Despite being an approved antiemetic for more than five decades, the clinical usefulness of prochlorperazine is limited by its low solubility and inconsistent absorption in the gastrointestinal tract, which presents challenges for nanotherapeutic interventions. Here, we report the preparation of a highly soluble and permeable nanofiber formulation of prochlorperazine using the Quality-by-Design approach. The final nanofiber formulation with drug entrapment of 88.02 ± 1.14 % was obtained at 20.0 kV, with a flow rate of 0.5 ml/h and tip-to-collector distance of 19.9 cm. Physio-mechanical properties, such as thickness (0.42 ± 0.02 mm), pH resistance (7.04 ± 0.08), folding endurance (54 ± 5), and tensile strength (0.244 ± 0.02 N.mm-2), were appropriate for packaging and application to oromucosal surfaces. The content uniformity (93.48-106.63 %) and weight variation (<1.8 mg) of the optimal nanofiber formulation were within the permissible limits prescribed for orodispersible films. Microscopical investigations confirm a randomly deposited and dense network of woven nanofibers with an average diameter of 363 ± 5.66 nm. The drug particles were embedded homogeneously on the fiber in the nanoform (4.27 ± 1.34 nm). The spectral analysis using TEM-EDS shows diffraction peaks of sulfur and chlorine, the elemental constituents of prochlorperazine. The drug was amorphized in the nanofiber formulation, as led by the decline of the crystallinity index from 87.25 % to 7.93 % due to electrostatic destabilization and flash evaporation of the solvent. The enthalpy of fusion values of the drug in the nanofiber mat decreased significantly to 23.6 J/g compared to its pristine form, which exhibits a value of 260.7 J/g. The nanofibers were biocompatible with oral mucosal cells, and there were no signs of mucosal irritation compared to 1 % sodium lauryl sulfate. The fiber mats rapidly disintegrated within <1 s and released ≈91.49 ± 2.1 % of the drug within 2 min, almost 2-fold compared to the commercial Stemetil MD® tablets. Similarly, the cumulative amount of the drug permeated across the unit area of the oromucosal membrane was remarkably high (31.28 ± 1.30 µg) compared to 10.17 ± 1.11 µg and 13.10 ± 1.79 µg from the cast film and drug suspension. Our results revealed these nanofiber formulations have the potential to be fast-dissolving oromucosal delivery systems, which can result in enhanced bioavailability with an early onset of action due to rapid disintegration, dissolution, and permeation.

The study focused on creating a novel and environmentally friendly nanocatalyst using cellulose (Cell), ß-Cyclodextrin (BCD), graphene oxide (GO), Cu2O, and Fe3O4.The nanocatalyst was prepared by embedding GO and Cu2O into Cell-BCD hydrogel, followed by the in-situ preparation of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles to magnetize the nanocomposite. The effectiveness of this nanocatalyst was evaluated in the one-pot, three-component symmetric Hantzsch reaction for synthesizing 1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives with high yield under mild conditions. This novel nanocatalyst has the potential for broad application in various organic transformations due to its effective catalytic activity, eco-friendly nature, and ease of recovery.

Since most information is stored in text, students use electronic gadgets to obtain information about their study subjects. This Dataset provides the classification of English words into difficulty levels as viewed by the students at graduation and post-graduation levels. The Dataset in the consideration categorizes the English words into difficulty levels as viewed by undergraduate and postgraduate students in non-native English-speaking countries like India. Some words are neither considered difficult by undergraduate nor postgraduate students. The Dataset can help researchers provide meaning to difficult English words in native languages at runtime (while reading a text document). The Dataset can also help authors write their books and articles for undergraduate and postgraduate levels in different tones, keeping their vocabulary in view.

The present investigation employed a facile hydrothermal approach for the fabrication of Fe3O4/ZnO dual-functional magnetic nanocomposite. Supercapacitor and visible-light-driven photocatalytic applications of the material were explored. X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectra, ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectra (UV-vis/DRS), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometer were used to analyse the nanocomposite's structural, morphological, optical, and magnetic properties. The FE-SEM analysis demonstrated that the surface morphology of Fe3O4, ZnO, and the Fe3O4/ZnO nanocomposite consisted of nanoparticles, nanoflakes, and nanoparticles adhered to the nanoflakes, respectively. The maximum specific capacitance of the electrode based on the Fe3O4/ZnO nanocomposite was measured to be 736.36 Fg-1at a scan rate of 5 mVs-1. The electrode also demonstrated remarkable cycling stability, retaining 86.5% of its capacitance even after 3000 cycles. The Fe3O4/ZnO nanocomposite was found to have an optical bandgap of 2.7 eV, an average particle size of 22.5 nm, and a saturation magnetization of 68.7 emu g-1. The photocatalysis experiment was conducted using the optimised settings, which included a pH of 7.0, a dye concentration of 30 mg l-1, a catalyst dose of 1 g l-1, and a contact time of 120 min. The Fe3O4/ZnO nanocomposite exhibited a notable degradation efficiency towards crystal violet dye upon exposure to visible light, achieving a degradation efficiency of 96.9%. This performance surpassed that of pure ZnO, which attained a degradation efficiency of 70.2%. The nanocomposite exhibited a rate constant of 2.80 × 10-2min-1, which was found to be notably higher than that of pure ZnO (0.8 × 10-2min-1), as determined through modelling (pseudo-first order linear fit). The radical scavenger experiments indicated that the superoxide radicals and hydroxyl radicals are the primary reactive species. The Fe3O4/ZnO photocatalyst can be effectively isolated using a bar magnet. Remarkably, the photocatalytic efficiency of the material remained almost entirely intact even after undergoing four cycles of recycling. In addition, this research opens up exciting new possibilities for use in fields like energy storage and pollution control.

The genome sequence of hyperthermophilic archaeon Pyrobaculum calidifontis contains an open reading frame, Pcal_0039, which encodes a putative DNA ligase. Structural analysis disclosed the presence of signature sequences of ATP-dependent DNA ligases. We have heterologously expressed Pcal_0039 gene in Escherichia coli. The recombinant protein, majorly produced in soluble form, was purified and functionally characterized. Recombinant Pcal_0039 displayed nick-joining activity between 40 and 85 °C. Optimal activity was observed at 70 °C and pH 5.5. Nick-joining activity was retained even after heating for 1 h at 90 °C, indicating highly thermostable nature of Pcal_0039. The nick-joining activity, displayed by Pcal_0039, was metal ion dependent and Mg2+ was the most preferred. NaCl and KCl inhibited the nick-joining activity at or above 200 mmol/L. The activity catalyzed by recombinant Pcal_0039 was independent of addition of ATP or NAD+ or any other nucleotide cofactor. A mismatch adjacent to the nick, either at 3'- or 5'-end, abolished the nick-joining activity. These characteristics make Pcal_0039 a potential candidate for applications in DNA diagnostics. To the best of our knowledge, Pcal_0039 is the only DNA ligase, characterized from genus Pyrobaculum, which exhibits optimum nick-joining activity at pH below 6.0 and independent of any nucleotide cofactor.

The metastasis a major hallmark of tumors that its significant is not only related to the basic research, but clinical investigations have revealed that majority of cancer deaths are due to the metastasis. The metastasis of tumor cells is significantly increased due to EMT mechanism and therefore, inhibition of EMT can reduce biological behaviors of tumor cells and improve the survival rate of patients. One of the gaps related to cancer metastasis is lack of specific focus on the EMT regulation in certain types of tumor cells. The gastric and bladder cancers are considered as two main reasons of death among patients in clinical level. Herein, the role of EMT in regulation of their progression is evaluated with a focus on the function of miRNAs. The inhibition/induction of EMT in these cancers and their ability in modulation of EMT-related factors including ZEB1/2 proteins, TGF-ß, Snail and cadherin proteins are discussed. Moreover, lncRNAs and circRNAs in crosstalk of miRNA/EMT regulation in these tumors are discussed and final impact on cancer metastasis and response of tumor cells to the chemotherapy is evaluated. Moreover, the impact of miRNAs transferred by exosomes in regulation of EMT in these cancers are discussed.

BACKGROUND: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) emerged as a life-threatening respiratory condition, especially in immunocompromised patients, caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Initially detected in China in December 2019, the first case in India was diagnosed on January 30, 2020. Here we report a nosocomial COVID-19 outbreak among cancer patients and healthcare workers (HCWs) in a medical oncology unit of a tertiary care hospital from our region. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This was a descriptive study of the nosocomial COVID-19 outbreak and was conducted in the month of January 2022 at the medical oncology unit of a tertiary care hospital in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), India. The study included 25 COVID-19 cases, including patients and HC/non-HCWs (NHCWs). The confirmation of diagnosis was done through real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) using nasopharyngeal/oropharyngeal swabs as the test sample. RESULTS: Twenty-five COVID-19 cases, including 14 admitted patients, nine HCWs, and two NHCWs were confirmed by COVID-19 RT-PCR in a span of 11 days. The first case was a positive HCW. The patients were admitted for management of various hematological as well as solid organ malignancies. Of the 14 patients, eight were in the pediatric age group with a mean age of 6.9 years, and six were adults with a mean age of 55.2 years. Thirteen patients were on different chemotherapy protocols, and one was undergoing an autologous stem cell transplant. Of the 14 patients, four were asymptomatic for COVID-19 symptoms, eight had mild disease, and two had severe disease with respiratory failure. Two patients with severe diseases needed COVID-19-designated high-dependency unit (HDU) admission. There was one COVID-19-related death. Among the healthcare workers, the mean age was 33.8 years, of which six were males and three were females. All the HCWs and NHCWs had mild disease, and all of them recovered completely. CONCLUSION: Nosocomial COVID-19 illness is a new entity and is preventable. COVID-19 illness will remain in society after the pandemic is over, like the influenza B viral illness, and there can be seasonal flares in the future. Proper measures should be taken to prevent its clustering in hospital settings.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths and the sixth most commonly diagnosed cancer worldwide due to several common risk factors, including hepatitis C virus (HCV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), and other causes of cirrhosis. In HCC, intrahepatic vascular invasion and a tumor thrombus are commonly observed. However, the extrahepatic spread of the tumor thrombus to the heart via the portal vein, hepatic vein, and inferior vena cava (IVC) is rarely reported and is considered a poor prognostic factor. In addition, rarely, there is a risk of cor pulmonale and thromboembolism of the pulmonary vessels. Our patient also presented with this rare complication of HCC. Our patient's clinical presentation was bilateral pedal edema, moderate ascites, and abdominal discomfort with raised jugular venous pressure. These signs and symptoms are related to an impairment of the right heart caused by intracardiac tumor thrombus metastasis, leading to diastolic dysfunction. Based on these findings, echocardiography and abdominal computed tomography (CT) scan were performed with the definitive diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma with tumor thrombus metastases in the hepatic vein, inferior vena cava, and right atrium. The management team agreed on a conservative treatment plan based on the advanced stage of the disease and the high risk associated with aggressive treatment modalities. Unfortunately, on day 7 of admission, the patient died from a possible pulmonary embolism that led to cardiopulmonary arrest. This case underscores the importance of screening patients with a high HCC tumor burden with abdominal ultrasound and echocardiography for early detection and timely management.

Background: Many publications describe the advantages of the creation of ghost ileostomy (GI) to prevent the need for formal covering ileostomy in more than 80% of carcinoma rectum patients. However, none of the papers describes exactly how to ultimately remove the GI in these 80% of patients in whom it doesn't need formal maturation. Aim: To describe and evaluate the ghost ileostomy release down (GIRD) technique in terms of feasibility, complications, hospital stay, procedure time etc. in patients with low anterior resection/ultra-low anterior resection (LAR/uLAR) with GI for carcinoma rectum. Method: The present was a prospective cohort study of patients with restorative colorectal resections with GI for carcinoma rectum, Postoperatively the patients were studied with respect to ease and feasibility of the release down of GI and its complications. The data was collected, analyzed and inference drawn. Results: A total of 26 patients needed the GIRD and were included in the final statistical analysis of the study. The procedure was done between 7th to 16th postoperative days (POD) and was successful in all patients without the need of any additional surgical procedure. None of the patients required any local anesthetic injection or any extra analgesics. The average time taken for procedure was 5-minutes and none of the patients had any significant difficulty in GI release. There were no immediate postprocedure complications. Conclusion: The GIRD technique is a simple, safe, and quick procedure done around the 10th POD that can easily be performed by the bedside of patient without the need of any anesthesia or additional analgesics. Heusler alloys have drawn the interest of researchers due to their possible technical significances and multifunctional use. Herein, a thorough theoretical analysis using "density functional theory (DFT)" is performed to investigate the general physical features of RbTaSi and RbTaGe alloys. The "generalised gradient approximation (GGA)" and "Tran-Blaha modified Becke-Johnson (TB-mBJ) potential" has been incorporated to model the electronic structures of RbTaSi and RbTaGe. The structural optimization results signify that these materials are stable in the ferromagnetic phase with a cubic F4̄3m structure, which is supported by the computed elastic parameters. In addition, cohesive energy and microhardness signify strong bonding. The spin-polarisation bands and density of states indicate the half-metallic nature of these materials. These materials have spin magnetic moment 2µB, thereby emphasizing the use of these alloys for spintronic applications. Transport and thermodynamic properties have been calculated, and their temperature dependence is illustrated. The behavior of transport coefficients with temperature futher implies the presence of half-metallic nature.

Background Upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB) represents a substantial clinical and economic burden and rebleeding is one of the most important predictors of morbidity and mortality. Identifying patients who are likely to rebleed is a critical component of effectively managing patients with bleeding peptic ulcers. So, the study was undertaken to look for predictors of rebleeding in patients with bleeding peptic ulcers and try to find out the new scoring system to predict rebleeding in our population. Material and methods A retrospective analysis of prospectively maintained hospital data of UGIB patients was done and 480 patients of endoscopically documented peptic ulcers whose complete data was available were taken for study. Results Among the studied patients, men constituted 84.6%, and most of the patients were in the third to sixth decade of life with a mean age of 40.9±15.9 years, 76% were from rural areas. Only males with a mean age of 38.4±19.8 rebled with a rebleeding rate of 2.9% only. Half of the patients who rebled were in shock at the time of presentation. Those who rebled received more units of blood transfusion (mean 3±1.8), had a large mean ulcer size of Forest class IIa and IIb and epinephrine injection monotherapy group with varied statistical significance. Among rebleeders (n=14), eight patients were managed by a second endoscopic therapy, and six (42.8%) rebleeders and 1.25% of patients in total needed surgery. Two patients ultimately died giving overall mortality of 0.4% and mortality of 14.3% among rebleeders. Conclusion Our study found a very low rebleeding rate and mortality which could be explained by a young population with fewer co-morbidities and better response to proton pump inhibitor therapy. The significant parameters related to rebleeding were shock at presentation, degree of smoking, units of blood transfused, ulcer size, and high-risk endoscopic stigmata.

PURPOSE: Ovarian cancer (OC) is ranked as the third most common gynecologic cancer in various Indian cancer registries. In India, OC is seen in the younger age group, with a median age < 55 years being reported by most of the studies. The majority of patients are diagnosed in advanced stage (70%-80%), where the long-term (10-year) survival rate is poor, estimated at 15%-30%. The aim of this study was to evaluate clinical epidemiology, treatment patterns, and survival outcomes in patients with epithelial OC. METHODS: This was a retrospective analysis of patients with epithelial OC who were treated at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar, over a period of 9 years, from January 2010 to December 2018. RESULTS: OC constituted 2.94% of all cancers registered. Epithelial OC constituted 88.4% of all OCs, with a median age 50 years. More than two third of patients belonged to rural background and the majority (76.9%) of the patients were in stage III or IV at the time of diagnosis. The main presenting symptoms were abdominal distension/bloating (46.5%) and gastrointestinal disturbances (35.2%). The most common histologic types were serous (65.9%) followed by mucinous carcinoma (15%). Median overall survival for the whole study cohort was 30 months (95% CI, 28.0 to 31.9). Median overall survival for stage I, II, III, and IV was 72, 60, 30, and 20 months, respectively. CONCLUSION: Most of the patients presented in advanced stage of the disease and have poor outcome. Delay in diagnosis and improper management before registering in tertiary cancer center and lack of tertiary care facilities are the root causes of poor outcomes. The general population and primary care physicians need to be made aware of OC symptoms.

The commercially used synthetic pesticides have been proven to be toxic not only to humans and other animals, but also to non-target plant, the surrounding organisms around the plant, and the environment. There are also increased concerns regarding the development of pest resistance towards these synthetic pesticides. As such, biopesticides, which are defined as the certain kinds of pesticides derived from natural sources such as plants, bacteria, fungi, animals and some minerals, are potential alternative pesticides and are gaining increasing attention. Biopesticides are safer and eco-friendly pesticides used for pest management. Among these, plant-based biopesticides constitute a small but important group of biopesticides. Plant based extracts and essential oils have been particularly used in the management of insects exhibiting a variety of anti-insecticidal mechanisms. Their chemical compositions are very complex and as such acquiring resistance by the pest against such biopesticide is very difficult. As far as their mechanism of action is concerned, these can act as insect repellants, insect attractants, or anti-feedants. They can also inhibit respiration or they can obstruct the host plant identification. These insecticides can inhibit oviposition and decrease adult emergence by ovicidal and larvicidal effects. Some of the essential oil based insecticides have even been commercialized for use. However, there are some limitations that restrict the widespread use of such biopesticides. These limitations include cost, difficulties in production, gentle action, and dearth of appropriate biopesticide formulations. As far as their regulations are concerned, it is still a problem in many countries further halting biopesticide use. But one thing is clear that biopesticides do have a promising future due to their eco-friendly nature and unique chemical compositions and unique mode of action.

Background: At a global level, the COVID-19 disease outbreak has had a major impact on health services and has induced disruption in routine care of health institutions, exposing cancer patients to severe risks. To provide uninterrupted tumor treatment throughout a pandemic lockdown is a major obstacle. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and its causative virus, SARS-CoV-2, stance considerable challenges for the management of oncology patients. COVID-19 presents particularly severe respiratory and systemic infection in aging and immunosuppressed individuals, including patients with cancer. Objective: In the present review, we focused on emergent evidence from cancer sufferers that have been contaminated with COVID-19 and cancer patients who were at higher risk of severe COVID-19, and indicates that anticancer treatment may either rise COVID-19 susceptibility or have a duple therapeutic impact on cancer as well as COVID-19; moreover, how SARS-CoV-2 infection impacts cancer cells. Also, to assess the global effect of the COVID-19 disease outbreak on cancer and its treatment. Methods: A literature survey was conducted using PubMed, Web of Science (WOS), Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and VIral Protein domain DataBase (VIP DB) between Dec 1, 2019 and Sep 23, 2021, for studies on anticancer treatments in patients with COVID-19. The characteristics of the patients, treatment types, mortality, and other additional outcomes were extracted and pooled for synthesis. Results: This disease has a huge effect on sufferers who have cancer(s). Sufferers of COVID-19 have a greater percentage of tumor diagnoses than the rest of the population. Likewise, cancer and highest proportion is lung cancer sufferers are more susceptible to COVID-19 constriction than the rest of the population. Conclusion: Sufferers who have both COVID-19 and tumor have a considerably elevated death risk than single COVID-19 positive patients overall. During the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a reduction in the screening of cancer and detection, and also deferral of routine therapies, which may contribute to an increase in cancer mortality there in future.

Meloxicam (MEL) is an oxicam derivative with low water solubility that is useful in the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC) as a COX-2 inhibitor. MEL-loaded HPMC micro particles were fabricated using an oil-in-oil (o/o) emulsion solvent evaporation (ESE) method. FTIR, XRD, particle size analysis, DSC, SEM and in vitro dissolution investigation were utilized to evaluate the produced micro particles physiochemically. Finally, rabbits were used as animal models in an in vivo pharmacokinetic study to assess the MEL concentration in the plasma of rabbits. Pure MEL, F1 and F2 were given to rabbits by a single dose for in vivo pharmacokinetic investigations. The XRD and DSC results confirmed the transformation of MEL from its crystalline nature to the amorphous state in micro particles. The formulations F1 and F2 particle sizes were determined 92.43µm and 163.26µm, respectively. The prepared micro particles had a smooth, non-porous and spherical surface. In comparison to the pure drug (22.4%), the F1 and F2 cumulative drug release (%) was 86.19% and 79.57%, respectively. Pure MEL, F1 and F2 have estimated Cmax values of 7.21, 25.41 and 22.38µg/mL, respectively. MEL had a half-life of 19.98 hours, which rose to 22.19 hours and 24.75 hours for F1 and F2, respectively. MEL, F1 and F2 had AUC0-α values of 116.034, 445.95 and 462.72µg/mL*h, respectively. Considering these aspects, MEL-loaded HPMC micro particles may have the potential to better the delivery and control the release of drug that is not easily dissolved in water which could lead to improved therapeutic efficacy and limited side effects.

Prolonged retention of losartan potassium in the upper gastrointestinal tract is anticipated to increase its absorption and exposure to CYP450 enzyme subfamilies, undertaking its conversion to more potent (10-40 times) active metabolite, losartan carboxylic acid (LCA). Consistent with this, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose K4M/ethyl cellulose-based novel expandable films (EFs) containing losartan potassium (LP) suitable for prolonged retention in the stomach were developed. The films were prepared by solvent casting method. USP type II dissolution apparatus (0.1 N HCl, 37°C, 100 rpm) was used to perform the dissolution testing (drug release, unfolding behavior, film integrity, erosion, and water uptake) of the films. In vivo pharmacokinetic studies were carried out in rabbits. An HPLC-UV method was used for the quantification of the drug and its active metabolite in plasma. These folded films placed inside hard gelatin capsule shells unfolded to full dimensions in dissolution medium and provided sustained drug release throughout 12 h. The plasma drug concentration-time curves obtained from the in vivo studies were used to determine pharmacokinetic parameters, such as area under the plasma drug concentration-time curve (AUC), area under first moment curve (AUMC), mean residence time (MRT), Cmax, Tmax, t1/2, ke, and Fr in comparison with that of the market formulation, Cozaar®. The novel EFs significantly changed the pharmacokinetic parameters of the drug and its active metabolite. The apparent elimination rate constant (ke) significantly decreased, while MRT and elimination half-life (t1/2) increased in both cases. The relative bioavailabilities (Fr) of both LP and E3174 using the novel formulation were higher than that of Cozaar®.

Preclinical pharmacokinetic (PK) studies in animal models during the formulation development phase give preliminary evidence and near clear picture of the PK behavior of drug and/or its dosage forms before clinical studies on humans and help in the tailoring of the dosage form according to the expected and requisite clinical behavior. The present work reports a first of its kind preclinical PK study on extended-release (ER) solid oral dosage forms of venlafaxine (VEN) in New Zealand White rabbits. The VEN is a highly prescribed and one of the safest and most effective therapeutic agents used in the treatment of different types of depression disorders worldwide. The multiple-reaction monitoring (MRM) LC-MS/MS method developed for this purpose demonstrated enough reliability in simultaneously quantitating VEN and its equipotent metabolite O-desmethylvenlafaxine (ODV) in rabbit plasma. The method described uses solid-phase extraction for sample preparation followed by an ultrafast LC-MS/MS analysis. The chromatographic separation was achieved isocratically with a predominantly polar mobile phase by employing RPLC. The triple quadrupole LC/MS/MS system operated in MRM mode used an ESI probe as an ion source in positive polarity. The validation results are within the permissible limits of US FDA recommendations and acceptance criteria for bioanalytical method validation.

BACKGROUND: Pain is a most feared symptom among cancer patients. It not only affects physical health but it is a psychological burden and affects overall quality of life in cancer patients. it interferes the activity of daily living and treatment outcome. cognitive restructuring is very useful psychological treatment to reduce pain. OBJECTIVES: The purpose of the study was to assess level of pain, evaluate effectiveness of cognitive restructuring on intensity of pain and to find association of pain with demographic variables. METHODS: Quasi experimental  study was conducted in oncology department of SKIMS tertiary care hospital. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 22 patients for study group and 22 patients for control group. CBPS and Numerical rating pain scale was used to measure intensity of pain. Data collected by interview method. RESULTS: The results showed significant difference p<0.05 at only  in anxiety,face and activity on CBPS scores. Mean score of NPRS was 27.27% of moderate pain  and severe pain reduced from 63.64 to  to 0.%  in study group after CR. Results revealed Significant association of pain with age, gender and period of illness. CONCLUSION: Based on findings of the study it is concluded that CR has significant impact in cancer patients  on reducing pain and can ease problems related to pain. CR is an appropriate intervention to reduce the symptoms of cancer patients which has indirect impact on cancer treatment.

Peanut protein concentrates (PPCs) were subjected to hydrolysis by crude protease extract (CPE) obtained from three fungi viz; Rhizopus oligosporus, Trichoderma reesei, and Aspergillus oryzae and the effect on structural, functional and in-vitro protein digestibility (IVPD) properties were studied. Particle size was found significantly (p ≤ 0.05) lower in hydrolyzed samples than un-treated samples. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) spectrum of hydrolyzed samples displayed intense absorbance peaks in the wavelength ranging from 1500 to 2600 cm-1. Peanut protein concentrates hydrolyzed by CPE from R. oligosporus showed higher surface hydrophobicity (564.18). Total sulfhydryl content was found lower in all the hydrolyzed samples whereas, reverse trend was observed for exposed sulfhydryl content. The structural changes simultaneously affected the functional and IVPD attributes of hydrolyzed PPCs. In comparison to the PPCs hydrolysed using crude extracts from T. reesei and R. oligosporus, PPCs hydrolysed by A, oryzae showed higher solubility, water and oil binding capacity, foaming capacity and foam stability. Higher IVPD values of 86.70% was also found in PPCs hydrolyzed with CPE of A. oryzae. The study established that CPE hydrolysis of PPCs has potential for scale-up studies and may serve as a cost effective alternative to protein hydrolysis with pure enzymes.
