AIMS: Sexual harassment is common and may have serious consequences for well-being and health. We investigated the prevalence of sexual harassment in the general population of Stockholm County across socio-demographic groups and sexual identity, and its association with self-reported health. METHODS: Experiences of sexual harassment in the previous 12 months and its associations with self-reported health (depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation) were assessed in 2021/2022 among a random sample of 22,890 residents in Stockholm County aged 16 and older. Analyses were done using descriptive statistics and multivariate logistic regression (odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals (CI)). Calibration weights were used to estimate population-representative rates with 95% CI. RESULTS: The highest weighted prevalence was observed among 16- to 24-year-olds (18.9%, 95% CI 16.9%-20.9%). Women (9.5%; 95% CI 8.8%-10.1%) reported a higher prevalence than men (2.9%; 95% CI 2.5%-3.3%). Compared to heterosexual people, bisexual and homosexual people reported a higher prevalence of sexual harassment. No significant difference was observed related to country of birth. People who were students, unemployed or on sick leave were more exposed than employed people, although this was not significant when adjusted for age and registered sex. Experiences of sexual harassment was associated with higher odds of all aspects of self-reported health. CONCLUSIONS: Experiences of sexual harassment in the general population are common and associated with adverse self-reported health. There is a need for enhanced efforts to prevent sexual harassment in the general population and to empower specific risk groups such as women and sexual minorities.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to assess long-term follow-up after chemoresection with mitomycin (MMC), a nonsurgical treatment modality for recurrent nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). At the time of recurrence, chemoresection has previously been shown to reduce the number of patients requiring a procedure (transurethral resection of bladder tumors [TURBT] or office biopsy) by more than 50%. This study investigated the number of patients requiring a procedure during initial treatment and 2-year follow-up in patients treated with short-term, intensive chemoresection with MMC compared with patients undergoing standard surgical treatment of recurrent NMIBC. METHODS: A randomized, controlled trial was conducted in two urological departments in Denmark from January 2018 to August 2021. In total, 120 patients with a history of Ta low- or high-grade NMIBC were included upon recurrence. The intervention group received intravesical MMC (40 mg/40 mL) three times a week for 2 weeks and TURBT or office biopsy only if the response was incomplete. The control group received TURBT or office biopsy and 6 weekly adjuvant instillations. The primary outcome was the number of patients undergoing a procedure within 2 years from inclusion, which was compared between groups using the chi-squared test. Recurrence-free survival was analyzed using the Kaplan-Meier method. RESULTS: Significantly fewer patients were in need of a procedure in the intervention group than in the control group: 71% (95% CI, 57 to 81) and 100% (95% CI, 94 to 100), P < .001. The 12-month recurrence-free survival was 36% (95% CI, 24 to 50) and 43% (95% CI, 30 to 56) in the intervention and control groups, respectively (P = .5). CONCLUSION: Short-term intensive chemoresection is an effective treatment strategy for recurrent NMIBC that leads to a reduced number of required procedures without compromising long-term oncological safety.

BACKGROUND: Presence of lymph node metastases (LNM) is an important prognostic factor for cancer-specific survival (CSS) in patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC). In various neoplasms, 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography with computed tomography (FDG-PET/CT) is an established modality for preoperative lymph node (LN) staging. In UTUC, the diagnostic value of FDG-PET/CT for LN staging is unknown. OBJECTIVE: To determine the diagnostic value of FDG-PET/CT for LN staging in patients with UTUC. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: Data of 152 patients with UTUC who underwent FDG-PET/CT followed by surgical treatment in eight centers between 2007 and 2017 were retrospectively collected. Patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy were excluded. OUTCOME MEASUREMENTS AND STATISTICAL ANALYSIS: FDG-PET/CT results were compared with histopathology after lymph node dissection (LND). Recurrence-free survival (RFS), CSS, and overall survival (OS) were analyzed using Kaplan-Meier estimates, and compared for patients with and without suspicious LNs on FDG-PET/CT. RESULTS AND LIMITATIONS: We included 117 patients, of whom 62 underwent LND. Seventeen patients had LNM at histopathological evaluation. Sensitivity and specificity of FDG-PET/CT for diagnosis of LNM were 82% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 57-96) and 84% (95% CI: 71-94), respectively. RFS was significantly worse in patients with LN-positive FDG-PET/CT than in those with LN-negative FDG-PET/CT (p=0.03). CSS (p=0.11) and OS (p=0.5) were similar between groups. This study is limited by its retrospective design and by its sample size. Our results warrant further validation. CONCLUSIONS: FDG-PET/CT has 82% sensitivity and 84% specificity for the detection of LNM in patients with UTUC. Presence of suspicious LNs on FDG-PET/CT is associated with worse RFS. PATIENT SUMMARY: In patients with upper tract urothelial cancer, positron emission tomography with computed tomography (PET/CT) scans can detect lymph node metastases with noteworthy accuracy. Presence of suspicious lymph nodes on 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose PET/CT is associated with worse recurrence-free survival.

BACKGROUND: Most agriculturally important legumes fall within two sub-clades of the Papilionoid legumes: the Phaseoloids and Galegoids, which diverged about 50 Mya. The Phaseoloids are mostly tropical and include crops such as common bean and soybean. The Galegoids are mostly temperate and include clover, fava bean and the model legumes Lotus and Medicago (both with substantially sequenced genomes). In contrast, peanut (Arachis hypogaea) falls in the Dalbergioid clade which is more basal in its divergence within the Papilionoids. The aim of this work was to integrate the genetic map of Arachis with Lotus and Medicago and improve our understanding of the Arachis genome and legume genomes in general. To do this we placed on the Arachis map, comparative anchor markers defined using a previously described bioinformatics pipeline. Also we investigated the possible role of transposons in the patterns of synteny that were observed. RESULTS: The Arachis genetic map was substantially aligned with Lotus and Medicago with most synteny blocks presenting a single main affinity to each genome. This indicates that the last common whole genome duplication within the Papilionoid legumes predated the divergence of Arachis from the Galegoids and Phaseoloids sufficiently that the common ancestral genome was substantially diploidized. The Arachis and model legume genomes comparison made here, together with a previously published comparison of Lotus and Medicago allowed all possible Arachis-Lotus-Medicago species by species comparisons to be made and genome syntenies observed. Distinct conserved synteny blocks and non-conserved regions were present in all genome comparisons, implying that certain legume genomic regions are consistently more stable during evolution than others. We found that in Medicago and possibly also in Lotus, retrotransposons tend to be more frequent in the variable regions. Furthermore, while these variable regions generally have lower densities of single copy genes than the more conserved regions, some harbor high densities of the fast evolving disease resistance genes. CONCLUSION: We suggest that gene space in Papilionoids may be divided into two broadly defined components: more conserved regions which tend to have low retrotransposon densities and are relatively stable during evolution; and variable regions that tend to have high retrotransposon densities, and whose frequent restructuring may fuel the evolution of some gene families.
