RESUMO

TBA-reactive products were measured in the brain, liver, and heart of Wistar rats in control conditions and after 24 h immobilization. Animals were subjected to the open field test before and after the immobilization. Behavior patterns, gastric mucosa alterations and MDA accumulation in organs suggested that immobilization as well as food and water deprivation were all strong stressor stimuli. Initial open field behavior characteristics were significantly correlated with MDA contents in various tissues under emotional stress.

RESUMO

The dynamics of changes in myocardial contractility and pressure in the left ventricle of the heart and the femoral artery were studied in rabbits before and after intravenous infusion of 2 mg/kg endotoxin. The left ventricle was catheterized. The signal from the left-ventricular pressure transducer was fed into a microcomputer after analog-digital conversion for calculating the maximal rate of increase in intraventricular pressure. All the parameters studied began decreasing as early as the 5th minute after endotoxin administration. A statistically significant decrease (p less than 0.05) of the heart rate was recorded first on the 30th minute, than the left-ventricular pressure and maximal rate of intraventricular pressure increase took place on the 45th minute, and systolic and diastolic pressure in the femoral artery decreased on the 60th minute. The detected disorders of myocardial contractility provoke the appearance of hypotension the main role in the development of which is played by damage to the peripheral vascular network.

RESUMO

Body surface determination in rabbits is essential for carrying out biological experiments with these animals in burn shock, and in hemorrhagic, endotoxic and other types of shock as well. In the experiments described a nomogram is suggested after processing data from the measurement of a variety of body parts in 100 unbred rabbits, enabling polynominal regression analysis on the basis of which a nomogram is worked out. The nomogram outlines the dependence of body surface in case of known body weight of the rabbit. In the work are submitted the values for the trunk, head, fore and hind limbs of rabbits which values greatly facilitate the investigator in carrying out experiments on individual body parts. All data are submitted in relative values and in percentage of the total body surface.

RESUMO

Our research showed in the endotoxic shock no fundamental and durable changes with reference to oxygen partial pressure and oxyhemoglobin saturation of the arterial blood within the first two hours. On the other hand the oxygen contents of the arterial blood decreased progressively in connection with the progressive decrease of hemoglobin. In detail the arterial oxygen partial pressure decreased within the first 30 minutes after the endotoxin injection and normalized itself by the sixtieth minute, afterwards it remained stationary. Statistically significant divergences of the oxyhemoglobin saturation were not existing during the whole examination. The oxygen contents of the blood decreased progressively in consequence of lower hemoglobin values.
