RESUMO

The results of the study of the effectiveness of using vaccine Vaxigrip for the prophylaxis of influenza in organized groups of adults are presented. The vaccine was found to have high epidemiological effectiveness (the epidemiological index was 2.6), moderate reactogenicity and pronounced immunological activity (the protection level was 89.0-100.0%). The vaccine may be recommended for the prophylaxis of influenza among adults.

RESUMO

The frequency of the detection of tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) virus antigens, carried out by the method of fluorescent antibodies with the use of erythrocytic immunosorbent, in the blood of persons bitten by virus-carrying ticks, but with no signs of the clinical manifestation of the infection changed from 5.7 +/- 2.4% to 13.8% of cases with different time elapsed after infection, constituting, on the average, 8.5 +/- 1.4%. The detection of the antigen in the examination of patients varied from 35.8 +/- 6.6% to 45.4 +/- 10.6%, the average figure being 39.8 +/- 3.9%. Antigenemia was more frequently detected after infection by virulent TBE virus than after infection by a low-virulent strain of the virus. The frequency of the detection of specific immune complexes in cases of the asymptomatic course of this infection (28.8 +/- 6.7%) was somewhat lower than in TBE patients (36.0 +/- 3.0%). But the difference between these figures was not significant (p > 0.1), which was probably indicative of the relatively weak formation of specific immune complexes in cases of clinical manifestations of TBE in spite of considerable antigenemia in TBE patients and their sufficiently active formation in the asymptomatic course of the disease.

RESUMO

The work on the evaluation of the role of rubella infection in the development of congenital malformations in newborn infants, as well as the immunogenic activity and tolerability of live attenuated vaccine Rudivax (Pasteur Mérieux Connaught) was carried out in the process of selective immunization in the Perm region. The study made it possible to find out 15% of malformations in the structure of the congenital pathology of newborn infants, which appeared due to the infection of the fetus with rubella virus and were manifested by multiple development defects, congenital C.N.S. defects and valvular defects. The results of using vaccine Rudivax in the epidemiological trial demonstrated that the vaccine had high immunological activity and was well tolerated. The absence of postvaccinal complications after the injection of the live vaccine and the absence of the extinction of immunity in the presence antibodies were indicative of the possibility vaccination without preliminary serological examination.

RESUMO

The retrospective epidemiological analysis of rubella morbidity in Perm has revealed that the epidemic process of rubella is revived every 2-3 years in winter and spring. Children of preschool age in organized groups are mainly affected; 42.5% of these children have no specific antibodies. Among adults, the risk group consists mainly of women aged 20-29 years. The intensity of the epidemic process of rubella in organized groups of children has been found to depend on the general level of collective immunity. The hemagglutination inhibition test with the use of rubella antigenic diagnosticum may be recommended for practical use in the system of epidemiological surveillance for the differential diagnosis of rubella with a view to distinguish it from other infections, the determination of the scope of the virus circulation among different groups of the population and the timely diagnosis of rubella in pregnant women.
