and 48 hours after operation, and significantly reduced the incidence of adverse events, but it did not have an advantage in sedation intensity.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether the mammographic features were different between breast cancer HER2-enriched molecular subtype and non-HER2-enriched molecular subtype. METHODS: 283 microcalcification-associated breast cancers were identified (HER2-enriched: n = 57; non-HER2-enriched: n = 226). Mammographic tumor mass and calcification features in relation to HER2 molecular subtype were analyzed. RESULTS: On univariate analysis, HER2-enriched molecular subtype rates were significantly higher (a) in tumor size ≤2 cm [33 of 57 (57.9%)] than in tumor size >2 cm lesions [22 of 226 (9.7%)] (p = 0.007), (b) in non-spiculated mass [39 of 57 (68.4%)] than in spiculated mass lesions [18 of 226 (7.9%)] (p = 0.034),(c) in calcifications extent >2 cm [41 of 57 (71.9%)] lesions than in calcifications extent ≤2 cm lesions [16 of 226 (7.1%)] (p < 0.001) and (d) in calcification density >20 cm-2 [44 of 57 (71.2%)] lesions than in calcification density ≤20 cm-2 lesions [13 of 226 (5.8%)] (p = 0.034).On multivariate analysis, three mammographic features [tumor size >2 cm vs size ≤2 cm odds ratio (OR): 0.415 95% confidence interval (CI) (0.215 to 0.802), p = 0.009, spiculated mass vs non-spiculated mass OR: 0.226 95% CI (0.114 to 0.446), p < 0.001 and calcifications extent >2 cm vs calcifications extent ≤2 cm OR: 7.754, 95% CI (3.100 to 19.339) p< 0.001] were independent predictors. Our results indicated that small tumor size, non-spiculated mass and calcification extent >2 cm are more likely to be HER2 molecular subtype. The discrimination of this model, as quantified by the area under the curve, was 0.751 [95% CI (0.701 to 0.854)]. CONCLUSION: Our study presents a prediction model that incorporates the mammographic features of tumor size, non-spiculated mass and calcification extent, which can potentially be used to preoperative predict breast cancer HER2-enriched subtype. ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: Mammographic features can noninvasively visualize breast tumor phenotype characteristics.

RESUMO

Background: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) represent a class of broad and diversified endogenous RNAs that regulate gene expressions in eukaryotes. Hsa_circ_006675 has been proven as an important circRNA molecule in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), however, its function still remains elusive. This study aims to discuss the biofunctions of hsa_circ_0066755 in NPC. Methods: We detected the expression levels of hsa_circ_0066755 in NPC patients by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), and the corresponding ROC curves were plotted. Functional experiments including CCK-8, colony formation, Transwell assay and Xenograft experiment were conducted. Bioinformatics analysis was performed to seek miRNAs which might have binding sites with hsa_circ_0066755. Luciferase reporter assays were finally carried out to verify the binding sites. Results: We found significant increases of hsa_circ_0066755 in the plasma and tissues of the patients. Moreover, its levels were positively correlated with clinical staging (P=0.019). The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis showed that the area under the curves (AUCs) of tissue and plasma hsa_circ_0066755 for distinguishing NPC from non-cancerous controls were 0.8537 and 0.9044, respectively. Both tissue and plasma hsa_circ_0066755 testing presented a comparable diagnostic accuracy to the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Our in-vitro experiment showed that the overexpression of hsa_circ_0066755 facilitated the growth, proliferation, clone formation, invasion and migration of CNE-1 NPC cells, while its down-regulation showed completely opposite effects. The xenograft experiment showed that exogenous hsa_circ_0066755 could significantly enhance the in-vivo tumorigenic ability of CNE-1 cells. Rescue assay further confirmed hsa_circ_0066755 as a tumor facilitator by sponging miR-651. Conclusions: Collectively, this study reported for the first time that hsa_circ_0066755 played a role of oncogene in NPC and could be used as an effective diagnostic marker for NPC, and that hsa_circ_0066755 / miR-651 axis also involved in the progression of NPC.

RESUMO

In this paper, a liquid refractive index (LRI) measurement system based on an electrowetting lens was proposed. The system is composed of a light source, a collimating lens, a liquid measurement chamber (LMC), an electrowetting lens and an image sensor, which is integrated into a cylindrical cavity. The refractive index of the LMC changes with the addition of the measured liquid, and the incident light cannot be focused on the image plane. By adjusting the driving voltage of the electrowetting lens, the curvature of the liquid-liquid interface changes to focus the incident light onto the image plane. The refractive index of the liquid could be measured according to the voltage value. The proposed LRI measurement system has no mechanical moving parts, and the imaging surface remains stationary, which can make the measurement simply and correctly. The experiments show that the refractive index measurement range of the system can be turned from ~1.3300 to ~1.4040, and the measurement accuracy is 10-4. The system can be used to measure the optical properties of liquids and has broad potential applications in chemical reagent detection and pharmaceutical testing.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study is to determine 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH) D] levels in serum, and investigate their associations with cardiovascular disease (CVD) or all-cause mortality in a 1-year follow-up study in patients with first-ever ischemic stroke. METHODS: From November 2013 to October 2015, 387 consecutive patients with ischemic stroke admitted to our hospital were identified. Serum 25(OH) D levels were measured at admission. Infarct volume was measured using diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI). The primary end point was CVD mortality among 1year. The secondary end point was all-cause mortality. RESULTS: In this study, 387 patients were included. A statistically significant negative correlation between serum 25(OH) D level and infarct volume was found (r=-0.442; P<0.001). There were 74 patients (19.1%, 95%CI: 15.2%-23.0%) died, including 36 CVD mortality (9.3%, 95CI%: 6.4%-12.2%). The mortality distribution across the 25(OH) D quartiles ranged between 39.2% (first quartile) to 5.2% (fourth quartile) for all-cause mortality and between 18.6% (first quartile) to 2.1% (fourth quartile) for CVD mortality. In a multivariate model using the first quartiles of 25(OH) D vs. quartiles 2 through 4 together with the clinical variables, the marker displayed prognostic information CVD mortality: OR for first quartile, 3.06 [95% CI, 2.16-4.95]; all-cause mortality: OR for first quartile, 2.76 [95% CI, 2.01-4.32]. CONCLUSIONS: The data show serum levels of 25(OH) D at admission is useful prognostic marker of CVD and all-cause mortality in Chinese patients with ischemic stroke.

RESUMO

We demonstrate an all-optical strategy for realizing spherical three-dimensional (3D) super-resolution (∼λ3/22) spot arrays of pure longitudinal magnetization by exploiting a 4π optical microscopic setup with two high numerical aperture (NA) objective lenses, which focus and interfere two modulated vectorial beams. Multiple phase filters (MPFs) are designed via an analytical approach derived from the vectorial Debye diffraction theory to modulate the two circularly polarized beams. The system is tailored to constructively interfere the longitudinal magnetization components, while simultaneously destructively interfering the azimuthal ones. As a result, the magnetization field is not only purely longitudinal but also super-resolved in all three dimensions. Furthermore, the MPFs can be designed analytically to control the number and locations of the super-resolved magnetization spots to produce both uniform and nonuniform arrays in a 3D volume. Thus, an all-optical control of all the properties of light-induced magnetization spot arrays has been demonstrated for the first time. These results open up broad applications in magnetic-optical devices such as confocal and multifocal magnetic resonance microscopy, 3D ultrahigh-density magneto-optic memory, and light-induced magneto-lithography.
